Tadic Rested Due to Tiredness

Did it? He had the injury for some time, how do you know when it started?

Tadic says that he began to experience problems in the second half of the season; whereas his form began to dip in November and December. He also says that it was only the last two months that things got really bad; before that, there were times he felt better, though he probably tried to overdo things as a result.

He was on the bench, I'm sure he's fine.

Anyway, they'll run tests regularly, and he's been poor since January so it's not just about health. It wasn't even near a stage of too many games, and didn't look like tiredness. He seems to find less space and usually makes the wrong decision. Early on it was a bit more instinctive, plenty of good early through balls and crosses.

I guess his reluctance to shoot and awful right foot were going to get noticed after a while.

Agree- he tended to be more clinical in his early days - didn't dwell on the ball; but released it early with plenty of zip. That's critical for a player who likes to stand a player up rather than hover and find space in the pockets. Partly, he's struggled as the team has struggled and our buildup has tended to slow down.

He you ever played with a groin strain? It isn't fun even when it isn't "really bad" and I certainly wouldn't want to play with any kind of long term injury like that in the cauldron of the Premiership. He showed plenty of quality when he started and has over 25 caps for his country so I am sure he is not a complete donkey. Maybe his loss of form has something to do with not playing him in his best position as well as his physical problems? Who knows. But I still think the guy has done enough to show that he can play at this level.

I've played with two pulled hamstrings*, but I couldn't even move my leg to kick the ball with a groin strain.

*Technically I played for 6 weeks with one pulled hamstring and it was only when I pulled the other one taking a free kick that I went off.

Ramirez is better then Tadic tbh.

:mcinnes: Ramirez has never ever been good other than one spell at villa, he has proved he is not cut-out for the premiership, what makes you think he's better than tadic? hes nowhere near on the same level imo tadic has already done way more than ramirez ever did

God , I'm counting down the days that Gaston finally slings his hook and minces about on somebody else's money. Somehow I doubt that'll be the end of it though , they'll be post after post remembering the " Villa game" and how he " undoubtably has talent" . The blokes a complete and utter waste of money . Tadic did more in the first 10 games of the season than Gastons done in his entire Southampton career. **** me he couldn't even get in the Hull side , some people need to let go and accept he's pony .

Gaston Ramirez - 2227 minutes

Dusan Tadic - 2198 minutes

Oh wait, that makes Gaston statistically more effective doesn't it?

So just to clarify after one season Tadic, despite a groin injury, has managed almost as many minutes on the pitch as Gaston managed in three seasons for saints.....

Pretty sure people used to say the same thing about Lee Holmes in league 1

ah...... There was a player!

Ramirez. .... I'd be delighted if he could play for us at the level he showed in that Villa game, but let's face it he's had nearly 2 seasons of mediocrity since then, so the chances of him being brilliant aren't great. He seems to be the latest example of a player somehow getting better in people's rating when he isn't playing.

Tadic .... As someone has said a blood test could just be showing a virus or similar, so no need to worry too much as yet. I am in the "play him on the left" camp personally. He looks much better on that side. But Ron seems determined to put him on the right. Now if only I had a lifetime's background of playing and managing at the top level, maybe ........

This Tadic vs. Ramirez discussion is f**king hillarious.

As someone has said, The Gash has managed the same playing time in 3 seasons that Tadic has in one. Oh, and lets not forget, hes never played more than 3 games in a row. Whilst he may just sneak in in terms of contribution (over 3 seasons, of course) compared to Tadic's one, the fact is he is unreliable and more interested in Uruguay than us (gets off a plane and plays for them but needs 1-2 months to get back and recover).

All that time we are paying The Gash. Simply speaking, we've got more bang-per-buck out of Tadic.

F**k The Gash. I'd take Tadic over Ramirez any day of the week.

Based purely on what is observed from the outside, the problem with Ramirez seems to be one or more of: fitness; commitment; attitude.

There were a few occasions under Adkins and Pochettino when he had managed a couple of decent performances and looked set for a run of starts. He then invariably got injured and by the time he was fit was reduced to cameo appearances again.

He then went to Hull and couldn't hold down a first team place.

This season, he was clearly welcomed into training but, by the looks of it, is not fit enough.

Whether it's a cultural thing, an inherent personality thing, an inherent fitness issue or anything else, I think it's apparent that the issue is not whether his footballing skills are up to the task or not.

Tadic, on the other hand, I think has shown application and determination but seems to be suffering from something or other. Let's hope he gets fit again because the squad is lacking without him.
