John Boy Saint Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 National Tramway Museum in Crich Derbyshire has a one of those old Southampton Corporation Trams running, complete with the warning about not standing through the Bargate. I think on bank holiday weekends they run a lot more Trams up and down the track for visitors. Certainly a good day out if you have a curiosity of days gone by.

Crich is a good day out for tram buffs although it is short of cash so runs things accordingly on public holidays etc as you say JBS. I have a friend who was the general manager there until a couple of years ago. He tried to turn it around but it was too much hard work given its relatively inaccessible location for most things let alone trams. Edited 29 December, 2014 by TopGun
OldNick Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 (edited) I went to a farm on the outskirts of Romsey and they had 2 of the tram posts that they had rigged as yard lights. They saved them from being scrapped about 40years ago Edited 29 December, 2014 by OldNick

IIRC it was the discovery of an old Southampton tram that led to the museum being set up in the first place. We went there a couple of years ago and I'm sure it wasn't a bank holiday when we rode on the trams. It's got a nice little 'living museum' as well as the trams
miserableoldgit Posted 29 December, 2014 Author Posted 29 December, 2014 It is difficult trying to recognise much in the video....

Lets B Avenue Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 Heading north. The road ran downhill to the docks and at the end of the vid you could make out the buildings in London Road in the distance.
Deano6 Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 Is that 7pm tonight or was it last night (I noticed you posted it around 5pm yesterday, but surely that wouldn't give us enough time)? I'm gonna pop along tonight, just in case.
John Boy Saint Posted 29 December, 2014 Posted 29 December, 2014 It is difficult trying to recognise much in the video.... I think the Luftwaffe might have had a hand in that.

But it needs people to pay on the door to work and they find that difficult.
LVSaint Posted 30 December, 2014 Posted 30 December, 2014 i visited the museum a couple of days before our first game back in the Prem against Man City. Fun place.
Saint-scooby Posted 30 December, 2014 Posted 30 December, 2014 The copper at the minute mark would of been lost for words if he was still alive.....
