Dropping points from winning positions

Am I right in thinking we've only dropped two points from winning positions this season (Chelsea)? Says a lot about this team that if we get the lead we tend to keep it.

I seem to remember dropping loads under Pochettino last season. Anyone know how many?

24 points dropping by Feb 2013. lol at top comment on there.

Am also sure we dropping about that last season, seem to think us and West Ham were pretty bad.

Seems first season in ages we are solid at the back.

In the Prem, yeah. But in the championship we were solid and for league one our back 5 was ridiculously good, davis, harding, fonte, jaidi, butterfield.

Isn't it really just a reflection of our amazingly good defence record so far.

Given we are conceding less than a goal a game, then if we score first, we are pretty likely to win...

I think the best stat is that we are, on average, giving teams 2.8 shots on target every game which shows just how hard they are all working to restrict time and space.

That overlooks the fact that if we go a goal up we can shut the game down by keeping possession without needing to throw numbers forward too. Ipswich last night never looked remotely like scoring, the offside decision was comfortable (and the flag was up well before the shot) and other than that we strangled them and with Championship level players they couldn't even get touches near our box.

20 points dropped from winning positions last season:

Chelsea (away) 1-0 up, lost 3-1

Tottenham (home) 1-0 up, lost 3-2

Sunderland (away) 2-0 up, drew 2-2

Arsenal (home) 1-0 up, drew 2-2

Stoke (home) 1-0 and 2-1 up, drew 2-2

West Ham (away) 1-0 up, lost 3-1

Tottenham (away) 2-0 up, lost 3-2

Man United (home) 1-0 up, drew 1-1

A frankly ridiculous 29 points dropped from winning positions in 2012/13:

Man City (away) 2-1 up, lost 3-2

Man United (home) 1-0 and 2-1 up, lost 3-2

Everton (away) 1-0 up, lost 3-1

Fulham (home) 1-0 up, drew 2-2

Swansea (home) 1-0 up, drew 1-1

Norwich (home) 1-0 up, drew 1-1

Stoke (away) 1-0 and 3-1 up, drew 3-3

Arsenal (home) 1-0 up, drew 1-1

Man United (away) 1-0 up, lost 2-1

Wigan (away) 2-1 up, drew 2-2

Newcastle (away) 1-0 up, lost 4-2

West Ham (home) 1-0 up, drew 1-1

To contrast that, our record in past seasons when losing has been pretty poor as well.

Last season, 6 points gained from losing positions:

Sunderland (home) 1-0 down, drew 1-1

Man United (away) 1-0 down, drew 1-1

Stoke (away) 1-0 down, drew 1-1

Man City (home) 1-0 down, drew 1-1

Newcastle (away) 1-0 down, drew 1-1

Arsenal (home) 2-1 down, drew 2-2

In 2012/13, 9 points:

Aston Villa (home) 1-0 down, won 4-1

Fulham (home) 2-1 down, drew 2-2

Fulham (away) 1-0 down, drew 1-1

Chelsea (away) 2-0 down, drew 2-2

Wigan (away) 1-0 down, drew 2-2

Sunderland (away) 1-0 down, drew 1-1

Stoke (home) 1-0 down, drew 1-1

This season, only 4 points so far:

West Ham (away) 1-0 down, won 3-1

Aston Villa (away) 1-0 down, drew 1-1

But we've only actually been behind at any stage in 8 league games this season. Only Chelsea and Man City have better records than that, with 6 and 7 respectively.

Is this really Saints? The team I support? The club that nearly always went behind? And when we did go in front, struggled to ever keep it?

I'm relatively young compared to a lot of you and started going in 92/93 season. This is just mental. Still waiting for it to either fall apart or just wake up back in L1.
