Oh yeah, that's the other thing about Virgin, *THEY* own the equipment so if you leave them you have to send it back or you face getting a bill for it.

 

I left Virgin BB and threw the router out 3 months later, then got a phone call saying that someone was going to call around to pick the router up. I said I'd thrown it out and they said they might charge me for it, never did though.

 

With Sky you own the equipment so can put it on eBay when you leave them! Mind you also means you have to pay for newer stuff like HD boxes etc. etc. Virgin should replace/upgrade for free..

But remember that if you have Sky plus you will lose access to the recordings, and also (I think?) the recording facility. Sky boxes are not designed to last much beyond a year. The capacitors in the psu are cheapskate and dry up. You can get kits on Ebay to replace them.

Ive never liked putting money into Murdoch's pocket but didn't want to deprive the kids of the programmes they like. This thread prompted me to look at the options again and I discovered I can get the same programmes plus Netflix from BT for £10pm less. Happy with that.

Without wanting to sound overly principled but is main reason I wouldn't subscribe to Sky.

 

If you get any of Sky's channels through another non-dodgy provider, Murdoch is still getting his cash. It just goes through another company before it gets to him.

By the dictionary definition, we've only a few on here anyway. We've got plenty of naggers. Rebellion is in shorter supply. I occasionally look up angry parking charge men just to see a bit of it.
