jawillwill Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 How bad? Looked like a 6-8 week-er to me. When's Yoshida back?
farawaysaint Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 How bad? Looked like a 6-8 week-er to me. When's Yoshida back? He walked off, 4 weeks if I'm to guess.
Saint Charlie Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 You can't tell just by looling at him. Seemed like a hamstring or thigh injury, but the only certainty is we will miss him a lot and it leaves us short with Yoshida away. Imagine Toby will need a scan before they know much.
Saint Charlie Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 Pics on Twitter of him leaving OT on crutches, but that is fairly common for any injury.
Jonnyboy Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 Makes the win even sweeter though that we did it without one of our top players.
Saint Charlie Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 Koeman said "hamstring injury and normally he will be out for a long time."
shurlock Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 If it's his hammy, it's the third time he's done it this season. Seems injury prone.
S-Clarke Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 In a weird way, this probably increases our chance of getting him on a perm. deal. Out of the shop window for a few weeks, whilst we thrash out the deal in the BG.
Badger Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 If it's his hammy, it's the third time he's done it this season. Seems injury prone. Perhaps we can factoir that into negotiations with Atletico..
Ohio Saint Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 He was holding himself mid-thigh. I'm hoping it was just his cock?
Saint Jude Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 look more muscular to me... very similar to how he went off at Arsenal...
Smirking_Saint Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 If it's his hammy, it's the third time he's done it this season. Seems injury prone. Takes a while to get over hamstring injuries, you need to get rid of the scar tissue or else it will just tear when you stretch too far. Shame, he could play in 2-4 weeks probably, 3-6 to be completely sure IMO
Nolan Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 How bad? Looked like a 6-8 week-er to me. When's Yoshida back? Yoshida probably won't be available until QPR on February 7th
SNSUN Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 TF it's the transfer window. Bring in a CB loanee should be a priority now. I'd rather Vic or Cork weren't our CB back ups.
Saint Martini Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 TF it's the transfer window. Bring in a CB loanee should be a priority now. I'd rather Vic or Cork weren't our CB back ups. Perhaps recalling one of the CBs we already have under contract is preferable.
The Cat Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 Wanyama could cover at CB in a crisis. Would be a shame for Stephens or Turnball to be recalled when they are doing so well on loan and getting match time to help their progression.
Matthew Le God Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 Would be a shame for Stephens or Turnball to be recalled when they are doing so well on loan and getting match time to help their progression. Big Jos to return ? Jason McCarthy will probably be back on the bench until Yoshida returns.
SNSUN Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 Perhaps recalling one of the CBs we already have under contract is preferable. I was under the impression you cannot break a season long loan...? MLG?
Saint Charlie Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 Hooiveld not even good enough to figure for a mediocre Norwich. Not coming back here, we have moved on.
Turkish Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 Takes a while to get over hamstring injuries, you need to get rid of the scar tissue or else it will just tear when you stretch too far. Shame, he could play in 2-4 weeks probably, 3-6 to be completely sure IMO Rushed back too soon do you think?
St Chalet Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 We cannot recall Stephens or Turnbull. Looks like young McCarthy is next cab off the rank at CB. 6.6.3 http://www.thefa.com/~/media/files/thefaportal/governance-docs/rules-of-the-association/2013-14/standardised-rules.ashx Long Term Loan Transfers shall be for a full Playing Season; or from any date prior to 31stAugust to any date between 1st and 31st January; or from any date between 1st and 31stJanuary (the January transfer window) to the end of the Playing Season. eurosaint Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 In a weird way, this probably increases our chance of getting him on a perm. deal. Out of the shop window for a few weeks, whilst we thrash out the deal in the BG. What's the BG ??
Saint_clark Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 What's the BG ?? Background? Weirdest abbreviation i've ever seen IML. (In my life).
St Chalet Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 Would be good to have him back for the West Ham game which is just over 4 weeks. He'll miss Ipswich, Newcastle, Potentially Palace, Swansea and QPR if so.
Saint86 Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamstring To all our hamstring injury experts... Christ... Where exactly do you think the hamstring is!
Bad Wolf Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 Didn't he do his hammy at Arsenal and only miss one game? In any event I thought Gardos did really well today but with Fonte and Gardos being our CB pairing, we have NO cover there if anything happens to them. I know Wanyama could probably fill in there and I think Schneiderlin has in the past as well but the problem there is we'd miss them both in CM. Cork is now back in training isn't he? I seem to remember that in his first spell with us, he was a CB so I'm guessing he could probably slot in there.
eurosaint Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 Background? Weirdest abbreviation i've ever seen IML. (In my life). Weird indeed as background is all one word but thanks for letting me know !
