Schneiderlin Speculation

If / when he does leave, we'll likely have a fee of £20m+ and wages of £40k+ a week we can spend on a replacement. Who do people think are realistic? Clasie is the obvious one but he may command a similar fee? Reed is an option but he's no direct replacement (yet).

Without Cork, and Davis / JWP both better further forward, it's a definite area to strengthen if Schneiderlin does leave.

I'd like to see more of Reed and Victor towards the end of the season ,maybe push Morgan a little further forward?

Clasie would probably cost circa £15m, but my word, he is bl00dy good.

There is surely a big pay day for both Morgan and SFC here.

Regardless of our eventual League finish (Euro place or not), he really is good enough to play in any club anywhere in Europe.

No! .....I don't want him to leave either, but it looks on the cards and my thought is :

Is he a better player than our former captain?....and is he worth a bigger fee than (said player)....?

I'm not going to start "comparing" him to others, but several Prem. sides have already paid out £30 million+ on top players - should we expect less in the auction ....(for his signature)..that is bound to come in the summer?

The "Black Box" must be bursting with suggestions for his (eventual) replacement....and a selling price of that magnitude is more than a seasons' ticket sales

Biscuits is leaving. Wants to try his hand in the English Premier League, don't you know! Maybe we could do a swapperooo - they get Morgan, we get Biscuits plus £20M! :p

Strangely enough Busquets is just about to extend his contract at Barca up until 2019, apparently he has a buy out clause of ...wait for it...150 million euros. Still not sure that Barca can recruit anyone before January 2016 so it makes sense to not make it easy for any current regular to leave them.

All Spanish players have ridiculous minimum clauses as they have to have one in their contracts. Nothing to do with how much they rate him at.

A Spurs season ticket holder told me last night that "we are really looking forward to getting Morgan in the summer". When I laughed, told him no chance, that MS is way too good for them, he could play for anyone he is that good, etc etc, he genuinely thought it was a **** take and was totally bemused. Delusion is alive and well in North London

if you'd ask me a season or two ago, I would say he was a nailed-on target for Arsenal. He'd be perfect in their midfield which is so dependent on an injury-prone Aaron Ramsay, and "Smokin' Jack" Wilshere. Özil is a good player (IMO), but I just never see him fitting in properly.

Wenger's preference for French players is obvious, although I'm sure that the fact they both come from Strasborg wouldn't have had any bearing on that decision, it now feels that someone maybe opening the door for Arsene, after almost 19 years.... the success has been very thin in the last 10 years (aside from last years FA Cup that is).....and to think that until last week they were still struggling to overtake us in the Prem....even with the depth of their squad.

If Arsenal's season fails to deliver Euro football and Wenger were to go...the attraction of yet another Frenchman in the squad might not appeal to a new manager.....

Oh ....I agree with that!.

Nearly every Spuds fan I've met in the last 50 years, seemed to think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread, despite the fact that only their grandfathers can remember those " Glory, Glory Days ".

If they think that Pochettino will restore that, they need to hold their breath until after the League Cup Final....and to think MP dismissed the Cup competitions (with us) last season as irrelevant, and of no value. A defeat v. Chelsea would leave them dependent on finishing above us.... and that's a thought to savour.

Recently Morgan has either been injured or not at his best, he cost us on sunday. I would prefer young Reed at the moment. MS will go in the summer but the value is falling. Lucky if we get £20m, probably nearer £12m, out of form and injury prone

He isnt exactly injury prone tbh, he has had a few injuries this year but in general has had a pretty consistant run overall. As for form, his last game before injury was Utd, within which he was excellent. He wasnt at his best against liverpool but I certainly didnt see him being particularly poor.

Quite away ahead of young Reed right now, who apart from having incredible industry and tenacity simply isnt expansive enough yet

Absolute arse wash. That's an Arsenal supporter writing to appease other Arsenal fans. Rehash of a rehash of a rehash. I truly hope Morgan goes abroad in the summer, and I'd even rather we got less for him by doing that than selling him to a Prem club.

He was absolutely awesome yesterday:

He became only the sixth player this season to make ten tackles in a match and the first to win possession on more than 20 occasions in a single game.

I am not sure how on earth we can replace him. If we could, others would be buying the player in the first place.

Interesting that the highest number of tackles by one player in a Premier League game this season is by Harrison Reed with 12 against Everton.

