manina-pub Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 This comes from a pretty good site for stats, however although I like the thought of us finshing 5th I can't help but feel this is a little over optimistic given the prediction for Chelsea and Liverpool (2-0 & 4-0 respectively)... All a bit of fun I suppose .. http://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/premierleague/league?sort=predicted
PhilippineSaint Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 According to that table we are only going to let in another 6 goals this season if that is the case we mayhave a few more points than they reckon.
SaintBobby Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 It's total garbage. We have a 72% chance of beating Chelsea? Mental.
ant Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 Hahaha, deary me. You'd take 4-0 and 3-0 home wins against Liverpool and Spurs respectively!
OttawaSaint Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 Think Merson wrote this, most if not all games are clean sheet home wins, no 2-2s very few 2-1, no 3-2s etc. Rather bizarre set of predictions there. There are better sites, can't for the life of me remember the name of that one that simulates the game outcomes several million times and then uses the most frequent outcome. Anyone? Mattio Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 The ridiculousness (is that a word?!) of those results goes to show how tough an ask it's going to be to keep hold of 5th by the end of the season.

Really don't think we need a prediction tool to give an insight into how difficult a top 6 finish is.
Saint Garrett Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 Chelsea to only win 1 out of the next four games? What moron wrote this?
Bearsy Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 Does seem a touch weighted towards home advantage. I can't say for certain, but I suspect someone other than Man City & Chelsea will record an away win between now and the end of the season. Redslo Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 So in our remaining 21 games we will score 31 goals and give up only 6. Yet we will go 10-6-5. Clearly, the five losses must all be 1-0 losses. Very likely, the six draws will be 5 0-0 draws and a single 1-1 draw. That means that in our ten wins we will score 30 goals and give up none. Does not seem particularly plausible to me.
OttawaSaint Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 Found it! Sports club stats has us 23% chance to finish 4th, 20% 5th, 14% 6th. That was before the Everton game though. http://www.sportsclubstats.com/England/Premier.html
gr00031 Posted 22 December, 2014 Share Posted 22 December, 2014 Such a waste of time taking any of this too seriously. Although, if we were offered that league table now, I for one would def take it!
