Just wondered when we can expect to see these back:

Schneiderlin

Wanyama

JRod

Alderweireld

Mane

Based on what I understand from information that is out there (or rather, reports that claim to know)

Schneiderlin - may be back for Swansea, should be back for QPR.

Wanyama - early diagnosis was around 5 weeks, there hasn't been an update since that so on that basis he's back for Liverpool or West Brom

JRod - no-one knows, no timescales given.

Alderweireld - may be back for QPR, should be back for West Ham

Mane - not sure how good Senegal are but the final is 8th February. So worst case (and assuming he doesn't come back injured) he is back for Liverpool.

Senegal are good, but they have been drawn in the proverbial Group of Death alongside Algeria, Ghana and a resurgent South Africa, so it's a bit of a wild stab in the dark as to whether they'll qualify for the knockout stages. If they do get through the group, though, they'd be highly fancied to go all the way.

Unsurprising as he was known to be unfit for at least a couple of weeks, they just want him for the final stages when really he should be back at Staplewood getting the treatment he needs...that's African football for you.

you would like to think that a top premier league side that we are, we would have the facilities and know how to get him back before Senegal could

According to who? The Senegal team medics or the club. Worst case is that Senegal play him before he is ready and makes his injury worse.

An Algerian football site.

Elsewhere the manager said he wasn't too sure exactly which match he would return in.

Anyone think we need a new physio?! Can't remember a season as bad for injuries than this.

Probably a bit of change involved when our head injury management wallah was filched by Utd in October.

Still think rhe WC last summer is at the bottom of all these injuries though. Players just don't recover when they've been playing and training for 18 months or so with just a couple of week's break.

Hammies are at least 3 weeks, up to 5 for "normal" ones and over that depending on the severity of the pull/tear - so that's Alderweireld/Wanyama taken care of (though Toby's is meant to be thigh not hamstring). Groins can be a sod, could be anything for Schneiderlin and really difficult to rest.

Mane's away until at least the first week of February whether he's fit or not, his recovery was meant to be 6 weeks from New Year's Day (though he was hinting at 2 weeks, he wasn't fit for yesterday's Senegal match against Ghana).

Rodriguez will be back next week for the Dev Squad or never, depending on who you believe.

Stats say we had the fewest soft tissue injuries of any Prem club. We are reliant on a smaller core group than most though, which means the players are more likely to be fatigued - but even then we've got a load of monitoring going on.
