Koeman to Barca

Apparently if Joan Laporta regains control of Barca he will bring in Cryuff as Sporting Director and he wants Koeman as Manager.

Source: De Telegraaf

Koeman todaysl says he is happy here now and sees himself as Barca Manager in the future.

Mine opinion: He will probably stay until end of next season and then move on. Top Manager and seems a really decent and honourable guy.

When asked about the Barca position he said he would "respect my contract at Southampton", which if taken literally means he'll be here longer than one season.

Yes, I know, I know..... :)

We might sack him next year because he doesn't really have a Plan B.

I cant really stand it.

It is rather annoying that SSN give us 'twitter updates' and it is now an added section to the BBC gossip column with no gossip. Just that player X thinks that his ice cream tastes like XXXX or something pointless

If only everything on the internet was as enlightening as you, eh?

He hasnt had an approach yet, it would be foolish to comment on something that isnt likely to happen. Like it or not if Barca come knocking I fully expect him to take it and wouldnt blame him.

He isnt going to come out and say 'Id take it if offered' before an approach is made through fear of upsetting the fan base.

Charlie stop worrying. Let's enjoy koeman and not worry about what will happen when.

Im not worried about Koeman at all. He will leave for bigger things at some point having done a great job and raised the profile of the club.

More concerned that we are one bout of flu away from a 39 year old Kelvin back in goal! :D

He may grow saints and not go to bigger things who knows. The next Russian billionaire may take us over tommorow .

As long as Clyne doesn't go Liverpool, Spurs or Man U, I'm not too fussed. Funnily, they're the three clubs he's linked with.

The players I'll be psychologically at peace with (even though the immediate pain will be strong) if they leave:

Schneiderlin

Alderweireld

Ward Prowse (bizarrely)

Pelle

Tadic

Fonte

Bertrand

The people I will hysterically cry over:

Koeman

Clyne

Wanyama

Targett

Reed

Reed

Rodruigez

The ones I can't predict my reaction, but I suspect tears might be involved:

Mane

Gallagher

No idea why some are in one category and others in the other. But that's the way it is.

Thanks for listening, this was therapeutical.

What on earth he said that is wrong there. Had he said " Koemans not good enough for Barca , he's an average manager " no doubt you would get your knickers in a twist over that.

This. People forget that he was probably asked a question about it, and is paid to give an answer.

Koeman is still young and improving. As discussed on here the other day Barcelona generally appoint one of their own as manager so I'm sure he knows at some point he will get a shot at being their manager. That's why he's so cool about it. Leaving Saints halfway through his first season won't look good for him even if doing well at the time but if he can guide us to our best ever Premier League finish and a good cup run his CV would look better and he'll be happier.

Koeman mentions an "exit clause"... I wonder exactly what that entails?

A website you can really trust.

So much so, it doesn't even trust itself to identify its journalists.

I'm not sure in what instance their particular brand of aggressive, investigative journalism would have been carried out.

It would not have been in a one-to-one interview, and if it was in a presser, others would have picked up on this line.

I don't recall seeing this on any reputable website or in any newspaper.

Don't get me wrong, I'm aware of the site's reliability in that they'd print any rumour. I like to believe they would not manufacture direct quotes however as this is surely verifiable and can come back to haunt them in a big way.

Here's an online translation of the original article FWIW:

http://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/koeman-barca-vuelto-ser-siempre-3924438

After a December intense and full of parties, including the first of January had to play !, Ronald Koeman could take two days off which he used to travel to London with his wife.

In the City, in next to Hyde Park, Koeman always admired SPORT attended with his usual cordiality, temple and hotel view of things.

Happy in England in Southampton ...

Much, much, really. It's amazing the ease with which it works in England.

He did not tell the press ...

(Laughs) Well, something has to do, yes. In our sports city not see a single journalist except on Fridays, when I do the weekly press conference.

Nothing to do with the club ...

It's part of his greatness, right? The key is to manage and live with that reality. It's not easy, of course, but not impossible.

Do you think the environment Barça is more harmful than bad results?

Put it in reverse: in the club, as in Madrid, if things do not work, you go to the street. The environment has always existed and will exist. We must learn to relativize everything and not give importance to things. Everyone there thinks of everything ... every day.

Have you seen Barça play this season?

Yes, several times, both in Champions League and League. The last match was against Atletico Madrid and I must say that I loved the team, I was impressed from start to finish.

What did he see?

Many virtues, many. I found a team with intensity, he knew moving the ball quickly, which began defensively pressure on the opponent's defensive line and, as always, was able to combine to perfection. A large concentration of each share, assuming a controlled risk of craft, because Atletico if you have a virtue is its own motion.

For it was in crisis ...

That's what I said before. Stop win two games, besides Real Madrid runs away, and there are mess. So the club, you have to live with that. Weeks later he has turned the tables.

Are you surprised by Luis Enrique?

No, because as a player and was a guy with great tenacity and great delivery. And as a coach, but I do not know him, so I explained, is very professional. If I judge by what I've seen, no doubt the club has returned to what it was before, but with nuances, of course.

¿At Guardiola?

Phew ...! Pep arrive after, if I may say, is a *****, because it is virtually impossible to improve what he did. I had a number of players at the perfect age, at full maturity, dismasted his opponents with a football ever seen before and now another club ...

Come on, he looks favorite to win league, cup and Champions ...

Coaches know that throughout a season be ups and downs and many setbacks. If the team is able to maintain this level of play and respect him injuries and penalties to the moment of truth, of course you can aspire to everything. Now the competition is very tough. The Real Madrid is always a terrible enemy and Europe are Bayern Munich, Chelsea ... I'll stick with the big picture that is giving the club in recent games.

Soon there will be a Barça-Manchester City team you have faced ...

Barca is better than the City today and also has the advantage of playing the second leg at the Camp Nou. Barça is always favorite because it has the virtue of play just at home than away, never goes to defend or temporize. The City has a great quality, no doubt, and compete very well, but I think it will come to overcome the current Barça.

Le I have to ask the question ...

What question?

Do you see one day, finally, coaching the club?

The club now has a great coach, it is Luis Enrique, and hopefully that will go well, because I rejoice me. Think I'm 'hurdle', professional football, but FC Barcelona, and I wish him well at Barça, always ...

You have not answered me, Ronald ...

See, with the same sincerity I will say that for someone who has been part of the Dream Team, the history of Barça is a dream, or was it a dream to one day return to Camp Nou. For years I do not think about it, really. Certainly I was very close to the bench on occasion, but there is life after Barça and will be just that, life, which in the future will tell us whether there will be that opportunity. This is a Ferris wheel and takes many turns. Here today, gone tomorrow ...

In July there are elections for president of FC Barcelona ...

Yes, I'm told. So?

Just a candidate has you ...

I have three years of contract with Southampton and I have what is called 'clause' exhaust. I have to devote myself to mine, which is attempting to classify the team for Europe, which is a wonderful challenge for the club and the city. And everything else, from a distance.

That's got you from afar, Ronald!