St Chalet Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 To be fair, Koeman said hamstring. Obvious to most it was a Quad injury.
Goatboy Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 He was holding himself mid-thigh. I'm hoping it was just his cock?
VectisSaint Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 (edited) Big Jos to return ? Please no, would be better to register Ronald as a player. Perhaps Liverpool could loan us Lovern Edited 11 January, 2015 by VectisSaint
Smirking_Saint Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 Rushed back too soon do you think? Bit of both, perhaps, hard to judge though as often everything feels fine, if you go just too far then the scar tissue gives way as its more brittle then normal muscle, IE it doesnt stretch
pangy Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 Please no, would be better to register Ronald as a player. Perhaps Liverpool could loan us Lovern I woud just like to clarify I was joking when suggesting Jos returns
SFC Chris Posted 11 January, 2015 Posted 11 January, 2015 Wanyama could cover at CB in a crisis. Would be a shame for Stephens or Turnball to be recalled when they are doing so well on loan and getting match time to help their progression. Wanyama is just as comfortable at centre back so no problem moving him there if Cork is back. Gardos did look quite assured tonight which was good. Hopefully Toby's injury isn't anythint major, however.

As far as I can determine, it has not been extended but Swindon wants to. http://www.football-league.co.uk/news/article/2014/swindon-town-sign-southamptons-jack-stephens-on-loan-1962482.aspx
SNSUN Posted 12 January, 2015 Posted 12 January, 2015 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamstring To all our hamstring injury experts... Christ... Where exactly do you think the hamstring is! I wish my gluteus maximus was as toned as that...
LostBoys Posted 12 January, 2015 Posted 12 January, 2015 Disappointing - lets hope it is not too serious
markr27 Posted 12 January, 2015 Posted 12 January, 2015 He let out a loud **** after he felt it, and punched the ground in frustration... It therefore may be a bit more serious than his previous injury,
Son of Bob Posted 12 January, 2015 Posted 12 January, 2015 It looked from his reaction that he knew he'd done something nasty. I reckon 6 weeks.
suewhistle Posted 12 January, 2015 Posted 12 January, 2015 I've had GM injuries twice: once deep in the muscle where I had so much pain and lack of control that I headed the ground with my nose, and earlier this season where I just tore the muscle sheath in training. The second time my recovery was _much_ quicker, so let's hope it's that..
Saint_Tony Posted 12 January, 2015 Posted 12 January, 2015 We will be fine whilst he's out, Gardos will do a good job for us for a few games.
Roger Posted 12 January, 2015 Posted 12 January, 2015 We will be fine whilst he's out, Gardos will do a good job for us for a few games. You're missing point. If Gardos or fonte get injured we are in trouble. With champs league at stake one game under strength may be difference.
Saint_clark Posted 12 January, 2015 Posted 12 January, 2015 It looked from his reaction that he knew he'd done something nasty. I reckon 6 weeks. It's possible his reaction was just because it was early on in a crucial game, nothing more.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 12 January, 2015 Posted 12 January, 2015 It's possible his reaction was just because it was early on in a crucial game, nothing more. That's what I took it for. I got the feeling it was more disappointment than pain.
S-Clarke Posted 12 January, 2015 Posted 12 January, 2015 It's possible his reaction was just because it was early on in a crucial game, nothing more. That's how I saw it, we'd started pretty well, he was playing well, we had a game plan...and then bang. I'd be pretty ****ed too! He was apparently on crutches etc, but the policy is that we immobilize any leg injury directly after - even if it's nothing too bad. He is such a class act though, best CB i've seen play for us. Just really hope it's not bad.
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 12 January, 2015 Posted 12 January, 2015 I said last season that I thought Big Vic could play at CB if required. I still think he could do a good job there. I'd rather see him play at CB than Cork.
VectisSaint Posted 12 January, 2015 Posted 12 January, 2015 Background? Weirdest abbreviation i've ever seen IML. (In my life). Not really, if you're from a software/computing background.
Charlie Wayman Posted 12 January, 2015 Posted 12 January, 2015 Usually understood to mean British Gas if you have a City / Finance background....
Matthew Le God Posted 12 January, 2015 Posted 12 January, 2015 Kristof Terreur @HLNinEngeland · 2m2 minutes ago Toby Alderweireld will be out between 3 and 4 weeks with a muscle injury. #saintsfc
Saint Charlie Posted 12 January, 2015 Posted 12 January, 2015 Out for 3-4 weeks according to the usually reliable Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur (@HLNinEngeland). Not the worst case news I guess. Could only miss 3 league games.
