Mr X Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 No one would of denied lambert his dream move, but do you feel he has sacrificed the remainder of his career for the move, would he have got game time for us now? Or is he now past his best? So you think he regrets any part of it?
beatlesaint Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 He must regret it. He wouldn't have left for any other club, he may not have started very much under RK but he would have had a lot more game time and would have been in an environment where he knew he was valued. Rogers has treated him like crap and its a classic case of dream move turning into a nightmare. He might try to kid himself it's all ok but what happens in the summer ? Are Liverpool seriously going to keep him ? I doubt it very much.
GarrettIvo Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 He wanted to go. He went. I don't blame him. But I also don't see the point in going over this again and again and again. He's gone. Deal with it.
Sour Mash Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 He must regret it. Would he have been scoring in the Champions League for his boyhood team if he'd stayed with us? The bloke has had a great end to his career and should just be enjoying it for what it is.

shurlock Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 Anfield is his elephant graveyard. Sure he wouldn't change one thing.
Sour Mash Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 i said environment which means more than just the manager. The most important and relevant person in this instance though.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 He'd have regretted it the rest of his life had he turned them down . I doubt Ron would have played him more than Pelle . So I doubt he would have particularly enjoyed it here this season . He should always be welcomed back , just not as a player . It's gone , over , the club have moved on . I'm just glad we got a few quid for him , because if he'd stayed here we'd have ended up with a high wage , diminishing return player.
TopGun Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 SRL wanted to play for Liverpool. He is probably on more money at the tail end of his career. He can say he played in Champions League. What's to ask?
doddisalegend Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 Still wished we'd kept him good competition/cover for pelle......but he wanted to go
Brussels Saint Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 I doubt he regrets it. Boyhood club. Playing at Anfield (it's history & importance for a fan) CL appearances Closing in on the end of a career More cash Close to family If I was a footballer and had a chance to spend the last few years of my career at the Saints, that would be pretty special even if I was not playing as much as I would like.
SaintTex Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 He'd have regretted it the rest of his life had he turned them down.this is a good way of looking at it.
Dalek2003 Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 At the end of the day SRL gets good money and probably better being asub at Anfield than Vicarage Road.
sadoldgit Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 Only Rickie can answer this question but I suspect he would still have gone if he knew then whatr he knows know. Why sit on the bench at Southampton when he can sit on the bench of your boyhood club for more money?
old_southy Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 How could he turn down that offer? Footballers career's are short and so have every right to see how far it will take them. He loved it here but had to try.
Cheam Saint Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 Wouldn't surprise me to see him on loan at Palace in January. They need a decent striker and Pardew knows him and will play to his strengths.
Maggie May Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 Wouldn't surprise me to see him on loan at Palace in January. They need a decent striker and Pardew knows him and will play to his strengths. Yeah. Uproot his kids and family again to move back down south after six months.
Saints foreva Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 I doubt he regrets it. Boyhood club. Barely.
FarehamRed Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 I just hope he's does not start dropping down the leagues. January loan move to top half a Championship club? Summer sale to a club in the lower half Championship? I hope not, he deserves better.
Cheam Saint Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 Yeah. Uproot his kids and family again to move back down south after six months. Or getting a chance to guarantee first team football in the twilight of your career and stay in the England squad.
cobbysouth Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 Hes finished his career by playing a world cup for england and scoring in the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE for his boyhood club. Imagine you doing that for saints. I dont think he's losing sleep over it tbh.
Delboy Dave Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 Ummm HELLO! The bloke gets paid upwards of £50 grand every week to not go to work. If my boss paid me and I didn't have to work I wouldn't be complaining
SarniaSaint Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 Was way past the sell by date...........we got 4.75M he gets a bigger pay check..........time to move on
