SarniaSaint Posted 20 January, 2015 Posted 20 January, 2015 Time to take a loss and get some dough from the Cortese mistakes??? But does anybody want them???
Batman Posted 20 January, 2015 Posted 20 January, 2015 Time to take a loss and get some dough from the Cortese mistakes??? But does anybody want them??? Scouting team that bought them in?
SarniaSaint Posted 20 January, 2015 Author Posted 20 January, 2015 Scouting team that bought them in? LOL not so sure the black box was around then!!!
Batman Posted 20 January, 2015 Posted 20 January, 2015 LOL not so sure the black box was around then!!! No scouting/transfer committee at all?
Gastón10 Posted 20 January, 2015 Posted 20 January, 2015 I'd keep Ramirez for one last season to see if he can make it. Has promise. But argument is that koeman doesn't play with a CAM really. Osvaldo can leave for free. Best to be shot of him. All that wasted talent is annoying more than anythinh
SarniaSaint Posted 20 January, 2015 Author Posted 20 January, 2015 No scouting/transfer committee at all? Probably but El Duce ruled........remember??
Maggie May Posted 20 January, 2015 Posted 20 January, 2015 I'd keep Ramirez for one last season to see if he can make it. Has promise. But argument is that koeman doesn't play with a CAM really. You're better off staying in Hull mush.
Bewildered Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/calciomercato/inter-osvaldo-could-return-to-the-epl-qpr-interested/ Joey Barton and Dani Osvaldo in the same team? What is the worst that can happen?
andoru Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 If Gaston wasn't on silly money, I'd take him back as an option off the bench. But he is on silly money, and it's not worth paying it for the odd ten minute appearance. Osvaldo can do one.
a1ex2001 Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 Transfer list for both of them, if nobody is willing to take them then loan them out to at least get the wages off the books and some loan fee's in the bank. Both were gambles we all knew that when they came in if they had worked out we would have had two fantastic players for comparatively little money sadly it's not worked out Ramirez isn't up to the premier league and Osvaldo is a total basket case.
Turkish Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 (edited) Scouting team that bought them in? They were Corteses marquee signings. Remember how Nige was quizzed about Ramirez a few days before he signed and didn't have a clue about the deal? £30m down the drain for those two plus their wages of £60k a week, a buildling project which went twice over budget, i make that about £70m down the drain and zip all money coming through the doors from sponsors and corporates yet he's still a hero to some, just shut up and sing his name. alpine_saint Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 As soon as they are off the wage bill permanently, the better. Free transfer and pay their wages for 6 months.
ecuk268 Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 Unfortunate. Both players certainly have talent but Osvaldo seems to be an utter nutjob and Gaston can't produce on a consistent basis. Maybe there's a manager out there somewhere who could get the best out of them but I think that we're going to take a financial hit on these two.

I still wonder if the purchase of these two was the beginning of the end between NC and KL.
Turkish Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 I still wonder if the purchase of these two was the beginning of the end between NC and KL. No but it was definitely the end of beginning.
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 'Arry is welcome to him, should it be true. I'll give Ossie a lift if needs be. Might even get some $$ back for him. I do think it is unlikely, but you just never know with HR & QPR
a1ex2001 Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 As soon as they are off the wage bill permanently, the better. Free transfer and pay their wages for 6 months. Who says they will accept those terms? Both are entitled to the remainder of their contracts should they want them, I can see Ramirez walking away as he is young and will pick up a club in Italy pretty easily but Osvaldo has burnt just about every bridge in football I fully expect him to see out his contract unless we get lucky and someone offers him the same cash elsewhere!
Avenue Saint Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 You're better off staying in Hull mush. You're better off skate-ing on your 9wn scabby po postcode board!
Smirking_Saint Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 No scouting/transfer committee at all? There was yes, it is pretty stupid to think it was all down to just one man, in the same way as its not all down to just RoKo now
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 There was yes, it is pretty stupid to think it was all down to just one man, in the same way as its not all down to just RoKo now I still think Osvaldo would have been in large part down to MP. He must have thought he could manage him, given their productive time together at Espanyol. Never been hugely convinced Gaston was all down to Cortese, can't imagine there would have been no scouting going on there at all.
Turkish Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 I still think Osvaldo would have been in large part down to MP. He must have thought he could manage him, given their productive time together at Espanyol. Never been hugely convinced Gaston was all down to Cortese, can't imagine there would have been no scouting going on there at all. Cortese was obsessed with making a marquee signing. At the time we were using an overseas scouting agency, there is nothing unusual in this and they were also used by a few other premier league clubs but they weren't SFC scounts. Obviously he was recomended to us but Cortese chased him and eventually signed him. Alarm bells were ringing for me when Adkins clearly knew nothing about the signing and Ramirez comments were "they pay me so much money". It was evident that this wasn't the work of "a commitee" it was an ego signing from our former CEO and a huge amount of money wasted.
JxgrSaint Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 @tancredipalmeri: Osvaldo went missing: in last 48hours the forward hasn't showed up at Inter camp and nobody knows where he is at the moment. Johnnydeppesque

