Whitey Grandad Posted 12 January, 2015 Posted 12 January, 2015 Is he available for Wednesday? Would be ideal to give him more game time. No. He would have had to have been eligible for the original tie.
Turkish Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Looks a hell of a find based on his first two appearances. Two well taken goals, good pace, excellent work rate and got some ability on the ball too.
B Rabbit Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Looks a hell of a find based on his first two appearances. Two well taken goals, good pace, excellent work rate and got some ability on the ball too. was very impressed with his work rate, touches, movement and strength. Hopefully it's not a fluke and we've unearthed a gem.

Two well taken goals, good pace, excellent work rate and got some ability on the ball too. Absolute class performance. Great find. Attitude right up there too. Going after opposition but with a box tricks to go past too
Saint-Armstrong Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Tasty frontline options when they're all fit... Eljero Elia Sadio Mané Dušan Tadić Graziano Pellè Jay Rodriguez Shane Long
Plastic Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Think he scored like 1 goal for them in 70 games? Lol
Avenue Saint Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Tasty frontline options when they're all fit... Eljero Elia Sadio Mané Dušan Tadić Graziano Pellè Jay Rodriguez Shane Long We are 2 players short still. A striker and a keeper
shurlock Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Strong performance -with Mané back soon, will also give Tadic some much needed competition.
Wiggles31 Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Thought he was sensational. As well as his attacking ability he did all the basics well which so many attacking players faulter at. Love how passionate he is too.
Danish Saint Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 werderweb's defectors thread quite active right now, i should imagine They were happy after the first goal, bit annoyed he scored both. Happy to have him back now. http://forum.werder.de/showthread.php?19757-Eljero-Elia-(verliehen-an-Southampton-FC)/page226
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 I've just seen his post match interview and I must say it was refreshing. Obviously delighted to be here and back in the goals, clearly grateful that RK has given him a chance (after what seems to have been a difficult time in Germany) and apparently interacting with his new team mates well. In short everything I want to see from one of our players and not a sign on show of the reputation for being rather 'difficult' that preceded his arrival. We've all seen many new players start well but then rapidly go off the boil, but I'm thinking that Eljero may well prove to be a real asset to this squad for the rest of the season - and maybe beyond.
Lighthouse Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 He is this season's Jonathan Forte. Just watch, he will do f**k all the rest of the year.
Dellman Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 He is this season's Jonathan Forte. Just watch, he will do f**k all the rest of the year. Another happy fan!
Saint_clark Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 He is this season's Jonathan Forte. Just watch, he will do f**k all the rest of the year. He'll still have made more of an impact than Balotelli.
shurlock Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 (edited) Loved the interview - was what was I hoping for from Osvaldo, someone who desperately wants to repay the faith shown in him by the manager and just grateful for another opportunity. Long may it continue, even when hes not having it all his own way. Edited 17 January, 2015 by shurlock
a1ex2001 Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 That covers the loan fee then, fingers crossed he keeps it up!
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 He is this season's Jonathan Forte. Just watch, he will do f**k all the rest of the year. Why would you feel the need to say that?
Saint_Ash Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 I feel we'll get him personally. Love the way he hugged koeman and he loves being here. Comparisons to balbalotelli are way off. Has koeman got a signing wrong?
Lighthouse Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Why would you feel the need to say that? Another happy fan! It was tongue in cheek guys, Jesus.

Has koeman got a signing wrong? If you're referring to me, I wasn't comparing them - just saying that he's been here 5 minutes and already been a more effective signing.
bilbot79 Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 yeah, so f*cking strong too Concur with this. He can score with the defender literally hanging off him
Ultimatt Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 He's obviously got talent, you don't get 20-odd Dutch NT caps and signed by Juve/Bremen without being pretty special. Seems to have great physical attributes with his strength and speed. Fantastic skills on the ball typical of a dutch player. Sounds like it was all a mental thing that stopped him from succeeding at other clubs. He comes across quite shy/softly-spoken/humble in his interviews so perhaps he needs confidence to shine, and he seems to be getting that from Koeman and co.
DrZuess1979 the 2nd Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 (edited) Looks a gem Has a cristiano Ronaldo look about him Edited 17 January, 2015 by DrZuess1979 the 2nd
Dr Who? Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Get him signed up. Did not realise until mentioned how good he was for the Netherlands, in the build up to the South Africa World Cup! Got to take a punt on him.
Saint_clark Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Looks a gem Has a cristiano Ronaldo look about him Weird, I thought EXACTLY the same thing.
Goatboy Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Well, that's ruined it for me ART. Those jeans are ridiculous.
SaintTex Posted 17 January, 2015 Posted 17 January, 2015 Looks a gem Has a cristiano Ronaldo look about him His celebration on the 2nd goal was Ronaldoesque for sure. I loved the hug with RK after the first goal. Seemed genuine and heartfelt. I am sucker for that kind of sentimentality. He seems so grateful for the opportunity. It sounds like he wants to seize it. That post match interview nearly put tears in my eyes.

Bucks Saint Posted 18 January, 2015 Posted 18 January, 2015 Serious competiton for places when we sign him. Excellent today, including defensively just before he was subbed, top man.
pangy Posted 18 January, 2015 Posted 18 January, 2015 I think it's a big testament to the Koemans and all the back room staff for not only there coaching abilitys but the man management as well, from what it seems he has taken quite a gamble on him,but he has already got him firing on all cylinders.he will only improve as he gets used to the players and tempo of the prem, and at £4.5 mill in the summer he could be some signing
Saint_Ash Posted 18 January, 2015 Posted 18 January, 2015 If you're referring to me, I wasn't comparing them - just saying that he's been here 5 minutes and already been a more effective signing. No mate, not referring to you. Just in general. I really this bloke. Seems really nice in his interviews.
DrZuess1979 the 2nd Posted 18 January, 2015 Posted 18 January, 2015 Weird, I thought EXACTLY the same thing. He's got a playing style very similar, athletic build etc Albeit not as polished as the world number 1
david in sweden Posted 18 January, 2015 Posted 18 January, 2015 He'll still have made more of an impact than Balotelli. Bom! Bom!
thesaint sfc Posted 18 January, 2015 Posted 18 January, 2015 Does anyone follow him on facebook? After both his games so far he has posted a video which shows pretty much every touch of the ball he made. Literally I'm not sure where he gets the footage from and I'm fairly sure if it was reported he would probably be asked to take it down He certainly seems to have something to prove! Long may it continue. Great signing.
Whitey Grandad Posted 18 January, 2015 Posted 18 January, 2015 Very impressive. Strikes the ball well, holds off opponents and doesn't hesitate when he spots a chance. Just what we needed.
Saint Sanso Posted 18 January, 2015 Posted 18 January, 2015 Loved it when he said "Not so good for the first 10 minutes, then we started to play football" So was everyone having tea for the first 10 minutes?? Genuine guy, I like him, I get the impression he was rock bottom in confidence prior to his arrival and has had a tough time of it, glad Koemans confidence in him has turned things around.

Piggy Posted 18 January, 2015 Posted 18 January, 2015 Nice one, Eljero! Make us rich! In case you wonder, he scored a brace for us once, last season vs Nürnberg: http://livetv.sx/de/showvideo/154648_werder_nuernberg/
