saintnicoolas Posted 30 December, 2014 Posted 30 December, 2014 (edited) could not help but notice manes theatrical dives during the Chelsea game and it got me thinking of previous saints players that also fell dramatically for the saints cause, any names crop up? simo Posted 30 December, 2014 Posted 30 December, 2014 It's not his falls that I don't like just that he doesn't get back up quick enough for me
shurlock Posted 30 December, 2014 Posted 30 December, 2014 Shane Long. [video=youtube_share;wybyKuvz2ys]
Turkish Posted 30 December, 2014 Posted 30 December, 2014 Gareth Bale. Our fans still trot out that hilarious chant everytime a play goes down under a challenge
Crazy Diamond Posted 30 December, 2014 Posted 30 December, 2014 [video=youtube_share;wybyKuvz2ys] Modern football. Got to love it. Recording chants for YouTube.
John Boy Saint Posted 30 December, 2014 Posted 30 December, 2014 It's not his falls that I don't like just that he doesn't get back up quick enough for me Not as long on the ground as Chelsea players who at the merest tap hit the deck and laid there like they had been taken out by a Sniper hidden in the floodlights using a high velocity rifle and Dum-Dum bullets.

It was Sheffield that really got to me hence my thread , went down just outside their box they broke and he was still on the floor moaning when they had reached our box ! Saying that atm the good outweigh the little gripes like that
doddisalegend Posted 30 December, 2014 Posted 30 December, 2014 (edited) Isn't diving just rampant in football now? It seems to happen all over. Must be nightmare for refs trying to sort out the real fouls from the play acting. Edited 30 December, 2014 by doddisalegend
Batman Posted 30 December, 2014 Posted 30 December, 2014 Isn't diving just rampant in football now? It seems to happen all over. Must be nightmare for refs trying to sort out the really fouls from the play acting. they should sort out basic officiating. the standards is so poor these days. without diving coming into it. every game there seem to be howlers from refs at the mo. Just last night. Gary Neville summed it up perfectly with Shelvey and Sterling....the ref and that lino will have lost huge credibility within the game for not punishing those players

Must be nightmare for refs trying to sort out the really fouls from the play acting. Martin Skrtel has made a career out of getting away with pulling shirts and fouling the opposition in the box at set pieces. Nothing is being done about it.

I still think it's not always easy for refs though who have to make split second decisions, through a crowd of bodies, without the benefit of dozens TV replays from lots of different angles like TV pundits and viewers.

I get it that it is not easy. never going to get perfection. some of the decisions would not really be talked about so much if many of the basics were done. I mean, how on earth long cant get a penalty when he gets booted 4ft in the air, I will never know. just plain awful officiating look at last night, the lino was stood between sterling and the player he hit. nothing happened, yet cisse (rightly) will get a 3 match ban just plain awful

Bearsy Posted 30 December, 2014 Posted 30 December, 2014 Love the youtube comment, "he thought it was his girlfriend"
Whitey Grandad Posted 30 December, 2014 Posted 30 December, 2014 how can he not see it. sterling nearly hits the lino so poor, it is laughable I agree, from that angle it looks ridiculous. It is foreshortened of course but he must at least have heard something.

John Cool Posted 31 December, 2014 Posted 31 December, 2014 The names that come to my mind have both been mentioned already: Hassan Kachloul did the worst dive I've ever seen (I think it was against Villa) and Marian Pahars got labelled as a diver resulting in him not getting free kicks / penalties when genuinely fouled.
Saint_Jonny Posted 31 December, 2014 Posted 31 December, 2014 Steven Naismith is one of the softest players I have ever seen live. The last two seasons that bloke has gone down more times than Katie Price.
