simo Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30610309 How many is that since we came back to the Prem ?
simo Posted 27 December, 2014 Author Posted 27 December, 2014 You know what i mean , is it 3 or 4 managers sacked after we beat then !?
nta786 Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 I dont think we sacked him lol. Anyways, QPR was one in our first season back I think- when we beat them 3-1? Was Fulham another? I'm not sure tbh
SaintBobby Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Going back a bit further....didn't we get Hoddle sacked after winning 3-1 at Spurs...and back further still, didn't Matty get Ron Atkinson sacked?
Appy Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Malky Mackay was sacked after we beat Cardiff on Boxing Day last year.
Aziz Yebda Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 I dont think we sacked him You are a moron
Trout-Tickler Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Malky McKay at Cardiff? Was on the brink before we beat them on Boxing Day last season. Maybe Mourinho after tomorrow?
Horley CTFC Saint Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 I dont think we sacked him No but we sacked the Palarse
Gemmel Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Going back a bit further....didn't we get Hoddle sacked after winning 3-1 at Spurs...and back further still, didn't Matty get Ron Atkinson sacked? He's bald he's fat he's gonna get the sack Atkinson Atkinson ....... and the next day he duly did.
SaintBobby Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Radio 5 reporting that Crystal Palace "twitched first" in the managerial sack race...surely QPR are next...:-)
Dalek2003 Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Bit of a bun fight developing in the lower third of the league. I note that we are 17 points clear so well out of it at present.
Dalek2003 Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Radio 5 reporting that Crystal Palace "twitched first" in the managerial sack race...surely QPR are next...:-) I think 'Arry might keep them up this year, then retire at the end of the season.
VectisSaint Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Radio 5 reporting that Crystal Palace "twitched first" in the managerial sack race...surely QPR are next...:-) West Brom, Irvine has already said he fears for his job, sounds like he's a gonner.
Batman Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 West Brom, Irvine has already said he fears for his job, sounds like he's a gonner. Pulis to WBA???
sentry Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Pulis to WBA??? WBA are the kings of total humiliation, whenever they beat a team the opposition chairman seem to think thats the last straw and sack the manager. Im not sure on the figures, but its got to be double figures for them. Regards to the next manager out the door, could be AI but he is more of a coach there, so might be Pearson.
Colinjb Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Does seem to be an odd stigma where losing to Saints is the last straw. Warnock was an odd appointment anyway, will be interesting to see who they get in instead. The one man they would want in there surely wouldn't go back, would he?
saintmatt Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Isnt this 'stigma' just another case of people thinking it's unique to saints because their focus is saints? We're hardly likely to remember the managers sacked after losing to, say, villa, are we?
Colinjb Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Isnt this 'stigma' just another case of people thinking it's unique to saints because their focus is saints? We're hardly likely to remember the managers sacked after losing to, say, villa, are we? A fair point. Would be interesting to see statistics on which clubs are more likely to provoke a sacking. Where's MLG when you need him....?
Window Cleaner Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 (edited) http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30610309 How many is that since we came back to the Prem ? T'was a silly appointment in the first place, can't see what they possibly hoped to achieve with Warnock. Might fancy getting Sherwood before Brighton I suppose hence haste. CB Fry Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Isnt this 'stigma' just another case of people thinking it's unique to saints because their focus is saints? We're hardly likely to remember the managers sacked after losing to, say, villa, are we? 100% this. Just pointless confirmation bias.
andoru Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Nigel Adkins is available. I'd love to see him back in the Prem, although maybe he's not the right fit for Palace.
shurlock Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 (edited) A fair point. Would be interesting to see statistics on which clubs are more likely to provoke a sacking. Where's MLG when you need him....? It's not just the opposition you lose to that can be the last nail in the coffin. Managers arguably get sacked ahead of big games in hope that it will jolt a reaction (or even engineer a honeymoon effect). Palace have QPR next in a potential relegation showdown which may in small part explain the timing. Norwich did something similar last season when they got rid of Hughton before the Fulham game (admittedly they had just lost to WBA which was a low in itself). Edited 27 December, 2014 by shurlock
SaintBobby Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 (edited) Wild guess here, but I'm guessing the so-called smaller clubs are more likely to provoke a sacking. I mean, being sacked for failing to win at Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge must be a bit unusual....unless your name is Nigel Adkins.... Edited 27 December, 2014 by SaintBobby
whelk Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 It was WBA http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2598688/AVB-Di-Matteo-Di-Canio-Hughton-no-boss-safe-West-Brom-curse.html
bpsaint Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 It was WBA http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2598688/AVB-Di-Matteo-Di-Canio-Hughton-no-boss-safe-West-Brom-curse.html 5 sackings? We must have seen off more than that surely?
