RK reaction to cup exit

Batman

Recommended Posts

This showed what cup football is. It is not always about the level

They had the best chances

we were not good enough, we did not create enough

in the last few games, we have changed too many people too often

We have played people who are not fresh

You cant do that in this country

Sheff united had unbelievable spirit

you can ask after, WHY? it is difficult to answer

They had great spirit. We needed to show our qualities

we were not good enough in our positions and the game turned into a battle. That suited them more

we had great support today.

it is difficult at the moment. Another defeat on the cards

we have had a lot of problems physically, we have missed so many players with so many changes all the time

The squad is not as deep as we would like.

we knew that though. we just did not expect the injury and suspensions like this at once

saturday will be another problem with Morgan and victor out. we took that risk before the game to try and win

we didnt

we carry on

Pretty fair assessment. I don't know who the people questioning team selection would want to play given the enforced lack of choice. The gamble of playing Morgan and Victor was one most of the moaners would have wanted, but we can now see why managers are reluctant to play certain players on certain occasions..

And what about the refund for all those who showed the spirit that the team lacked and forked out good money to travel north to give the team unbelievable support?

If they agree to pay double for every win attended I see no problems with them being reimbursed for a loss.

Surely his lack of game time since the Villa game shows that he isn't good enough yet?

Agreed, and it's exciting waiting to see when / if he will make the grade.

I think that youth development tends to happen in fits and starts rather than suddenly a player is good enough and they play all the time. Ward Prowse was in and out of the team for a while. Same with Chambers. I wouldn't be surprised to see Harrison get a run of games and then have a break for a while too.

Koeman got the team completely wrong tonight just like he did against Burnley. These teams are battling for everything that can get and he should know that and react accordingly. He took too many risks tonight with his team selection and now we're without Vic & Morgan for Saturday. Sorry, Ronald. Not impressed at all. Now we're facing a sixth straight defeat at the weekend. Brilliant.

Sort this ****ing mess out.

Yeah, Mane is not fresh yet he resolutely plays him! Is he Mane's father?

I didn't realise we had so many of them. These people are like little brats that can't cope at first sign of everything not being rosey.

Think we have magic solutions and RK should know exactly when someone will play badly or make a mistake and magically replace them with a youthful stronger replacement.

First sign ? Remind me how many losses we have on the trot now? And if a player (Mane) has played crap for the last 7 games it stands to reason he's probably going to be **** the next game!? I know one thing I sure as he'll hope his post match team talk isn't as chilled out as his interview

So you thought we were clueless and hopeless against Arsenal and Utd. Newcastle and West Ham turned around what looked like inept hopeless teams. No doubt their fans were posting similar after we battered them both. It happens and a sh1t looking team can switch. Two poor performances doesn't mean world has caved in. No confidence for Saturday but we have been spoilt by our start. Just get a grip.

Hmm, who's footballing nous should invest our emotions in - Ronald Koeman's (a footballer with a verifiable CV) or Sidney Fudpucker's (history unknown).

This is not a dig at you Sid, but we do need to take a realistic look at where we are in terms of squad strength etc. Truth is, we are nothing but a mid table team as Wet Spam and Newcastle are proving right now.

Talking of reactions did anyone hear "Michael" the saints fan phone in talk sport? Heard him on the way back. Ranting that he wanted wins and titles and he wanted them now and then went mental when they said he was deluded then started blubbing. Brightened up an otherwise miserable night.

I'm sad enough to listen again and record that for posterity. Seriously tho, some of the reactions have been mental. I suggest all those struggling get a cat to kick!

Stay strong fellow supporters. We're on a bad run that will test the team and management to the full. We were never going to breeze the season without any hiccups.

Keep the faith!

The obsession with Harrison Reed on this forum is hilarious.

Only because Les said he was the best player ever to come out of our academy. Now what prompted him to say that I've no idea but when you've got a lad who's supposed to be better than Bale, AOC,Walcott and many other then most would like to

know exactly why at nigh on 20 he's not considered good enough to get any game time whatsoever.

Many of these posts are so similar to that Geordie fella. It's becoming hilarious that we go through a bad spell and suddenly we are crap.Players don't become crap overnight. Our squad is a little too thin but I'm pretty sure RK will select those he see's as capable. Keep the faith and don't fall into the trap that that Geordies did. Look what they're doing now.Pardew is still their Manager and kept faith in his players. We must do the same.

Amen!

It's just a natural response I guess. A player I've heard is decent, sitting on the bench. We're losing games. That must mean he can make a difference. Player injured for long time, was decent but not amazing....suddenly becomes amazing and the solution to all of our problems during his recovery.

Same can be said for Gaston. Had zero impact here, we shifted him to hull, where he continues to have zero impact - yet people are calling for his return as we miss his creativity or something, not that I've ever seen that particular trait in his game.

Good points S. Clarke. MY point would be we have seen 60 or so appearances from a young academy player like JWP and apart from some reasonable imitations of Gerard and Beckham with dead ball delivery there has been very little else from him as a player pushed forward; as an attacking midfielder and certainly not as a DM. Therefore, why not throw Harry Reed in against the Toffees with Vic and Morgan missing. What do we have to lose?

James has really good technique, but....he struggles to impose himself, that's his main issue. He doesn't seem capable of dominating a midfielder and winning the battle. If we're on the front foot and he's attacking in space, then he looks good as he's terrifically technically gifted....but like yesterday, hustle and bustle of a L1 midfield - he just couldn't exert himself against it.

He's still young obviously, got a lot of maturing to do....but he needs to do more other than sideways and backwards, he needs to start being that imposing figure his confidence suggests he can be.

Not quite with you there but when you have 3 CMs of which one is injured and the other 2 on 4 yellows you do not send them both out against a 3 rd division side in a MM Cup game on a northern quagmire in midwinter. To boot you put your regular LB at LM and a kiddy at LB, you then realise that the kiddy isn't getting the job done at HT so you take him off, play your regular LB at LB and put a no hoper at LM. Then when you need to take one of your CMs off because the other has been booked you can't because you've wasted your sub possibilities on some half baked schema that dawned on you whilst you were having a crap or something. Koeman was criticised for some of his decisions in Spain, I can see why now. I mean when Victor got booked the game was up for him, no game on Saturday, so take Morgan off and leave Toby in MF with Victor, nope he leaves Morgan on to get booked and takes Victor off.

Now I see that he's whining about Clough not showing him respect...welcome to England Ronald.

Just recently I saw RK criticised for not playing Targett and pushing Bertrand forward. Now he is criticised for doing just that. RK wasn't the best manager in the world when we were 2nd and he isn't the worst now we have lost several games on the trot. We have done well to get where we are but were always going to struggle with injuries and suspensions. The real work starts now.

A 20yo who dominates midfield. Let me just see how many of those I can mention...........

I didn't say he's expected to dominate midfield outright, but you'd expect to see by now - after 60 games - slightly more presence in that area. I like James, don't get me wrong, terrific talent and will only get better - but he doesn't quite influence enough for me just yet.
