tisspahars Posted 15 January, 2015 Share Posted 15 January, 2015 Those (of whom there seem to be many) who think a point would be good in the circumstances on Saturday and that a win is, frankly, unlikely, may be interested to know you can currently lay us at around 11/8 which seems VERY short to me. Disclaimer - Last time I posted something similar we cruised past Everton....
fez Posted 15 January, 2015 Share Posted 15 January, 2015 "Lay us" sounds less unfaithful than "bet against us"
tisspahars Posted 15 January, 2015 Author Share Posted 15 January, 2015 I've never understood the "I couldn't bet against my own" brigade. Firstly it makes no difference to the result, and secondly, it doesn't (unless you are not a die hard fan) change what you want to happen.
Toadhall Saint Posted 15 January, 2015 Share Posted 15 January, 2015 I've never understood the "I couldn't bet against my own" brigade. Firstly it makes no difference to the result, and secondly, it doesn't (unless you are not a die hard fan) change what you want to happen. Just seems unfaithful somehow. I don't bet but I'd never bet against Saints. Everyone to their own tho
bilbot79 Posted 15 January, 2015 Share Posted 15 January, 2015 A saints fan should never have a vested interest in saints losing. Where would your integrity be after that??
Delboy Dave Posted 15 January, 2015 Share Posted 15 January, 2015 So if we get champions league and get in a group against Barca and we are without 4/5 first teamers thru injury or suspension you wouldnt put some money on Barca to win at the Nou Camp? tisspahars Posted 15 January, 2015 Author Share Posted 15 January, 2015 Like I said Bilbot, it doesn't change the way I feel in the slightest - if I have layed Saints I still want them to win with just the same sad desperation as always.
Bad Wolf Posted 15 January, 2015 Share Posted 15 January, 2015 I bet against Saints all the time. It softens the blow when we lose. The only problem is when you start putting lots of money on, you could find yourself cheering for the opposition which really is not what a love for a football club is about and pretty much defies the point of doing it in the first place. So it's probably always best to keep it low. I still want Saints to win just as much as I did before, it's just a light at the end of the tunnel. A small consolation. Doesn't make you a bad fan because like someone else said, it has no bearing on the result, it's not like the players get wind of it and think "betting against us, is he?! What a pr1ck, I'm devastated" and the whole team moral goes down and we lose because of it.
Deano6 Posted 15 January, 2015 Share Posted 15 January, 2015 I've always bet against Saints, and bet big. In the 90s I was making a killing and living the life of a playboy but the last 5 years have been rough, man.
scotty Posted 15 January, 2015 Share Posted 15 January, 2015 I don't bet myself, but I remember the man u cup game. My brother in law put £20 on saints being ahead at half time but losing at the final whistle. Won £360, iirc.
