Forester Posted 11 January, 2015 Share Posted 11 January, 2015 Have a look at the history books. In almost every season, 70 points is enough for top four finish. Last season was a freak for Everton to get 72 and miss out. 22 wins will be enough without a doubt. I had been in the "top four is unrealistic" camp before Christmas. But look at it rationally now...we have played two games of the second half of the season: Arsenal and Man Utd, and bagged six points already. So one way of looking at it is that we have the bottom 15 yet to play! Look at the fixtures and it's hard to say we can't see ten wins. And to emphasise, less may be enough

vin Posted 11 January, 2015 Share Posted 11 January, 2015 Erm, not sure last season was a freak... Spurs got 72 points in 2012-13 and finished 5th
washsaint Posted 11 January, 2015 Share Posted 11 January, 2015 Think a lot less points will be needed this season, maybe as low as 65/66. If you look at last season, after 23 games Chelsea were 3rd with 50 points: no team will be close to 50 points and 3rd this season. Likewise, after 23 games last season we had 32 points so we are already 7 points better off with 2 games in hand. Not sure we will ever have a better chance of CL football and the way we play, why not? It's in our hands with Spurs, Liverpool, West Ham all to play at home.
