Saint dyer Posted 25 December, 2014 Posted 25 December, 2014 Driving up to this game. Does anyone know if pubs will be open. Not sure what time to leave from Southampton to get there... Thanks in advance. Coyr
Bucks Saint Posted 25 December, 2014 Posted 25 December, 2014 Pubs will be open for sure. Bumper business

Jesus they're so harmless and modern football they've even started playing fancy dress ultras.

All fan bases have them. Not worth getting wound up about.

Most supporters I talk to think that we are pretty harmless, like our set up and wish us well. We are pretty harmless really.....

Ewell Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 Just over 100 tickets left is what the club put on their Facebook page a couple of days ago. I heard the club announce there were a few tickets left yesterday morning. Does anyone know if you can buy them On the day at Palace?

Jack Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 Looking forward to this. It definitely feels like if we score first we'll do well, if we go behind it could be tough. Palace don't score many but aren't terrible for shipping lots of goals either. Play well and we'll be too much for them. Forster Clyne Toby Yoshi Bertrand Schneiderlin Wanyama Davis Tadic Pelle Long 0-2
Lighthouse Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 Odd how being middle class is somehow seen as an insult. It's not as if middle class means posh toff, the clue is in the name really. For any Palace fans reading, hello I am middle class. I have never been hunting with hounds on Boxing Day morning, nor was I in the four Yorkshiremen sketch.
dubai_phil Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 Thanks God it's Palarse today. For some anyone with a job and some sort of basic education is "middle class". Guess that's what the Palace fan means, him obviously not having benefitted from said basic education because if he had he'd know the difference between their, there and they're...
Bad Wolf Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 He's obviously just had some bad experiences with Saints fans, shame really howeverut all clubs have ****s as fans. But middle class!? WTF? I actually don't mind Palace. I felt sorry for them when P*mpey stuck out a weak team against West Brom and our fishy friends cheered WBA on, wearing their shirts etc because that result had **** all bearing on us, it actually ended up screwing Palace as they got a point that day. I think I'm also one of the very few people in the country that actually quite likes Neil Warnock.

adrian lord Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 If we and Chelsea win we go back up to 4th?
Lighthouse Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 If we and Chelsea win we go back up to 4th? 3rd if Newcastle can pull off the unlikely at OT.
Saint Charlie Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 I would go back to the 4-3-3. Palace are strong out wide so the wing backs would need to watch Bolasie and Puncheon rather than get forward as much as they could against a narrow Everton team. Also they only play one striker so doesn't need 3 centre backs marking one player. Sure Ronald will agree. Its about what works for specific games and the wing backs worked well for Everton, but they are different to Palace and we have more players available now.

Saint Billy Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 I'm not too keen on the yellow snow, the white stuff seems so much more appropriate especially at this time of the year The country will no doubt grind to a halt and mass panic will ensue with 4 inches of snow.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 #SaintsFC team vs @CPFC: Forster, Yoshida, Alderweireld, Gardos, Clyne, Schneiderlin, Ward-Prowse, S. Davis ©, Bertrand, Mané, Pellè. What formation is that then!?!
Lighthouse Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 Why Long, Wanyama and Tadic on the bench? I can only assume the latter isn't fit. Mane... you know the rest.
Saints foreva Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 Mane over Long is a poor decision from Koeman imo. He had a good game against Everton.
Shroppie Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 Why Long, Wanyama and Tadic on the bench? I can only assume the latter isn't fit. Mane... you know the rest. As I suggested a few pages back, saving fresh legs for Chelsea
Saint_Tony Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 Poor line up, would like to have seen us go all out for victory, as any team we put out will struggle against Chelsea. Would be surprised if we get a goal today.
James Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 What formation is that then!?! Clearly 3-5-2 again.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 Clearly 3-5-2 again. Mane up front
Shroppie Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 What formation is that then!?! Same as last week, I would guess, 3 4 1 2 with Pelle and Mane up front
studentsaint Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 I understand wanyama has to play against matic but I would suggest someone take care of jedinak too. 352 with gardos and yoshida worries me, especially with no protection.
Saint Matty 76 Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 Mane can't be any worse up top than he has been on the wing, hopefully he does well.
benjii Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 Sensible to keep a few out today. Can't expect Long to run himself into the ground twice in three days. Hopefully he can come on for Pelle for the last 40 mins once we're two or three up.
Lighthouse Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 As I suggested a few pages back, saving fresh legs for Chelsea This is the best chance to get 3 points so you would play your best team. If we are indeed resting players today, don't win as a result and then lose to Chelsea (as our strongest team probably will anyway) we will look stupid. It should be our strongest team today and then assess things again before Chelsea.
the saint in winchester Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 What formation is that then!?! I'm confused too. Only one up front? Pelle?
SaintSteve Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 This is the best chance to get 3 points so you would play your best team. If we are indeed resting players today, don't win as a result and then lose to Chelsea (as our strongest team probably will anyway) we will look stupid. You don't know our strongest team though and Koeman obviously has a plan for the next 3 games... looks good to me and expect a win.
Saint Matty 76 Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 Forster Yoshida - Gardos - Alderweireld Clyne - JWP - Schneiderlin - Davis - Bertrand Mane - Pelle 3-5-2 again.
Shroppie Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 It's not much weaker than last week. Think RK liked the new formation.
Lighthouse Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 You don't know our strongest team though and Koeman obviously has a plan for the next 3 games... looks good to me and expect a win. It doesn't involve Mane, I know that.
kermitsaint Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 Would rather our best team plus seager on the bench . We have no hope at Chelsea so why cater to it . Playing Mane and Gardos is lunacy .
Shroppie Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 Would rather our best team plus seager on the bench . We have no hope at Chelsea so why cater to it . Playing Mane and Gardos is lunacy . We're not at Chelsea. We're at home and got a result last season, so not true that we have no hope.
nta786 Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 Forster Yoshida - Gardos - Alderweireld Clyne - JWP - Schneiderlin - Davis - Bertrand Mane - Pelle 3-5-2 again. I think its 3412 though, with JWP playing the number 10 role.
Shroppie Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 I think its 3412 though, with JWP playing the number 10 role. Agree, but maybe Davis in the hole? Will probably rotate anyway.
Weston Saint Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 3 centre backs as against Everton. Maine plays behind Pelle because we are away and he offers more pace.
Saint Garrett Posted 26 December, 2014 Posted 26 December, 2014 Have to be careful of their wide men getting in behind Bertrand and Clyne. Defending the channels is always a problem when you play 3-5-2
