Those who questioned the starting line-up are just gong to have to trust and get used to rotation to keep players fresh at this time of the season. It's a product of an improving and expanding squad...it's the future.
Indeed.

I thought Koeman's player management was masterful considering the short rest for Chelsea.

5 fresh players for the potential starting 11 against Chelsea:

Tadic, Wanyama, Long, Fonte, Targett (Bertrand can't play)

Obvious troll is obvious. Can't believe you guys bit on that one.

He's like it after every game, win or lose. Smells like saint Richmond who disappeared after being outed as a **** and had the tendency to chat to himself or his other accounts.

These suspensions have actually worked in our favour, Pelle, Morgan, Victor and Fonte all getting rests at times when they probably wouldn't have otherwise.

Mane man of the match - that's going to upset a few Mane-baiters.

He is beginning to show what he is capable of, and that his best position is as a central striker. We need another winger -not a replacement for Mane.

Majestic from Maya today. Really excited if he travels this form to the Asia Cup. Japan certain to triumph, with Maya shining on big stage!

Eljero Elia

So are two strikers at top our best formation? Maybe so..should we always play a combination of Pelle and Long/Mane.. and then either is a super sub to bring max. energy in the last 20 minutes?

Do you know what majestic means? ;)

Great result. Mane impressive.

4th in league with the chasing pack of Spurs, West Ham, Arsenal, Swansea and Liverpool all to play at home. Europe this year is in our hands. And obviously they all have to play each other. Think 3rd to 7th will be a hell of a battle this year.

This boy McCarthy looks quite a prospect. Watch out Clyne.

Mostly plays centre back for the U21s I think. Looked good pre season!

We are spoiled with Clyne though - absolute top class right back who is great defensively and also has that rare burst of speed to use in the final third. Top player.

The formation was actually 3-5-1-1. Mane played so well because Koeman gave him a more familiar role to play and he embraced it. Squares don't fit in round holes. Manes left foot is not Premier league quality.

Giroud sent off for Arsenal, misses the game against us.

Was just logging in to ask this. Will he deffo miss our game?

If so that is great as I thought that without him, we should have got out of the N London with a 0-0 draw.

Great quote from Graham Taylor:

"Giroud just ran off there, didn't look at Arsene Wenger at all there as he went down the tunnel. He knew exactly what he had done there straightaway. You just have to ask, what has he done there?"

Straight red card for serious foul play or violent conduct means a three match ban, so yes he will.

Can't believe I'm willing QPR on to get another goal...

Wham vs. Arse on Sunday. I'm hoping both teams finish with 8 men after a series of sendings off due to violent murders.

Just got to continue this good form through January, add a bit more depth to the squad and then it's easy street til the end on the season. Think we'll finish 3rd.

There is a run of easier fixtures coming.

Gonna be an interesting second half.

if we can be no lower than 7th after the next four matches then I see no reason as long as we avoid an injury crisis as to why we can't finish in the top six. There isn't a lot to worry about with the exception of Chelsea and City away.

Cracking win that. Bit of a Groundhog Day for me this is. I have that same uncomfortable 'could it be I am totally wrong' feeling about Mane I had when Pelle played his first blinder for us. First world problems. "I thought Mane was crap but he's actually brilliant and the whole Saints coaching staff knew what I didn't. Wah!!!!!!!"

A bold statement, sir.

Have to say i thought Davis had an uncharacteristically bad game, gave the ball away sloppily on two occasions and then in the second half ran through on goal but inexplicably turned back to lay it off instead of taking it on himself.

Excellent performance and result. Palace were woeful and Warnock will be gone soon.

Those slagging off Mane probably loved Puncheon when he was with us.. Mane terrified their back 4 at times.

Good organisation, everyone did t heir jobs, Davis was a little below his best but better than anyone Palace had on the pitch.

Thought Gardos had a good game, seems to be learning well and fitted into the system well. 2nd half it was a stroll in the park and the only worry was Clyne who Palace decided to try & kick off the pitch. Good to blood another Youngster today.

Mane MoM and looking like he could be the next Messi/Ronaldo at times, the move & cross for Bertrand's goal was sensational.

Didn't mention anyone else as they all did what we now expect of them - JWP's through ball to Mane for his 1st was outstanding.

The Hat waving will have embarrassed the Fashion Police but great touch by the club. (Did the rain drown the Palarse Ultra's Band or something?)

Oh and Wanyama will have had a roasting for leaving Scott Dann so unmarked even our Arabic 'tater noticed it, when he wasn't spouting on "habla habla, Southampton, habla Champions League....."

Great game then 3 consecutive Dr Who Xmas Specials on the Telly here rounded off by an early Sherlock. Great evening to be at home recovering.

Well done to all who went and made SUCH a noise all game! #jealous

Does it matter that much? Sure you both know where Clyne and Bertrand play and whether add them to 3 in defence or the midfield doesn't really differ.
