Roger Posted 5 January, 2015 Posted 5 January, 2015 Surely must be a good chance. Not many replays from the round.
nta786 Posted 5 January, 2015 Posted 5 January, 2015 We will have to wait and see. Hope so - I cant make Ipswich midweek
Dark Munster Posted 5 January, 2015 Posted 5 January, 2015 Spurs v. Burnley is the main competitor from that evening. If Everton v. West ham goes to a replay will it also be on that night? Hopefully not.
JRM Posted 6 January, 2015 Posted 6 January, 2015 BBC currently have a slot in their schedule for Wednesday 14th Jan to show a replay on BBC1 which conveniently conicides with the date of our game. I should imagine BT Sport will also show a game on Tuesday. Our game should be on based on 2nd in championship home to 4th in Premier League but you never know.

Much safer to go with the all prem game. God knows why they put Arse Hull on the TV (possible reason if was repeat of the cup final)
stevegrant Posted 6 January, 2015 Posted 6 January, 2015 God knows why they put Arse Hull on the TV (possible reason if was repeat of the cup final) Because Arsenal have a massive fanbase who will watch the game, giving the BBC a big audience share and therefore justifying the use of part of the licence fee to acquire the FA Cup broadcasting rights at great expense. You could easily make a case for any of the three games being televised that night, even Bradford v Millwall on the basis that the winners get to go to Stamford Bridge. They'd probably get Chelsea fans watching it for that reason.
Sour Mash Posted 6 January, 2015 Posted 6 January, 2015 Guess they announce tv games today or tomorrow? Got to be done fairly soon.
John Boy Saint Posted 6 January, 2015 Posted 6 January, 2015 You would think there is a chance as it's the last remaining "cup shock" possibility of the round, as they missed the QPR one with a cursory glance.

SaintBobby Posted 6 January, 2015 Posted 6 January, 2015 The game is def on Weds, right? Surely it's more interesting than f-ing Spurs....
adysaint Posted 6 January, 2015 Posted 6 January, 2015 It looks like Spurs Burnley. I noticed the KO time changed on the BBC website since yesterday from 19:45 to 20:00
Batman Posted 6 January, 2015 Posted 6 January, 2015 God knows why they put Arse Hull on the TV (possible reason if was repeat of the cup final) TV ratings announced earlier tell you why

kwsaint Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 Still gonna go I think. Will be the last game I can go to before I'm off to Africa so a nice Saints win away from home will be appropriate.
Saint Garrett Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 Still going, bit of a shame as that'll stop a fair few going. Still should get 1000 up there I would think.
david in sweden Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 ..did manage to listen to a commentary on the game via Radio Suffolk local radio - (shame about the result)..but in the worst eventuality they're sure to broadcast the replay.
Ulrich van Gobbel Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 (edited) Confirmed - The replay will be shown on BBC. I was convinced they'd go with one of the all Premier League ties. http://mobile.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/20150107-ipswich-town-fa-cup-replay-bbc-2187386.aspx 3 games on TV in 6 days, what could go wrong? Edited 7 January, 2015 by Ulrich van Gobbel
Saint_Tony Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 We won't win that then! I remember bbc showing our 3-0 championship defeat at Blackpool. We also missed a pen, think it might have been Guly? 1-0 Ipswich, McGoldrick

One of the few games Lambert missed that season and my god did we miss him!

One of the few games Lambert missed that season and my god did we miss him! remember that game, we were shyte. Also, the performance lead us to rush lambert back for the pompey game not long after. he was not so good in that one either

Beckenham Saint Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 remember that game, we were shyte. Also, the performance lead us to rush lambert back for the pompey game not long after. he was not so good in that one either Horrible memories watching that B'pool game. Still, how things have changed for both of us since then! I've just noticed that this one being on the Beeb means that all three of our away games next week are on TV, as United / Newcastle are both on Sky Sports 1!

