Goatboy Posted 19 January, 2015 Share Posted 19 January, 2015 Call me old fashioned but when at the football i prefer to watch the live action. When i'm at home i watch the screen.
Mattio Posted 19 January, 2015 Share Posted 19 January, 2015 Seems to be a new thing this season, I do miss that, especially when the action is at the other end of the pitch. I do however like having replays of key incidents which we never did previously.

Nothing contentious is allowed to be replayed, though - I think that's down to Premier League rules.

Lets B Avenue Posted 19 January, 2015 Share Posted 19 January, 2015 Sure other teams do. Stoke springs to mind. They would have to get permission from the league and then only as long as it doesn't distract the ref or players. Ours is central and pretty low compared to some other grounds, so may not be allowed.

kpturner Posted 19 January, 2015 Share Posted 19 January, 2015 I can't remember a time when we ever showed the action in full and in real time on the big screens. This is the first season that I can remember goals etc being replayed actually.

Golden Balls Posted 19 January, 2015 Share Posted 19 January, 2015 We used to show the whole game love on the screen but rarely had replays. Now we don't show any of the game live and show replays of goals and near misses. Nothing contentious.
John Boy Saint Posted 19 January, 2015 Share Posted 19 January, 2015 Shame really after going to the expense of upgrading the screens to HD quality.
Whitey Grandad Posted 19 January, 2015 Share Posted 19 January, 2015 Is it a case of not showing live action in the stadium if the match is being broadcast long TV? I seem to imagine a correlation but I don't have any real evidence.

I thought that might be the case but we haven't shown games when they haven't been televised and Everton definitely had theirs on last night. nta786 Posted 20 January, 2015 Share Posted 20 January, 2015 Can't say I ever look except when they show a replay of a goal this. You're at a live football game, why watch the game on the TV Screen? Only time I look is in the event of missing the goal, or to look at the time.
bpsaint Posted 20 January, 2015 Share Posted 20 January, 2015 We always showed the games in real time on the big screen up until this season, don't know why we stopped as other teams are still doing it so presume it isn't a rights issue. Like others on here though I only look at them for replays and the clock, if I wanted to watch the game on the screen I may as well do it at home. scdean Posted 21 January, 2015 Share Posted 21 January, 2015 Um, we do. Don't we? Everything bar contentious replays (as is case at other stadiums) WHY is this the case with most stadiums. Why do they hide away any contentious decisions? Most sports have gone with some sort of replay umpire, I know there isnt an efficient/effective way to include this in football yet, but why wont they show replays of potential PENS or OFFSIDES etc on the screens in the stadium??!! I know the answer is probably crowd behaviour etc, but isnt that a bit of a copout/embarrassing??!!
Saint_Jonny Posted 21 January, 2015 Share Posted 21 January, 2015 Prefer having the squad numbers on them to be honest, so I can pick out unknown away players. Replays of our goals are great, mind. Don't see the point in having the game live on the screens...it's in better quality right in front of you.
