Wurzel Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 Good quiz. 8/10. Kicking myself for one of the 2 I got wrong. Anyone know why I had to view it in IE? Firefox just showed first picture with no options. Adblocker or suchlike possibly?
spyinthesky Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 10/10. Good quiz that. My 12yo got 4/10 10/10 for me too Mind you I am of a certain age and went to most of the grounds before redevelopment Also having a few 'Then and Now' stadium books helped (and no I didn't cheat!!) Fitzhugh Fella Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 Yea I got 9 out of 10 with me thinking Ibrox was Villa Park
badgerx16 Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 Yea I got 9 out of 10 with me thinking Ibrox was Villa Park Ditto, but so did my Villa supporting son. 'Luton Stadium' on an advertsing board also helped with the Kenilworth Road picture.
Bath Saint Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 Excellent quiz. I'm really pleased with myself. I got 3/10 - pretty good going, I'm sure you'll agree.
Whitey Grandad Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 Yea I got 9 out of 10 with me thinking Ibrox was Villa Park I did too, but I only got 7 right. More than I would have thought. Seeing the Man Utd players arguing with the ref meant that it couldn't be Old Trafford
fanimal Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 I got 8/10, again thought Ibrox was Villa Park and got the sloping terraced houses mixed up with the Valley for Dellhurst Park - close though!
sandwichsaint Posted 22 December, 2014 Author Share Posted 22 December, 2014 (edited) I might have missed a trick here, I only looked at the old pics...... did people really get the 'old' ****x*****y****z**** ground? The one with the tunnel behind the goal? I have no recollection of that at all..... (I'm 53 on Thursday). Xmas quiz question (I'm not sure of the question or the answers but bear with it) .... Which are the four (?) English or Scottish grounds where the tunnel is situated behind the goal line (rather than on the touchline or in a corner). Wurzel Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 Yea I got 9 out of 10 with me thinking Ibrox was Villa Park Made same mistake based on the badge.
lloydie Posted 23 December, 2014 Share Posted 23 December, 2014 Made same mistake based on the badge. I thought at first it was ibrox given the exterior of the stand (red brick looking building) then saw the badge and remembered villa park has a similar exterior... 70's Mike Posted 23 December, 2014 Share Posted 23 December, 2014 9/10 got Ibrox wrong, funny thing is i think i have seen Saints play on them all, a lot of them as they were in the pictures
sussexsaint Posted 23 December, 2014 Share Posted 23 December, 2014 I got 8/10, again thought Ibrox was Villa Park and got the sloping terraced houses mixed up with the Valley for Dellhurst Park - close though! exactly the same here for the same reasons
sussexsaint Posted 23 December, 2014 Share Posted 23 December, 2014 I presume that Loftus Road pic was when they were putting in the plastic pitch ah Glen Cockerill, what a goal

sandwichsaint Posted 23 December, 2014 Author Share Posted 23 December, 2014 Xmas quiz question (I'm not sure of the question or the answers but bear with it) .... Which are the four (?) English or Scottish grounds where the tunnel is situated behind the goal line (rather than on the touchline or in a corner). No takers for the quiz? This was a pub quiz chestnut back in the day but I think it might have been superseded by new grounds opening/re-development/new teams to the leagues etc .... more of a Xmas riddle than a Xmas quiz. Anybody? Any ground(s) where the teams come out behind the goal?
stevegrant Posted 23 December, 2014 Share Posted 23 December, 2014 The Loftus Road photo doesn't look any different to how it is now
Dimond Geezer Posted 23 December, 2014 Share Posted 23 December, 2014 A miserable 6 for me, like many others I fell into the Ibrox/Villa trap & messed up the Valley/Selhurst. Kenilworth Rd was easy, it has the club name on a hording.
stevegrant Posted 23 December, 2014 Share Posted 23 December, 2014 Anybody? Any ground(s) where the teams come out behind the goal? Bristol City, Burnley, Birmingham... the mention of Scottish grounds suggests there must be at least one north of the border as well.

sandwichsaint Posted 27 December, 2014 Author Share Posted 27 December, 2014 Let's try and put the dubious quiz question to bed; (bare with me) I think I first heard it as: Bristol City, Burnley, Blackpool, and 'Aberdeen' (not sure if that is Pittordrie pre or post all-seater status?) or possibly Tannadice (?) (told you I didn't know the answer), BUT some peeps have thrown in Birmingham, having never been to Blackpool pre or post re-development nor to St Andrews not sure where that leaves it. But there is a more recent ground where a lot of Saints fans will have seen us play four years ago this very week-end and where the teams do indeed emerge from behind the goal.... Dagenham and Redbridge, which was never in the pub quiz standard that I did. Definites: Burnley Bristol City and Daggers Maybes: Blackpool (old or new?), Birmingham(?), Aberdeen or Dundee (?) .... Anybody else got a dodgy question they would like to ask?