I've just noticed that this one being on the Beeb means that all three of our away games next week are on TV, as United / Newcastle are both on Sky Sports 1! yeah, thought that too. I think the fixtures (annoying as it is having 3 in a week) are in the right order. united away will be very tough, ipswich away not quite but still tough where as newcastle have half a team out injured, a moron in charge and sissoko on his way (maybe)
JRM Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 i think the last time we were on BBC was Coventry at home in the last game of the Championship season, 4-0 win and a great pitch invasion so at least our record there isn't too bad, although the Blackpool game was dreadful. I remember beating Ipswich a couple of times in the Cup, 2010 at home and away in 99 -00 season Dean Richards header, that was midweek i think as well? good omens anyway. a lot will depend on how fit our squad stays, if Clyne is back, and if the new forward Elia can do the business
The9 Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 Dunno if we're allowed to pick Elia, isn't there some rule about only being able to play players who were eligible for the first tie, which he wasn't.
angelman Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 Dunno if we're allowed to pick Elia, isn't there some rule about only being able to play players who were eligible for the first tie, which he wasn't. Wasn't he available? I thought that he wasn't match fit, but signed on 3rd Jan at 00:01
Batman Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 Wasn't he available? I thought that he wasn't match fit, but signed on 3rd Jan at 00:01 didnt the window open at 0001 on the 5th???
The9 Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 (edited) Wasn't he available? I thought that he wasn't match fit, but signed on 3rd Jan at 00:01 The FA Cup deadline was noon on Friday 2nd, none of the transfers agreed in the Jan 1-2 timeframe were able to be processed by FIFA's transfer system until 3rd, so no-one signed in the Jan TW could play in the FA Cup 3rd Round. That still doesn't explain whether he's eligible for the replay. Edited 7 January, 2015 by The9
The9 Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 BBC reports that Transfer Window opened on Jan 3rd. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/30649956

whelk Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 Slightly off topic and may have been mentioned already but wtf is with Tuesday game and nothing on tv on Saturday. Magic of the cup but Beeb and BT are contributing to killing it, well lessening interest at least - assume not the FAs doing? Imagine Big Sam moaning about less time to prepare for weekend etc Many suggesting that replays are near end of life as well.

Imagine Big Sam moaning about less time to prepare for weekend etc Many suggesting that replays are near end of life as well. You nearly gave me a heart attack then saying "Tuesday game", thought you meant Ipswich v Saints, which is (still) on the Wednesday. Right, I get that you're referring to Everton v West Ham - not too bothered about them dragging the cup games out to Monday and Tuesday nights, but the not having any matches on tv on the Saturday thing was ridiculous. I think the reason for it was actually the holiday schedule - Prem teams played on Thursday 1st whilst Football League clubs didn't, and because the BBC wanted to show Prem teams, they couldn't work out a way to get games on the Saturday. Only Leicester v Newcastle and Villa from the Prem played on the Saturday, I think. Personally, I would have had no problem with Blyth v Birmingham at noon or 5:30pm on the Saturday - what it did was create a two-tier FA Cup, with FL stuff mostly on the Saturday and Prem on Sunday/Monday/Tuesday. They missed a trick not showing Blyth live though.

But surely he was eligible to play the original tie, as his transfer was dated 3rd Jan. He wasn't selected for it as he wasn't match fit. He may get some game time vs Man U, and may be given more game time vs Piswich? Where is my logic in error, peeps?

Some crappy FA rules - he is unable to play in the replay. Couldn't believe they pushed out the FA Cup games into the week, they should alwasy be on the Saturday and Sunday, and then the draw at lunchtime on a Monday.
The Cat Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 I was there too. My mate left because he had money on us to win and was so stressed watching us defend the lead after Ipswich got a late goal that he went back to the pub and missed it.

In order to play in the original tie he would have had to be registered by 12:00 noon on Friday 2nd. Any player must be eligible for the original tie in order to feature in any replay. 15. Celebrations were carnage when that went in. Probably in my top 5 awaydays.
John Boy Saint Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 Lets just hope the floodlights stay on. That was quite good fun that night, even more amusing they were sponsored by Powergen.
Ziggy Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 I'm in Bulgaria skiing with two games on live while I'm away! Great stuff!