Well, one thing is for certain is that Nige Adkins had nothing to do with it. That much was evident from the interviews he gave at the time.
Suomi Saint Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 Our Nige had nothing to do with the Forren signing either. That was 4M down the drain also.
Professor Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 Anyone checked if Osvaldo has been spotted down at Sandbanks?
JxgrSaint Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/calciomercato/inter-suspends-osvaldo-after-striker-fails-to-show-at-training-facility/ Guess he's on his way back then...
Smirking_Saint Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 Well, one thing is for certain is that Nige Adkins had nothing to do with it. That much was evident from the interviews he gave at the time. Another thing for certain is that nobody in they're right mind would put Adkins soley in charge of a transfer budget. It was the beginning of the end for the bloke was the Ramirez saga, not like its not happened before though. Anyone who says it was soley one person or another is just plain wrong Im afraid, though the Ramirez transfer was nowhere as bad as Osvaldo. Ok, Ranirez never really worked out, that happens, kid clearly has talent. But Osvaldo was a massive failure, never looked like he gave a **** and could have really caused damage to morale.
Smirking_Saint Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 Oh, and Osvaldos loan being cancelled, great news
Turkish Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 Oh, and Osvaldos loan being cancelled, great news Just saw that, maybe he could be the striker we're lacking
saint lard Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 I wonder if Osvaldo wants to be back at Southampton after realising that he was onto a good thing under Koeman. I would ask him via twitter.......but he blocked me after the Fonte saga! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Professor Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 The Club must have taken a really hard hit on Osvado's £15m transfer fee. Not small money by any means.
cellone Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 They were Corteses marquee signings. Was this before Les rocked up and saved Saints?
Smirking_Saint Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 Just saw that, maybe he could be the striker we're lacking **** knows what will happen now, how many years has he got left ? Surely nobody will take him without us paying the majority of his wages
Turkish Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 **** knows what will happen now, how many years has he got left ? Surely nobody will take him without us paying the majority of his wages 4 year deal wasn't it, so another 2 and half years to go. We won't even be able to give him away.
Turkish Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 Was this before Les rocked up and saved Saints? Les was here but had a backseat role as Cortese insisted on control of everything.
Plastic Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 Surely we don't have to keep paying this guy? Can't we just release him? No point throwing good money after bad.
Smirking_Saint Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 Surely we don't have to keep paying this guy? Can't we just release him? No point throwing good money after bad. He has a contract, so its either pay it up or convince someone to part with some cash
Saint IQ Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 Really hope QPR and Harry sign him Harry does owe us after all.
Whitey Grandad Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 He has a contract, so its either pay it up or convince someone to part with some cash Unless he's in breach of contract in some form?
SuperSAINT Posted 29 January, 2015 Posted 29 January, 2015 Inter set to meet with his entourage tomorrow... http://www.football-italia.net/61936/inter-summit-osvaldo?

SuperSAINT Posted 29 January, 2015 Posted 29 January, 2015 Osvaldo heading back to Juventus on loan... He might actually behave there. (Maybe).
cellone Posted 29 January, 2015 Posted 29 January, 2015 He might actually behave there. (Maybe). Nice
nta786 Posted 29 January, 2015 Posted 29 January, 2015 He might actually behave there. (Maybe). and thats another Serie A he'll win that he doesn't deserve to win. LOL.
david in sweden Posted 29 January, 2015 Posted 29 January, 2015 pretty sure that Ramirez must have come through one of Cortese's contact - can't think Adkins was keen on him, and Osvaldo obviously bought to keep Pochettino happy, but that didn't work out either.
Jonnyboy Posted 29 January, 2015 Posted 29 January, 2015 ^ That post makes feel like I'm in 2013 *headspinning*
S-Clarke Posted 29 January, 2015 Posted 29 January, 2015 How does he keep getting decent gigs at these mega European clubs? He's not even that good.
Batman Posted 29 January, 2015 Posted 29 January, 2015 How does he keep getting decent gigs at these mega European clubs? He's not even that good. Good agent Also, every season it seems juve loan a striker through the season or at least the 2nd half of it. Here they go again. They will have absolutely no intention in paying a transfer free to sign him permanently
Koolman Posted 29 January, 2015 Posted 29 January, 2015 How does he keep getting decent gigs at these mega European clubs? He's not even that good. Because he's cheap!
Noodles34 Posted 29 January, 2015 Posted 29 January, 2015 They were Corteses marquee signings. You're so right Turkey Boy, Cortese wtf? Imagine if he'd signed players like Rickie Lambert and Jose Fonte, God where would we be now..... Oh, hang on a minute! But they didn't cost so much, luckily nor did Victor or Rodrigues..... Oh, hang on a minute!
