John Guidetti - AGAIN !

Not for the first time, the name of Joh Guidetti has come up (noted in Echo). He is a player I have been writing about for several seasons - since his teenage days in Sweden .

JG was getting rave reviews already as a 16 year old with the Academy set-up Brommapojkarna in Stockholm.

He played U17/18 for Sweden and was quickly bought by Man.City and spent a couple of great seasons in their youth system.

Not old / experienced enough for the Prem.yet, he was loaned out to Feyernoord where his manager was - guess who?.

JG had a great season and scored around 20 goals, but was stricken with a strange ailment (connected with food poisoning from shellfish ? can't recall) -but the effects of which, took ages to overcome.

Returning to England, MC loaned him out to Stoke, where " Sparky " gave him the last 10 mins. in the occasional game, and he was well and truly miffed.

His exploits at Celtic since the summer have been well-publicised -even in Sweden, and getting him to SMS at £2 million - would be a real killing.

An agressive striker, with lots of enthusiasm, he occasionally reminded me of the " young James Beattie" plus the goals.

Let's hope that RK is as interested as the media seem to suggest.

John Guidetti is a player who seems to have been around for years but he is still only 22. He is clearly a talented player and has scored plenty of goals in the Eredivisie (20 goals in 23 games) and scored 6 goals in 15 appearances for Celtic this season - clearly these leagues aren't PL standard but it shows he has an eye for goal.

I believe his contract expires in the Summer so if City want to shift him in January for £2m then I think that could be a great bit of business. The link up with his old manager could be the key here. JG is clearly not going to get regular first team football at City, you could argue he wouldn't get it at Saints currently but if Pellè gets injured then he could be a good out and out striker replacement.

Definitely worth a chance for 2 mil. We're desperately short for backup for Pelle (i.e. dont have anyone besides an unproven and long term injured Gallagher), and he'd also benefit from being able to have a breather every now and again! Has worked with Koeman before, has a decent record, but has a bit to prove to City and Stoke... All in all, worth a shot!

Is he not locked in for the season on loan at Celtic?

The John Guidetti saga?

I reckon I can claim getting involved in the saga starting back in July, I really rate JG.

Am open on the CB role but I would really fancy Guidetti over Ings purely based on Koeman has worked with him before and he scored a tonne in the system we are going to play.

Would be under whelmed if Redmond was our RM buy, we have a tonne of cash and should be looking for decisive quality in the final third not someone who plays well once every 10 games.

Actually I think he hasnt scored for ages in their league. Those 6 goals came in the first 5/6 games and has struggled since against albeit the top quality sides in that league.

Is Hooper still around by the way banging in goals for Norwich?

He was on loan at Stoke and failed to get a starting place there. Stoke FFS. Says it all really.

Now playing in the scottish "please dont laugh' league and hasn't done much there against. Considering the opposition, never going to be a top goal scorer.

My conclusion...he is ****e!

Whilst he hasn't set the Scottish Premier League on fire of late, he is playing in possibly the worst Celtic team for probably 20-30 years. That said I'm not sure he's the quality of player we should be looking to sign - maybe when we first got promoted but not now.

He's changed his tune from a week or two back - with Rodriguez still a while away we are dangerously light for cover for Pelle

This. Pelle needs competition for that CF role, Long looks better playing alongside Pelle than on his own.

If Pelle gets crocked or suspended we are ****ed imo.... Let's hope it's a smokescreen.

Hmmm. Not so sure

We have seen over the last few months that where a certain pivotal player is missing, RK is not backwards about switching the style and system about to use the players he does have. For example, Toby is out so he brings in Gardos BUT also gets Ryan to stay back and not bomb on, providing more cover. We also saw the switch to 3 CBs to cover off the lack of fit DMs earlier as well.

So I would assume that if we end up with a spell of games without Pelle playing then we will see Saints play with a front 2 and a flat 4 behind. Long and Elia (or Mane) with Schniederlin, Vic, Tadic and JWP/Davis.

I think we are more pressed for a backup keeper, but even then I can see why the club isn't too fussed about busting a gut in the midsession window to get someone in beating in mind how many we have at the club.

Koeman: "There is nothing serious in the John Guidetti rumours. At the moment we are not looking for another attacker"

Yeah and Toby was beyond us as a signing this summer, I think we can all agree we need another pure target man forward we have JRod/Sadio/Elia/Tadic/Long who are all very similiar.

So do you think the same about Frazer Forster? He couldn't get a game at Newcastle and was playing in the Scottish "please don't laugh" league. He must be s***e too, right?
