West Ham were going to send their own physios to the ACON to look after Sakho as they were ****ed off that he got injured last time he was away with Senegal and they didnt think much of the care. Wonder if we may do similar. If Koeman says up to 6 weeks and Mane 2 then one of them is telling porkies...

The9 Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 I'd be VERY surprised if Saints were allowed to pick him for the duration of the AFCON without Senegal at the very least being satisfied he's genuinely injured, there are previous instances of nations preventing clubs picking players until after the international break is over - if Senegal think we've pulled a fast one, FIFA's regulations allow the suspension of a player from club duty. There's also the risk that they might play him if he is half-fit, a la Agustin Delgado.

A real buzz and privilege or a bit of a chore? I guess it maybe depends if their first pick for a side in a decent league or floating around on the bench in a 2-bit league?

Considering that Morocco refused to host the tournament at all due to their ebola worries, it's at least a vaguely valid concern. Though admittedly Africa is a bloody big place and it's not like they've moved it anywhere with an outbreak or got any teams playing from countries which have the problem, as they were suspended at the qualifying stage.

That Scottish nurse seemed to get through, albeit the screening was likely to be inadequate, but do you think it would be any better in the relevant places in Africa?

Although to be fair, if he was "6 weeks" from New Year's Day and they got to the Final on February 8th, it might be worth keeping him around. If he's "ready in 2 weeks" as suggested above, their group games are 19th, 23rd, 27th, QF on 2nd Feb and SF on 4th/5th Feb. No doubt his "ready in 2 weeks" is designed to say he'll be fit in time for the tournament start.