If he goes will be to Bayern Munich............want him to stay but watch this space...........

Would be a good destination for Morgan. What a game he had on Sunday - the way he covered the LB space for Bertrand if RB had tracked into attack was superb, keeping the dangerous Willian under control. Will remain a Saints legend long after his departure.

Spurs are desperate for Morgan, their latest move appears to be valuing Schneiderlin at only £20m but they can't afford that, so they are going to offer some absolute ****e as well in a bid to drive the price down

Tottenham are confident they will win the race to sign Southampton star Morgan Schneiderlin this summer and are prepared to offer Andros Townsend or Benjamin Stambouli to help secure the deal.

Arsenal and Chelsea also have the France international on their wish-lists, but Spurs now believe he will come to White Hart Lane.

Chelsea currently have the midfielder as just one of their back-up options while they pursue big name targets like Koke and Paul Pogba, while Arsenal are having second thoughts due to the fast development of Francis Coquelin.

Tottenham tried to buy Schneiderlin last summer only for Southampton to block his departure.

But the 25-year-old, who enjoyed a fine relationship with Spurs manager Maurico Pochettino before he left St Mary's Stadium for north London in May 2014, wants to leave the club again this summer.

Southampton will demand over £20m for his signature, but Spurs are prepared to offer squad players Townsend or Stambouli to help convince them to sell and for a lower price.

Townsend has started just 10 League games this term, however can still command a large fee in the transfer market due to his involvement with England, where he scored a great goal against Italy last month.

I guess Spurs have missed all the references Morgan has made about playing in the champions league then:lol:

Also this swap stuff has to be crap doesn't it? Spurs can offer all the players they like if the players don't want to come here the deal can't go through.

Assuming Morgan doesn't leave the PL for someone like PSG/Monaco/Dortmund etc. there are very few clubs that he would consider/would consider him;

Man United - linked heavily with Gundogan and already have Blind, Herrara, and Carrick for another 12 months.

Chelsea - Khedira on a free would be the most obvious choice for them given his relationship with Mourinho

Arsenal - Have always been interested but also seem keen on Gundogan and a whole host of other DM's. Would they pay £25m+?

Liverpool - No champions league football. They will probably look to replace Gerrard but would they spend £25m+ given how last summer went and seeing as they already have Henderson, Allen and Lucas.

Tottenham - Surely a sideways step for Morgan, especially if we get Europe. He loves Poch, but seems as though he enjoys playing under Ronald as well, so doubt this would be a massive factor anymore. No guarantee of CL football anytime soon, very hard to see what a move to Spurs would achieve.

That leaves the only club that haven't actually been linked with him;

Man City - Yaya going and the fact that I believe Morgan counts as a homegrown player would be potential reasons for him to go there. Yaya is obviously far more attacking minded than Morgan, but if he was deployed in a similar role he would certainly offer them the defensive workrate that Yaya hasnt provided. City could obviously afford him, CL is always guaranteed and would give him opportunities to win big trophies.

He's not going to go to Spurs, he wants CL football.

I think he admires MP and MP admires him....but as you said..Man City could be an option, and what makes Morgan especially attractive to English clubs is his ''home-grown'' status....

I don't think he'll go to Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool or Spurs.....so in this country, it's between City and Arsenal IMO. I don't think anywhere else is a sensible move.

Windows is probably the expert on this, but they look well stocked with Verrati, Pastore, Matudi and Cabaye.

I wonder if we'll have the situation of no club actually making any decent bids for him, again.

Morgan won't go to PSG, Pogba or some S.Am hotshot will no doubt.

PSG don't do French, I mean they've got a few for show but they hardly ever play. It's a french club in name only, Qatar FC

is what they should be called.

As I've said before, I really don't see many landing points for Morgan, Arsenal...if they were going to sign him it would have been long ago and certainly not for the amount we'll be asking. Chelsea maybe but I doubt that, Citeh..depends on the new manager, AS Rome...if he wants to go there and if they have the money and perhaps Naples. These are the only CL clubs who might need him and I just don't see any of them lashing out the money that gets bandied about on this forum. Could well be with us next season.,

Roma still have Rossi don't they? Who plays in the same position and is arguably better.

Not better and plays as a CB often enough, they have Strootman though and that would be the key to Morgan eventually going there. If Strootman signs for Man U that will start a chain reaction.

Aren't United being strongly linked with Nigel de Jong.
