Professor Posted 6 January, 2015 Share Posted 6 January, 2015 I'm Very frustrated Reading all this criticsm of fellow contributors to this forum. Grow up will you and respect other people's opinions. This needed saying. We are all Saints' fans but a small minority seem more intent on criticising fellow fans than participating in adult debate. The culprits could do worse than consider the famous quote from Voltaire who said (en Francais, bien sûr) "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." My ignore list is still short but I'd far prefer not have an ignore list at all.
Matthew Le God Posted 6 January, 2015 Share Posted 6 January, 2015 (edited) It is useful, unless you assume Football Manager doesn't know what it is talking about. I assume they do not have exact figures but have some source of inside information. I could be wrong though but, as I stated in the post, in the past their total salary figure for the team as a whole was consistent with the information publically revealed by the club. We do use the publicly revealed wage total as an aid to help try and get the individual salaries at the right level. SI do use numerous contacts within the game, agents/players/board members for finance information. Most of the researchers are fans with very little in the way of inside information, some however do work for clubs and/or have good contacts. The rare times I've been "ITK" on this forum is because FM researchers employed at other clubs have told me. Of course the database and its research team has its flaws, but as far as publicly available football databases go, FM15 is the most comprehensive in the world. That is why professional football clubs pay to use the data we produce. I sort of assume that MLG reads these boards and comments when he wants to or is allowed to by his contract so I generally don't bother to ask him questions. But if he wants to tell us how he (or FM as a whole) comes up with their salary information I would be happy to find out. Researchers aren't under contract with Sports Interactive or SEGA. In regard to Toby Alderweireld, his wages and stats for FM15 were done by the Spanish research team, not me. Professor Posted 6 January, 2015 Share Posted 6 January, 2015 I just wonder why Toby should make a decision to sign now if it means a wage cut. Even if he believes his future may be with Saints he might as well wait until the end of the season when he will have more information on which to make his decision, for example, whether Southampton are in European competition. Maybe wants to feel he is more part of the future of the club, or feels there is always possibility that club may be offered someone else for the long term place? Get your point though, he is hardly likely to be short of offers from us or anyone else.

trousers Posted 20 February, 2015 Share Posted 20 February, 2015 Koeman said at today's pre-match press conference that they are hoping to sort out a permanent contract in "1 to 2 months" but that (obviously) depends on whether Toby wants to stay or not. Also confirmed he should be back in action next week (alas, not this weekend).

Would be a ridiculously good signing for a permanent.

I don't have an ignore list either, but there are several pedantic posters whom I choose to ignore.....in the forlorn hope that they may eventually " lighten up "....but life is short and nothing is certain.
