JibMcdo Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 People trying to show horn players into the wing back positions - that formation is only possible if Clyne and Bertrand are playing. ---------Forster Toby Fonte Gardos Targett JWP Reed Morgan Tadic -------Long Pelle Davis and Wanyama played a lot of minutes recently, could do with a day off probably.
nta786 Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 I might be wrong but I think I heard McCarthy say that Bart won't start?! Shame if so lol. Answering my own question again lol, Bart will not play, instead Gerken will. This is du to fear of injury. http://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town/team_news_mccarthy_will_freshen_his_side_up_for_fa_cup_tie_at_southampton_1_3903849

Yeah I would do that- however, id play this as a 433 formation, not 442- and maybe throw McCarthy in for Toby...
Bad Wolf Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 I for one hope Bart and McGoldrick do play a part and I hope they'll be given a good reception by our fans. McGoldrick was only a good when he played for us, the pressure of doing so well in the academy was forced on him and he was thrown into a terrible, terrible Saints team as a loan/main striker during our relegation season and I think he got about 10 goals didn't he? Which given his age and given the situation isn't quite that bad. I'm pleased he's gone and made a career of himself elsewhere. Same goes for Bart, I quite liked him when he was here but he'll always be remembered for that home game with Blackpool where he had the worst goalkeeping performance I've ever seen at St Mary's but in general I think he did okay when called upon (apart from that game) and was always a good option to have as back up to Kelvin. So I really do hope they get clapped by our fans if they come on/start. In other news, I had a dream last night that we won 4-0 today but Yoshida scored the 4th goal so since he's gone to the Asian Cup, I don't think it was a prophecy Really looking forward to this though, glad I got my ticket when I did due to how fast they sold out. My second game of season, the first being the 4-0 win over Newcastle. I think we'll win 2-1, Long and JWP for us and McGoldrick for them (hopefully he'll have the decency not to celebrate too much if he does score). COYR!!!
Saint Charlie Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Will be good to see how Long does against a decent Championship defence today.
Batman Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Just to get it in early, SportsnationHD have reported that there is no tv showing our game today and therefore they won't be able to show it. Consequently there should be no streams at all, but if you do post it here. Bummer dave merrington it is then
GarrettIvo Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 dave merrington it is then Can't even get that here. But I can watch United v Yeovil Town. Zippadeedoodah.
The Cat Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Just took the kids down to get autographs. No sign of Schneiderlin but he could have snuck in the front entrance with Pelle to avoid signing anything. Everyone else you'd expect was there.
Winchester Red Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 If Morgan doesn't play after missing the last game, watch the rumours fly
Window Cleaner Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 If Morgan doesn't play after missing the last game, watch the rumours fly On the other hand it could be a club punishment for getting suspended twice in about 8 days. No match =no match fee and no bonus. Then again they could just fine him anyway. Expect he'll be there though, just not at lunch..don't they have the option of lunch or not lunch ? If he has visitors perhaps it's just a case of skipping club lunch.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 dave merrington it is then Does anyone know if you can get solent online if you're not in Hampshire?
gr00031 Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 You'd have thought Ipswich would rest a few players? Sitting second in the championship, with a great opportunity to get promoted surely would be the main priority as opposed to getting somewhere in the cup?
Faz Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Does anyone know if you can get solent online if you're not in Hampshire? No, you will either: 1. Sign up for Saints Player, or 2. Get someone with a radio tuned to Solent to Skype you
K,Billy's supersound Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/13629210 i believe radio solent is online as it is a cup game.
Saint Garrett Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Pretty sure you can. FA cup games are streamed online, but league games aren't.
Window Cleaner Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/13629210 i believe radio solent is online as it is a cup game. UK only though

Saint Matty 76 Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 So it's either... Forster JWP - Gardos - Fonte - Bertrand Davis - Wanyama - Schneiderlin Tadic - Pelle - Long Or something completely bizarre like.. Forster Gardos - Wanyama - Fonte Davis - Schneiderlin - JWP - Bertrand Tadic Pelle - Long Definitely the first one though, weird to see JWP at RB.
nta786 Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Davis or Ward-Prowse at right back? Im gonna guess JWP. Interesting that we've only made 2 changes. Very strong team then. 2-0 Saints

Viking Warrior Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 That will calm some of the bed wetters down seeing Morgan is in the starting line up
Saint Matty 76 Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 I think I'd rather see Wanyama at centre back than JWP at right back. Just have Wanyama do the Alderweireld sweeping role, could be quite interesting. Ah well, definitely a 4-3-3.
Saint_clark Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Saints have tweeted JWP at right-back. I think I'd rather see Wanyama at centre back than JWP at right back. Oh well Good luck Jimmy.
sentry Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Wow, waht a strong team, RK obviously is taking this comp seriously.
Saint_Tony Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Great to see RoKo respecting the competition, strong line up, Saints 3-1 Ipswich (Long x2, Tadic)
Saint_Tony Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 McGoldrick on the opposing side, not a lot to worry about
Saint-Armstrong Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 ipswich side? IPSWICH: Gerken; Mings, Berra, Smith, Chambers; Ambrose, Hyam, Bru, Hunt; McGoldrick, Murphy. BENCH: Bialkowski, Parr, Skuse, Clarke, Stewart, Bajner, Sammon.
Wade Garrett Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Would be good if some of the youngsters on the bench were given a bit of game time at some point.
Window Cleaner Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 (edited) Would be good if some of the youngsters on the bench were given a bit of game time at some point. Why ? Koeman obviously knows what they can do and doesn't want to start them so he must have his reasons really. Most of them have played a bit of late and they're not starting in a cup game. Good to see KD firmly nailed to the bench though. I was afraid we might give him a run out. Edited 4 January, 2015 by Window Cleaner
CB Fry Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 What a deliciously strong team. Looks like the "play a sh it team, so we can concentrate on the league" wet-dreamers will have to wait for our next manager because Ron ain't ever going to give you the satisfaction. Come on Saints.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Full crowd, strong team. Good stuff.

ExSt Peter Saint Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Feel a bit sorry for Targett and McCarthy for not being given a chance, especially the latter. Not much faith shown in the youth if a midfielder plays out of position instead.

Not much faith shown in the youth if a midfielder plays out of position instead. As I said Koeman obviously has his reasons, didn't think Targett was anything very great against Chelsea myself. Didn't get forward enough to suit our style.

Not much faith shown in the youth if a midfielder plays out of position instead. Bit of respect to Ipswich I imagine. Maybe a couple more changes if playing a lower ranked team. Don't want another Sheff utd defeat do we!
beatlesaint Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 As I said Koeman obviously has his reasons, didn't think Targett was anything very great against Chelsea myself. Didn't get forward enough to suit our style. Seriously ? First full Premiership game against the best team in the country, a side who ended up focusing on the wing he wasn't covering ? He had a great full League debut.

saintchris23 Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 So was Luke Shaw for his first 15-20 games or so. Strictly covering the defensive positions until being allowed to play more naturally.
Saint-Armstrong Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Ipswich with the biggest away following since St. Mary's opened in 2001.
