Convict Colony Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 just look back at the everton one 01 Davis 10 Mané 32 McCarthy 33 Targett 38 McQueen 45 Seager 46 Gape
Lighthouse Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Looking forward to seeing the bench today, reckon it could be Hilarious! I'm not sure if that's our bench or theirs.
Saint-Armstrong Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 @TheNigelAdkins: Safe trip to all Saints fans on the long journey up to Newcastle for today's game. Thank you for your supportive messages #togetherasone
CB Fry Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Given the injuries today it would be great to just get something out of the game, keep the good run going and then have a two week break before the next run of league games. Got to start prioritising league over the cup. Don't worry. I don't think we'll make any progress in the cup today at all.

Toadhall Saint Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Be very happy with a draw, despite what the lunatics on here think they are still a top half side and we've got a lot of players out. A point away from home against a top half side is a good result whatever the circumstances. Just about sums it up for me. The North East has never been much of a happy hunting ground.
The Cat Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Anyone know a non-sh.it city centre pub in Newcastle that shows 3pm games?
Bucks Saint Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 just look back at the everton one 01 Davis 10 Mané 32 McCarthy 33 Targett 38 McQueen 45 Seager 46 Gape Will be better than that today, late tests permitting. McQueen was excellent midweek, deserves a bench spot, but then so do most of the above youngsters and then there is Hesketh too
Winchester Red Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Any streams for today. I'm in Spain so can't watch sky
5string Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Any streams for today. I'm in Spain so can't watch sky Not kicking off for a couple of hours yet (1730 GMT), so I haven't found anything. Maybe later...
Saint Matty 76 Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Any streams for today. I'm in Spain so can't watch sky Yeah definitely, this will be live as soon as the program starts; http://riderhd.org/ Completely HD quality but the only issue is the fact it's about 30 seconds behind real time, so if you have anyone else around refreshing Twitter then you could have anything a bit ruined.
Andy Durman Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Pretty sure Targett will be tired after Wednesday. Bertrand will start. Tadic will be on the bench. Elia will start. Reed deserves a start. I think there's room for both Cork and Reed. Forster Clyne, Fonte, Gardos, Bertrand Davis, Cork, Reed Long, Elia Pelle No place for Reed. Sorry I didn't have time to correct or explain myself. Now I can. My worry is how fit Cork is. Can he and Davis control midfield. I like a middle 3 of Davis, Cork and Reed, but Davis doesn't play on the left as well. I would like to see then a triangle with Davis playing at the top behind Pelle. JWP ON THE RIGHT WITH Clyne overlapping. That works. So my new line up is: Forster Clyne, Fonte, Gardos, Bertrand Cork, Reed JWP, Davis, Elia Pelle I would feel very frustrated if I was Long after performing so well in mid week. Difficult team selection and it does show how many options we have even with 6 players out.
trousers Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 @bigadamsport: As for #saintsfc team news , I raised a few eyebrows with staff when I suggested Tadic might be out - so hopefully I was wide of the mark !

Brilliant thank you QPR v Manure on at the moment. Couldn't get rid of ads overlaying on iPad but went to full screen and gone Cheers
Andy Durman Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 (edited) One other point I wanted to raise is our squad depth. It will be interesting in 3 years time to look back at this squad and realise just how good some of these youngsters really are. Untried at the moment, but when given the chance they step up and why? Well because they are good enough. We just don't recognise them at the moment. Reed will be playing for England in 3 years time and Targett is already a very reliable player. trousers Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 @bigadamsport: #saintsfc team news official soon - been told in last 30 mins by someone who should know that Tadic will start on wing - so 4-2-3-1 likely

trousers Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Newcastle United FC @NUFC #NUFC v @SouthamptonFC (4-3-3): Krul; Janmaat, Coloccini ©, Dummett, Haidara; Sissoko, Anita, Colback; Cabella, Perez, Gouffran. subs: Woodman, Santon, Williamson, Abeid, Ameobi, Armstrong, Riviere.
pangy Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 (edited) Reed starts with Davis and JWP in the middle That is the strongest team we could possibly put out I suppose Edited 17 January, 2015 by pangy
Bearsy Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Team don't look bad to me. Tight game in offing! Newcastle 0 - 9 Saints
nta786 Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 That was the team I expected. We can win this, come on you reds.
S-Clarke Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 To be honest, that's not a bad side at all. Maybe a little ''light'' in terms of strength through the middle which is a bit worrying, but there's a nice wide look to that side with both Elia and Tadic - with the 2 full backs as well.
Saint Charlie Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Decent lineup with all the injuries and Long as an impact sub. Got to stop Sissoko and get into Cabella. Their defence is suspect.
shurlock Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Worried about that midfield and our ability to retain possession but we'll see.
Edmonton Saint Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 looking for a stream for this one if anyone can help..
Saint Charlie Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Worried about that midfield and our ability to retain possession but we'll see. More worried it is so lightweight rather than the possession element.
igsey Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 looking for a stream for this one if anyone can help.. Will be on here when it starts. QPR vs Man U now.
Leicestersaint Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 I would have started with Long after his excellent display against Ipswich and had Tadic to bring on to score -a s against ManUre.
Saint Charlie Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Long out wide doesn't work and he has no composure to keep the ball. He is a better impact sub than starter IMO in the PL, especially away.
mcjwills Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 looking for a stream for this one if anyone can help.. Pub and watch skysports 1 sorted for you ?
Dark Munster Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Just had this text of a Newcastle supporting mate: "We have Cisse and Tiote out in African cup of nations, De Jong, Rolando Aarons, Ryan Taylor, Steven Taylor, Obertan and Abeid all out injured - I make that 8 that would potentially start! We are also on bare bones! I'd take a draw anyday. " Thanks. So many posters here go on about our depleted squad, but neglect to mention that Nouveau Château United are equally crocked.
shurlock Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 More worried it is so lightweight rather than the possession element. Both - to be fair. Reed doesn't have Morgan's composure to let us build slowly from the back and JWP/Davis are unlikely to get far enough forward to support and collect Pelle's second balls if we can't play through midfield. Hopefully Tadic and Elia play a little narrower than normal.
