Saint Charlie Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Let's hope shane long plays and scores. When this happens we win Ditto Mane and Toby. Have a 100% record when they score too. Powerful squad stats wise which is a real fillip going into these next three games.
K,Billy's supersound Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 You know Clyne is out? i don't know anything regards him but if hes ok then i would have him at rwb and drop gardos back to bench.
Whitey Grandad Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Let's hope shane long plays and scores. When this happens we win As long as we score first we'll be ok.
John Boy Saint Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Just shut down Matic and their tick loses its tock.
SuperMikey Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 -------------FORSTER------------- -----FONTE---TOBY---YOSHI------ CLYNE--------------------TARGETT ------JWP---MORGAN----VIC------- --------------DAVIS--------------- --------------PELLE--------------- Subs: K.Davis, Gardos, McCarthy, Reed, Tadic, Mane, Long Got good options on the bench there who can have an impact on the game (Tadic, Mane and Long especially), without sacrificing a lot of creativity in the team. I can definitely see Davis playing, not sure why people are dropping him for this when he plays such a vital role in our midfield. Vic back in the team to track Matic and provide a bit of protection for Targett.
Goatboy Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 Just shut down Matic and their tick loses its tock. Best player this season for me. Big Vic will get him.
Coxford_lou Posted 27 December, 2014 Posted 27 December, 2014 -------------FORSTER------------- -----FONTE---TOBY---YOSHI------ CLYNE--------------------TARGETT ------JWP---MORGAN----VIC------- --------------DAVIS--------------- --------------PELLE--------------- Subs: K.Davis, Gardos, McCarthy, Reed, Tadic, Mane, Long Switch Ward Prowse for Mane, and that's a pretty strong team. It will either be our apprehension that beats us, or just a bloody strong Chelsea team. I do like the thought of 5-3-2 against them. C'mon Saints!

Coxford_lou Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 Are you going tomorrow CL? I don't think so. Was tempted to source a last minute ticket... but "life" stuff needs my focus at the mo. Boring, I know.
Charlie Wayman Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 This looks like a win for Saints, about 3-1 probably.
Coxford_lou Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 This looks like a win for Saints, about 3-1 probably. I like the attitude Charlie... Your confidence is making me more confident. Hopefully by supernatural forces, this will also rub off on the players...

whelk Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 Are you going tomorrow CL? Someone on the pull?
whelk Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 Game of the season. We will show the world we can compete and they will get rattled for first time this season and we will thoroughly deserve our win. Thought the same before the city game though. Although I think they win every game 2-0
Jonnyboy Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 Are you going tomorrow CL? Watch out Lou, he's married if memory serves...
It's There Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 Can't wait. First game of season and leaving inn10 minutes. A Christmas treat- gonna give Chelski a very good game. Prediction 1:1 Terry to slip and Long to score.
Plastic Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 I'm changing my prediction to a home win. 2-1. Mané & Vic to score. Probably Costa at the other end.
DuncanRG Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 Buzzed for this. I haven't felt this up against it since our first season back but if we can control spells of the game and take a chance when it comes we have every chance
Coxford_lou Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 I'm changing my prediction to a home win. 2-1. Is that as a result of reading the Toby Alderweireld article?
Plastic Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 Is that as a result of reading the Toby Alderweireld article? Partly, also just feeling quite optimistic today, nice and sunny innit?
alehouseboys Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 Looking forward to the game but not as optimistic as some. I hope we've learned lessons from the city match here a few weeks back because we will again find ourselves under severe pressure when we have the ball, we'll need to buzz it around well, hope we're bang up for it. Fans too.
hasper57saint Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 Hold the ball, don't be overawed by their 'stars' (it's all made up) and shut down Matic. Saints will win this. COYS
Saint_Ash Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 I had a dream matic was sent off really early and we were all over them. Can't remember the score though.
VectisSaint Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 Just about to leave from frosty Wiltshire, hoping for a win today but realistically would take a draw.
Andy Durman Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 The key to this game is hard work. Closing down and giving no space whatsoever. Luck will also required. The key to this game is a back 3 of Fonte, Alderweireld, Maya, protected by Wanyama and Schneiderlin. The rest of the team need to close them down.

Agree with this and then massively key to take any chances that come our way. Also key that Clyne starts.

The key to this game is a back 3 of Fonte, Alderweireld, Maya, protected by Wanyama and Schneiderlin. The rest of the team need to close them down. I'd agree if Clyne is fit. However, IF Clyne isn't fit as the rumours say, we may need to play Toby at right back (where he plays for Belgium?) and maybe revert to the 4-3-3 formation.
Roger Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 He won't. How is that helpful. Is there any substance to you saying that?
farawaysaint Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 How is that helpful. Is there any substance to you saying that? Took him to the hospital maybe?
Window Cleaner Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 How is that helpful. Is there any substance to you saying that? I expect so yes, we all know what Essruu does.
S-Clarke Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 Also key that Clyne starts. You know he wont, so well done for playing on that one. Such an annoying poster.
Roger Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 You know he wont, so well done for playing on that one. Such an annoying poster. you know that clynes out mate do you?
Ampersound Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 Just cant see us getting anything today. Still.. hope we play really well and give them proper go.
Saint Charlie Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 You know he wont, so well done for playing on that one. Such an annoying poster. I don't know whether he will or won't! Genuinely.
Saint Charlie Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 If he is out though I hope we go back to 4-3-3 with Toby at RB and also can bring Tadic in.
Ewell Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 I actually have got a good feeling about today but particularly JWP coming of age and getting on the score sheet and making a telling contribution with his set pieces.
smarmy Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 If Clyne is out, Aldewiereld at RB and 4 3 3 or 4 5 1. What would be our best park the bus lineup (tho that is not really Koeman's style)?
Saint Charlie Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 If Clyne is out, Aldewiereld at RB and 4 3 3 or 4 5 1. What would be our best park the bus lineup (tho that is not really Koeman's style)? No need to park the bus. Could do this: Forster Toby Fonte Yoshida Targett Morgan Wanayama Davis Tadic Pelle Mane
Roger Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 No need to park the bus. Could do this: Forster Toby Fonte Yoshida Targett Morgan Wanayama Davis Tadic Pelle Mane I agree with you. Hope Clyne is okay.
smarmy Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 I'm normally an attack is best form of defence guy, but think maybe playing Reed alongside Wanyama and Schneiderlin might make sense. Then struggling with getting any width if you then play Davis, Pelle and one of Tadic/Long/Mane.
Bwanamakubwa Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 Put McCarthy in. Could do. Welcome to the premier league, now stop Edin Hazard
Saint Charlie Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 Could do. Welcome to the premier league, now stop Edin Hazard Not fair for a debut IMO.
Ewell Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 Put McCarthy in. Agreed, if your good enough. he certainly seems to have the right character and temperament.
Roger Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 Not fair for a debut IMO. Agree. Not two rookies at full backs.
krissyboy31 Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 JWP potentially an option at RWB? Good call IMO
Saint Charlie Posted 28 December, 2014 Posted 28 December, 2014 Good call IMO Only reservation is that he is very easy to run past so would he actually contain Hazard at all? Attacking wise it fits.
