Big Vic, Cork, Fonte, Morgan, Tadic… all have solid songs, I think it’s high time the rest of the squad to get a bit of love too. Avoiding the overused tunes of Seven Nation Army and Sloop John B, these are my efforts so far…

JWP’s song - to chorus of “Our House” by Madness

Ward-Prowse

In the middle of our team

Ward-Prowse

He really hates Pompey

(Yes I know he’s from Waterlooville!)

Clyne’s song - to chorus of “Sweet Child of Mine” by Guns ‘n’ Roses

Wooooooah-ooooo-woah Nathaniel Clyne

Woah-uh-uh-ohhhhh- Nathaniel Clyne

Yoshida’s song - to the tune of “My Sharona” by The Knack

Maya Yoshi-da

Duh-duh-duh-duh duh duh duh duh duh-duh duh

Duh-duh-duh-duh duh duh (base-line from the song)

Maya Yoshi-da

My season ticket is in the Chapel, and we aren't always the most vocal, so if a few of you Northam gents could get them going...

The 'best' new song I've heard recently was the Status Quo Toby Alderweireld one someone was hammering away with at Newcastle. It's so bad it's good.

 Glad it made an impression. I was trying at United too.

Talksport have taken Bruce Springsteens "Born in the USA" refrain to advertise one of their programs. Short, very simple and effective. Fits well with the names of Morgan Schneiderlin and Toby Alderweireld

For Clyne, to 'free from desire' -

Our boy nathaniel, you can't stop nathaniel clyne

Our boy nathaniel, you can't stop him down the line

Our boy nathaniel, he'll get past you every time,

Our boy nathaniel...

Na na na na na na na, na na na, na na

Repeat.

Given Morgan's name has 5 syllables and Toby's has 6, not sure how both can fit well. Also surprised you are suggesting a song for Morgan when you think so highly of him.

Surprised no one's never used Gaga's Bad Romance for a song. Simple, effective, and great with clapping.

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh!

Victor Wanyamaaaa!!

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh!

Victor Wanyamaaaa!!

Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah-ah!

Wa na ya ma!

Rah-ga-ooh-la-la!

Wa na ya ma!

Could be done with Mayuka although hope he's not going to be played often.

We need another simple but catchy song to get the atmosphere going other than OWTS, so how about a version of this? Alright I know its copying but what song isn't copied these days? Think it'd be great to get a good atmosphere going and its simple and catchy!

Southampton! (Southampton!)

Southampton! (Southampton!)

Come on you boys in red! (Come on you boys in red!)

Come on you boys in red! (Come on you boys in red!)

Hampshire's red and white! (Hampshire's red and white!)

Hampshire's red and white! (Hampshire's red and white!)

Oh woah oh oh etc.......

No. Ultra foreign b*llocks.

I quite liked the idea of using Jack Frank Porteous Cork somehow within the song "When im 64"

When he gets older and loses some hair

Many years from now

Will he still be playing for our football club

Starting 11 or maybe a sub

If we still need you at quarter to 3

Would you still be free

Come on stay here for another year

I suggested the 'Sweet Child O'Mine' for Clyne in a previous thread on this subject. I call intellectual property theft.

And I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it, I liiiiiiike it, liiiiike, here we gooooooo, Toby Alderweireld!

I was quite pleased with my "Tears for Fears" effort in a previous thread (could we not have just continued that thread...?), but this one works almost perfectly, if only his surname was Aloderweireld...!

For JWP, you could probably work in something like "Even though he's from Pompey", might make a change than just saying how much we hate them, especially as he doesn't... How about a play on his intelligence:

Ward-Prowse

He's as clever as can be

Ward-Prowse

'Cos he chose Saints, not Pompey

Doesn't quite work in terms of rhythm, but it's a start!

Posted
Personally I like "Girls don't like boys , Girls like cars and mane"

Good one! To make it longer (if that ever actually works nowadays...)

Ryan Bertrand, pass to Sadio Mane!

