You'd like to think they would at least stick around for a shot at the Champs League. I could understand them leaving the following summer if we don't qualify again but you would have to be a right money grabbing b**tard to leave in spite of Champs League football.

You mean, for everyone in the world, money is the #1 consideration? Hate the idea footballers are different to the rest of us, we all move jobs for more money.

The difference being for most of us small amounts of money are life changing. £50k a week, invested wisely is easily enough for a player to retire from. That's more in a year than most of us will earn in a lifetime and still leaves enough gravy for a big house, a Lamborghini and a WAG with a handbag fetish. Leaving for more is just greedy.

No, I don't mean that. Not everyone lives solely for money. Many do; some don't.

Some will go, as I said; some will stay. I also presume that salaries will continue to rise at St. Mary's.

It would take eye-watering sums and I don't think the likes of Liverpool or Spurs would be so attractive to our players. The best of the best could of course tempt someone away, but that's the joy of succeeding as a team - I don't think many of our players as individuals would improve the top sides.

I'd be most worried about interest in Koeman.

You would like to think no but I suspect if we do then it will be times higher than the likes of Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs looking at our players. More like the Chelseas, Man Citys and some big Euro clubs might be looking. You would also like to think that the example of Lovren, lallana, Lamert, Shaw etc would have an influence.

No we don't. Many of us move jobs for less money to work in jobs we love in places we want to live.

This. I moved from somewhere I had been very happy, to get more money, now been let go. Tried to go back to the old place I loved but nothing available now. #lessonlearnedthehardway

But you could always still move jobs in a few years. These guys have around 10 years to make all their money before they retire.

Why? Hardly like they cant earn well after football. If they've got something about them (and often they don't even need that) and invest it well and look to further their career with media/coaching/management/or any other business they have the ability to start with such disposable money.

They earn more in a year than most will in our lives. With 10-20 years of that income, they'll be fine.

I think they'll stay tbh one more season.

I *hope* they'll stay for one more season, but then that's what I hoped for last season.

If we finish top 4, no player has any excuse for leaving other than money. We are all pretty much in agreement that even with CL money we can't match Chelsea and Man City for money, right? That leaves one other team with a CL spot who might be an option (whether it's Man U, Arsenal, Spurs, etc) or they're leaving for a less successful team.

Bertrand and Alderweireld will be different cases with that in mind, of course, as we'd have to agree deals.
