Gaston off to Boca (possibly)

It's funny how we cannot find a buyer for the complete disasters that are Osvaldo and Ramírez. I think what this shows is that we overpaid in both wages and fees for these two. Nobody seems to want to stump up anywhere near our outlay which is unsurprising particularly when you consider there on the field lack of success!

We got 'shafted' on those two deals.

Problem is that Saints and the PL are such big news at the moment that all football people will know that Osvaldo & Ramirez couldn't cut the mustard here whereas lesser lights have really shown that they can be top class players. Hence no interest in our on-loan fading stars.

Let's be honest we have such a reputation for turning raw rocks into diamonds that if it was possible to do anything with these characters Saints would have found a way. That may or may not be reality but I'll bet that's how football folk the world over see it.

I don't remember anyone saying it at the time, both were seen as us pushing on by the fans and expressions of ambitition to the other players. All transfers are gambles.

Ramirez just hasn't pushed on as much as it was thought he would. He was young when we signed him and was seen as a great start player in the making. We weren't shafted, it just didn't quite work out and the player hasn't developed as expected. Osvaldo is perhaps a different matter, because of his antics, and clearly he really didn't want to be here.

Exactly - I agree that we weren't shafted, it's ludicrous to think we were. Most fans were excited by both signing, just that one turned out to be a d*ck who doesn't want to play here and the other wants to play, but is just simply not suited to the Premier League for whatever reason. I think Ramirez is a very good footballer, but he's probably just too "slow" - he'd do well in Serie A.

These were both rather dubious " panic buys " in their own way.

Ramirez in our first season up, when we needed someone to " better the squad " - he didn't. Never really adjusted to the Prem.level and rarely played a whole game, and never got to be better than Lallana.

Osvaldo was Pochettino's choice in thinking he could reform his " bad boy" image. Didn't work - ask Jose Fonte. Showed flashes of brilliance, but a "wanabee superstar", but couldn't play as a team member.

A bad call...perhaps two bad calls. Clearly neither of these would have made it ...out of the " Black Box" - had it been in operation, and correctly applied.
