team-saint Posted 29 December, 2008 Posted 29 December, 2008 http://www.football.virginmedia.com/page/Football/Championship/VideoIndex/0,,12555,00.html Anyone else think the Reading goal was actually a foul on Kelvin. Seemed to me as though the ball was rolling in and Long just ran into Kelvin?

Seemed to me as though the ball was rolling in and Long just ran into Kelvin? :/ didn't work for me But just seen the (as usual ****) highlights on the Championship and I'd say we couldn't really complain... but would have liked to see the handball shout?

Scummer Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 If those highlights are a fair reflection of the chances in the game, then I'd say we were pretty lucky to get anything out of the match. Our defending is embarrassing to watch. Wasn't Jan a defender?
saintwarwick Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 Anything to say alps? He's out of his armchair at the moment.
Thedelldays Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 oooooooooh check out the baiting going on here... (then you will take the moral high ground claiming alps started it)

Scummer Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 Watching 90+ minutes is far better than edited highlights, it gives a better perspective. So did we have lots of good chances that weren't in those highlights then?
saintwarwick Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 So did we have lots of good chances that weren't in those highlights then? I didn't see the highlights but did see the game on Sunday, according to my eyes we had more chances than Reading (and the stats).
OldNick Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 Really, you'd do well to change the record. It's not even a put-down any more. Saintwarwick's accusation of people who attended the match who have a different opinion of the performance "seeing a different game" just says it all.Alpine it is not a put down it is the case. You find the result the most important thing because you are sitting at home. Of course I wan us to win as much as anybody on here ,but also I pay with my money and time to go and be entertained. The players are trying to play football the right way.Al ot of them have been at the club years and so have a certain attachment to us. Most are earning very good wages but not astronomical ones and so are more like the players I watched when I first used to go. I left saturday feeling upset for them more than myself as they really deserved more and really did play good football with energy and enthusiasm. As you know i dont like jumping on the grave of opur club and so wilol defend it to the best of my limited ablity from unfair criticism or downright mischief making.

Our defending is embarrassing to watch. Wasn't Jan a defender?I havent watched the highlights but if the Reading chances were after they equalised it is not a fair assessment. When you lose a late goal the opposition are lifted and you are likely to be on the back foot. I notice that the handball penalty shout seems to be left out which would have meant a pen in the last minute.
Alain Perrin Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 So did we have lots of good chances that weren't in those highlights then? Yes. We were dominant over Reading, lacking telegenic clear cut chances as usual but far more of the play, crosses etc. I do not think the highlights reflect the game I saw. Saints were unlucky not to take all three points (no penalty appeal, no McGoldrick hitting the bar either (unless I missed that)). In my opinion, the highlights and the commentator reflect the game they thought they were going to see, not the one that actually happened.

Whitey Grandad Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 So did we have lots of good chances that weren't in those highlights then? They certainly didn't show the Reading handball. I can only think that the ref didn't see it.
alpine_saint Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 So did we have lots of good chances that weren't in those highlights then? hehehehehe
saintwarwick Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 hehehehehe Guess you missed the other posters who were in attendance then
NickG Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 Michael Dubbery, experienced pro, who played the game thinks we played well and on the two games cannot understand our lowly position. Alpine who watches on ceefax thinks we played crap. Who do you believe?
SaintRobbie Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 I am pretty sure we played better than we have been - afterall the fact the fans stayed loyal to the team is evidence enough in the current climate. We still didnt score very many though and I think we all agree we need finishers. But Director of Football Lowe has them on loan. Also - were Reading also not failing to play to their potential?? Oh... what to do?!
OldNick Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 Guess you missed the other posters who were in attendance then  Happy when we're losing, he's only happy when we're losing. If you get my drift.

Alpine who watches on ceefax thinks we played crap. Who do you believe? Now, you getting a stiffy from a throwaway comment from a player on the opposing team - that I can beleive. Michael Duberry, experienced pro, cannot understand our lowly position - we walk this league...

Saint_clark Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 We had just as many chances as Reading, if not more.
alpine_saint Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 hmmm i wonder if you had a problem with lowe at the AGM and the "letter"...? bet you did.. No, I bet he didnt. Probably we should all shut up complaining on the basis that Lowe "received" that letter, according to NickG...
hypochondriac Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 oooooooooh check out the baiting going on here... (then you will take the moral high ground claiming alps started it) I was simply hoping he would apologise for his obvious error. I see he still hasn't answered.
Thedelldays Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 I was simply hoping he would apologise for his obvious error. I see he still hasn't answered. does it matter..we all think we are right...
hypochondriac Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 does it matter..we all think we are right... Don't make a fool of yourself. Alpine would be the first person to jump on someone when they are wrong. It's not even a matter of opinion about right or wrong. H has said something and then denied it. Anyone with any sort of decency would apologise. So come on Alps.
NickG Posted 30 December, 2008 Posted 30 December, 2008 No, I bet he didnt. Probably we should all shut up complaining on the basis that Lowe "received" that letter, according to NickG... alpine in insult that is nothing to do with what has been posted shock! You are obsessed with Lowe, I was talking about footballers comments on a game I saw
Viking Warrior Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 Alpine You are a complete C***, I was at the game. we played well, there were moments when we let our guard down, which is something that worries me but overall it was a very good performance. McGoldrik sent a shot flying past the angle shortly after they scored. if only that had been a couple pf feet to the right. it would have been a terrific goal. OH back to you alpine, you are one sad mother ****er. I suggest you stop giving your views on games unless you attend games. but then you are alpine one of lifes moaners. I see you have already passed judgement on jordan robertson with out knowing all the facts.

NickG Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 maybe wrong but can't be bothered to go back through it all, but seem to remember those who went were pretty universal in saying somewhere between playing ok to pretty good. Only remember one posting saying clearly we played cr@p

Only remember one posting saying clearly we played cr@p Unfortunately football is about results and not how well we played. Some people (including myself) need to see 3 points just occasionally, not pretty losing football.
Saint_clark Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 Unfortunately football is about results and not how well we played. Some people (including myself) need to see 3 points just occasionally, not pretty losing football. But when it's against one of the best sides in the league, a great performance and a point is brilliant.
NickG Posted 1 January, 2009 Posted 1 January, 2009 Unfortunately football is about results and not how well we played. Some people (including myself) need to see 3 points just occasionally, not pretty losing football. it is, but as you will see from earlier in thread we were all saying the points gained etc isn't good enough and results are more important than the performance. But when it's against one of the best sides in the league, a great performance and a point is brilliant. agree, this is a post match thread and we played pretty well - not crap. A point is a decent return from that one fixture. There are plenty of other threads about how poor have done so far. Bottom line - its just childish baiting to say we played crap