CB Fry Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 5 sackings? We must have seen off more than that surely? Pretty sure that isn't every single manager that has ever been sacked after playing WBA.
Dr Who? Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 It seems if you lose to Saints it does not get any lower than that.... Sack your manager!
whelk Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Pretty sure that isn't every single manager that has ever been sacked after playing WBA. Our nil nil was a lucky escape. Would have been sad to have seen RK go after 2 games but rules is rules
Dr Who? Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Pretty sure that isn't every single manager that has ever been sacked after playing WBA. But Poch survived!
whelk Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 But Poch survived! Thankfully they don't have a trigger happy chairman!
Lets B Avenue Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Warnock was an odd appointment anyway, will be interesting to see who they get in instead. The one man they would want in there surely wouldn't go back, would he? I'm afraid Malcolm Allison died a few years back.
Dr Who? Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Thankfully they don't have a trigger happy chairman! Ha ha Levy..... Hmm!
Redslo Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 A fair point. Would be interesting to see statistics on which clubs are more likely to provoke a sacking. Where's MLG when you need him....? Is there a web site that lists when managers were fired?
Bad Wolf Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Didn't Di Matteo (or whoever was Chelsea manager at the time) get sacked after we came back from 2-0 down to get a 2-2 at Stamford Bridge? West Brom, Irvine has already said he fears for his job, sounds like he's a gonner. Sounds safe. It's when they start saying that they have nothing to worry about and have the chairman's backing etc that you know they'll be gone soon.
Lighthouse Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Didn't Di Matteo (or whoever was Chelsea manager at the time) get sacked after we came back from 2-0 down to get a 2-2 at Stamford Bridge? Adkins was sacked after that game. I can't remember what happened to RDM but I don't recall both managers being sacked after the same game. Pulis technically got the chop after playing us on the last day in 2013 I think. It was more of a long term thing from the whole season really, that was a 1-1 draw.
Goatboy Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 A fair point. Would be interesting to see statistics on which clubs are more likely to provoke a sacking. Where's MLG when you need him....? Church?

Warnock was an odd appointment anyway, will be interesting to see who they get in instead. The one man they would want in there surely wouldn't go back, would he? I don't think it was the stigma of losing to Saints. It was probably the stigma of Palace being so bad defensively that they made Mane look like he might just have the potential to be a Premier League player.
SW5 SAINT Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 I remember us winning 3-1 at Blackburn about 15 or 16 years ago, and whoever was the manager then was out on his ear the next day........
St.Jeweller Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 I seem to remember Gullit getting the chop from Newcastle back when we beat them at the dell a few yeaqrs ago.
CB Fry Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 I seem to remember Gullit getting the chop from Newcastle back when we beat them at the dell a few yeaqrs ago. Pretty sure he was sacked after losing a tyne/wear derby for which he dropped Alan Shearer to much Geordie outrage.
SarniaSaint Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 I think 'Arry might keep them up this year, then retire at the end of the season. No way..........there's always another brown envelope waiting
Goatboy Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 I don't think it was the stigma of losing to Saints. It was probably the stigma of Palace being so bad defensively that they made Mane look like he might just have the potential to be a Premier League player.
Stud mark of doom Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 I remember us winning 3-1 at Blackburn about 15 or 16 years ago, and whoever was the manager then was out on his ear the next day........ But they got their own back with luggy, rubbing our noses in it by, um, losing to us 3 2 just before he was axed.
Turkish Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Does seem to be an odd stigma where losing to Saints is the last straw. Warnock was an odd appointment anyway, will be interesting to see who they get in instead. The one man they would want in there surely wouldn't go back, would he? Two things. You're confusion Palace with their neighbours, Charlton and Les Reed is very happy In his job at saints.
Lets B Avenue Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 I remember us winning 3-1 at Blackburn about 15 or 16 years ago, and whoever was the manager then was out on his ear the next day........ Nov 98. 2-0. Steve Basham scored and about an hour after the game they sacked........................................ Roy Hodgson.
VectisSaint Posted 30 December, 2014 Posted 30 December, 2014 West Brom, Irvine has already said he fears for his job, sounds like he's a gonner. As I was saying. Was a foregone conclusion anyway.
Window Cleaner Posted 30 December, 2014 Posted 30 December, 2014 As I was saying. Was a foregone conclusion anyway. From the day they appointed him really, was never good enough for the job. Garry Monk next perhaps ??
