Yellow Shirt

I'd buy one. The club are missing out on this. Where's the business sense in not making it available? A limited run of 500 would give a return of £25k and we all know how much profit there is in football shirts.

Problem with that is, do they go for 500 kids. small, medium, large, Xl. XXL, XXXL etc.? They may get a return of £25k but that may not be cost effective, especially as they are already running down stocks for next season's 'named' apparel.

A valid point but how about if they did it on a pre-order basis. That way they'd know exactly how many of each size would be required.

I'm desperate to get one. I've got every shirt since '76 with the exception of the these three 3rd kits from the 80's that were never made available to the public.

I can only recall that yellow shirt being worn once, away to Arsenal (perhaps like yesaterdays). Strange as at the same time we had that awful blue ('radical blue flame effct' I think it was called) effort, so I'm sure the yellow would have outsold it.

I had that blue flame strip, but think slightly different time line, as pretty sure the yellow equivalent was also with the flame effect, available for sale and for mind even worse looking.

hold on I thought the quality of the club strips were so awful this year that no one bought them??

No, they're so awful and so poorly sized that most of the people who bought them want to get replacements so they're out of stock.

Also, if I could get a yellow one, it would be staying in the shrinkwrap/hanging in the wardrobe so it wouldn't be able to bobble all to hell like the one I actually wear has.

Now would be a good time for me to apologise to the people on the kit thread who I said were being oversensitive about the bobbling, pulling etc. my long sleeved home shirt has about 30 pulls on it, the stitching has pulled and come off near my jeans pocket, and the "Saints Teamwear" pebble on the front disappeared months ago. Plus I'm not a bloody 2XL no matter what the label says, and they also don't have any long-sleeved shirts to replace it with. The navy away sat in the wardrobe for 3 months before I wore it for fear of scagging too. :D

What about the 2006 Saints Apparel Flybe sponsored yellow away shirt with blue stripe down the sleeve that was only sold in the end of season concourse jumble sale from players' stock? Or are you counting the crappy 1976 FA Cup embroidered limited edition as that one?

Oh, and bit of random info, Granty says there are only 100 in existence. One of them is in the possession of the kid Steven Davis hit with his shot at St James' Park.

If he'd like to elaborate on that "100" figure, I'd be fine with it.

Draper tools I think was on that one - looked quite cool at the time but blue always feels wrong

The blue flame kit was 1991-92 and 92-93.

That yellow one was 1990-91 and maybe the season before. We worn it at my first game away to Luton Jan 1991. Won 4-3 Tiss and Wallace and Shearer scored.

I think everyone has a soft spot for their first ever kit. Mine was the Dimplex away kit made by pony which I think was around 1993. Was Blue/navy blue stripes but had the V just like the home kit did. When I grew out of it was passed down to my sister who lost it. Next away kit was the Sanderson yellow one but was not the same.

The blue kit was worn at Wembley for the ZDS Final. F'kin blue!

I can't see any order being placed at this stage of the season for a yellow shirt that would be out of date in only a matter of weeks after being made and arriving instore - particularly *if* next year's away is yellow.

If the Club put it on sale you can bet your bottom dollar someone would start a thread on them cashing in, screwing more money out of fans etc.

We must be one of the few teams that doesn't have a third kit as standard every season. Can't remember last time we did tbh! I think we wore our yellow aap3 top from 2011/12 in 2012/13, but that doesn't really count as it was a one-off (and 2011/12's only away kit)

Fair play Saints

Yep, Draper Tools in white without a background panel, and a white collar - was one of the best looking away kits going around at the time, but hideous now.

True - mine was the 1990 Draper Tools home strip.

I begrudgingly bought the Pony home strip, but had a deep seeded hatred for both that home and away strip, partly because I thought the bold v stripe was cringeworthy but mostly because West Ham had the identical version too. Pony by name, Pony by design.

We did indeed - couldn't buy that one in the first Prem season either, lucky I bought one in the Championship promotion season. Didn't buy the twice-worn white away kit and only wish I had now.

What?

Solent Green being inspired by the film "Soylent Green" about a futuristic food product of the same name. The twist has been spoiled, above.

It's sort of like Cardiff calling their away kit zombie blood red or something. Full points to hummel/Saints for the silliness though.

We definitely wore the yellow at Luton Town, I remember being at that game. We wore it with white shorts and black socks. It looked a right mess. I think we also used it at Spurs and QPR that season.