Even though his diving isn't funny

He goes left (he goes left)

He goes right (he goes right)

He makes Gary Cahill and John Terry look sh*te,

So Ryan Bertrand, pass to Sadio Mane!

The defenders could be any two, but the Chelsea goal springs to mind - but just trying to build on your suggestion.

And as we have a new thread, I'm going to re-post my Pelle suggestion.

To the tune of the hokey-cokey:

Ohhh Graziano Pelle,

Ohhh Graziano Pelle,

Ohhh Graziano Pelle,

Pelle and the Saints go Marching On!

Posted

Think a stickied song thread would be best, not saying this one, but a dedicated song/chant thread. This can be the be added to and moderated and everyone knows where to go.

For JWPs, I was thinking the last line could be:

"He escaped from Pompey"

Clyne’s song - to chorus of “Sweet Child of Mine” by Guns ‘n’ Roses

Wooooooah-ooooo-woah Nathaniel Clyne

Woah-uh-uh-ohhhhh- Nathaniel Clyne

This. Definitely this.

If ever there was a song that

a) nobody can get wrong,

b) everyone right round the ground can join in with,

c) can be repeated/continued as long as you like

d) is original (I think) and;

e) CAN ONLY BE SUNG AT THE RIGHT ****ING SPEED

then this is it

That's been in my head all bl***y week. Definitely catchy! :)

Hopefully it can catch on, for new songs, this one and Sweet Child of Clyne are the best ones put forward. The Toby one might drag out too much though but it's definitely worth giving it a go.

Woke up this morning feeling fine,

Got Southampton on my mind,

We play football the way, the way we should, Oh yeah

Something tells me I'm into something good

I know I know, nicked from someone else again. But who cares, it sounds awesome.

Chant for Elia -

(To the chorus)

He's just too good, too good for you,

He's just too good, that Elia-lia-lia

Repeat.

Someone could probably come up with better words than that, but I think that tune HAS to be used. It's perfect.

We need 2 anthems that can resonate around the world.

1. Oh when the Saints (2 verses)

2. Sailing (by Rod Stuart)

"Sailing"

We are sailing, We are sailing,

home again 'cross the sea.

We are sailing, stormy waters,

to be near you, to be free.

We are flying, We are flying,

like a bird 'cross the sky.

We are flying, passing high clouds,

to be with you, to be free.

Can you hear me, can you hear me

thro' the dark night, far away,

We are dying, forever trying,

to be with you, who can say.

Can you hear us, can you hear us,

thro' the dark night far away.

We are dying, forever trying,

to be with you, who can say.

We are sailing, we are sailing,

home again 'cross the sea.

We are sailing stormy waters,

to be near you, to be free.

Oh Saints, to be near you, to be free.

Oh Saints, to be near you, to be free,

southampton, southampton, Southampton (chant at the end)

With the acoustics in the ground and everyone knowing the words there is no doubt this would raise our profile and echo around the world

Most of our fans get an aneurysm deciding between bovril and tea. The chances of learning this whole song appear pretty slim.

Its not really complicated for christ sake! 2 verses are repeated

Can you hear us

Can u hear us

i am convinced it would more than work

I heard one on radio yesterday that stuck in my head + I thought seemed saints related it goes something like:

The road is long

With many a winding turn

That takes us to who knows where, who knows where

But we're strong!

Strong enough to carry him

He ain't heavy

Erwin Koeman

I don't know who it's by, it's old song

He ain't Heavy is a great song. The only problem is unfortunately Erwin won't be with us in 10 years. I'm thinking long term .

Southampton hopefully will always be Sailing!

Its what we are - The docks, The boats, The team - to coin a phrase!

This season I've moved to the itchen stand, so really don't hear the Northam singing, so never hear new songs, we really do need a song list, I know it seems naff but I think it's the only way we will get a decent home support, the only song heard if your in the itchen stand is- oh when the saints, that's because it goes right round the ground, its no wonder away fans sing, you've only got one song!

I thought Palace fans were particularly good yesterday, could it be because of things like http://www.rednbluearmy.co.uk/chants
