Sheff Utd 1-0 Saints Post match carnage.

If the powers-that-be though that we could just enter the January window looking to add a depth player or two, the last five games - and especially tonight - have surely changed that.

It almost feels as though we're back where we were when Koeman arrived. Long and Mané look abysmal, Morgan almost looks like he's already checked out, and I'm even less convinced about Forster than I was when we signed him.

All I'm trying to figure out now is whether something-unseen has happened inside the club, because we've suddenly fallen off the cliff with no apparent explanation.

I've plenty of confidence in Koeman, but I get the sense he and others had forgotten how weak a squad they had inherited. We have a system that is dependent on 11 players all being on form - and no plan B if that's not the case.

If there is one positive (and this is a stretch) it's that the need for major strengthening in January is glaringly obvious.

At least I feel like a Saints fan again.

I don't often post but dalek you really are a tedious troll no smiley faces no winky things just disdain

The truth of the matter is, that I warned that we would fight to stay up and its looking like I might be right. Wake up and smell the coffee ! Take your head out the sand !

What a load of old gash. Worryingly inept up front and what is it with this gentlemans excuse me, you first, no please after you, poncing around the box bollix? Trying to pass it in the net is crap and needs to be mixed up with something far more direct. Suspensions will not help for Saturday either. Unfortunately I can see us getting turned over big style against Everton.

Not a single positive, not one attacking moment I can remember. Not one save made to deny us.

Utter trash heap crap.

But we've got our future English International, goal scoring, goal assisting JWP back - is that not a positive. I'm sorry I could not resist some sarcasm. PLenty of stick for Mane and Long, but sooner or later people are going to wake up to the fact that JWP isn't that good.

To think we've spent:

Long £12m

Mane £10m

Mayuka £4m

3 utterly sh*te Championship/league one players.

Fuming. That was a disgrace. Totally pathetic. Not been this p*ssed off for a long time. Embarrassing.

long aint sh!t

mane is laughable? 10m for that?

mayuka aint worth £4

poor spurs for signing our head scout

Worst performance since promotion. We just DO NOT look like scoring ever. We were **** tonight and I never thought we'd equalise. That said I really think the main problem is squad depth. Fatigue and suspensions have ****ed us over.

Bitterly disappointed.

Oh and Mane has a lot to do to prove to me he's a premier league player.

Well as I said in the previous 'defeat thread' we are seriously looking at nine or ten defeats on the trot.

I am not SUGGESTING this but I am WONDERING if Koeman's position at the club will become untenable?

If this form and weird team selections continues I cannot see him being her at the end of the season - if this does continue over Christmas - which it will - we actually could easily be facing a relegation scrap. Plenty of other sides have started top ten or higher and slipped right down the table - for instance Blackpool and Hull City off the top of my head.

This is worrying - Saturday is could easily turn out to be a 4-0 home hammering.

Oh well as it ever was.

Here we go, what have I been saying !

I'm the sunniest of sunny optimists. I got nothing after this. Heartbroken.

SSA is with NYS.

Normally very happy clappy and glass-half-full, but come on.

WTF?

We were ****. We are ****. We not only ****ed this up, but also the upcoming game against Everton.

Questions DO need to be asked. We need to spend in January to give us some depth. We need to get back to winning ways.

Today we played woefully. Not a single exciting moment, not a single decent attempt on goal, and not a single threat on teh pitch. we were second best tonight and deserved to lose.

How have we lost our way so ****ing quickly?

Come on Ronald, don't be another flash in the pan, please.

This is worse than SUNDERLAND result last year.

At least in the Sunderland game we were actually in the game, and if you can remember Lambert missed from 5 yards. This was truly pathetic.

I can see us collecting just 1 point from our next five games. Absolutely shocking.

The defence looks OK, however in attack we're terrible - awful.

Long, Mane, Mayuka, Victor, JWP (Who KEPT losing the ball!), were terrible - and then Clyne and Bertrand had bad games too, Gardos had a nightmare all evening,

Foster saved us on a few occasions, but as a collective whole it's the worst Saints performance for two seasons.

Koeman needs to change things and quick, bring in Reed, take out Mane, bring in Seager or Rowe, we have some great talent coming through time to use them!

Also, I thought Yoshi would have been a much better bet than Gardos tonight who is just Hooiveld but more athletic.

So you have just described our best youth player as playing terrible, then say we need to play others who aren't as good?

Absolutely abject; outfought, outthought and outplayed by a division 1 side. We never looked as though we would score in a month of Tuesdays. And so unprofessional to pick up unnecessary yellow cards for Morgan and Victor, who therefore will miss the Everton match. At least (presumably) we shall get to see what Reed can do against the Toffees. And unforgivable for RK to not shake hands with and congratulate Clough. Well done the Blades! You deserved it; we could easily have lost 3:0 or 4:0. Disaaaaster!

The better side won, which is embarrassing when they're two divisions below. In addition to the injuries, we've now decimated our own team for Saturday with 3 silly suspensions and show no form or goalscoring possibilities. Incredible fall from grace and something we need to somehow snap out of quickly. Whether it's a loss form or something more fundamental behind the scenes, Ronnie needs to get it sorted.

I warned there would be major meltdown if we lost tonight. We seriously lack squad depth, the lack of goals is a major worry. When Pelle's not firing we have no real goal threat. We really do need a winter break as the games are coming thick and fast. I honestly can't see us winning for a couple of months. We need to start focussing on next season, this one is over.

Makes me laugh, cant remember who it is but calling for Reed every five minutes, as if he is going to change our fortunes. Even worse some talking about gallagher.

It was said how weak the overall squad was

That was truly shocking. Mane & Long were an embarrassment and are never worth a combined total of £22mil.

Mayuka did nothing when he came on and Isgrove and JWP looked out of their depth, worryingly against a third division team. One shot on target in the whole game is so poor it defies belief.

We look totally shot confidence wise and I really struggle to see where a goal is going to come from let alone a win.

I feel for the 4000 fans that made the trip to watch that dross..

Did you watch the Arsenal and Utd game you plum?

Yes, bottom feeder I did.

Did you?

United created the least chances in a game they've played since Opta stats began.

They were complete sh*te, there for the taking....but we lost.

Arsenal were cra*p for most of the game as well, but we failed to punish them, and lost.

You might be happy with paying great football for 15 minutes at a time, then losing, but I'm not, and I don't think RK is either.

I also noticed how poor the conditions have been for the last few games.

P*ssing it down for 90 minutes doesn't really favour the more skilled team.....

...but the failure to grind out a result when it matters is why we fail.

We badly overpaid for Long and Mane.

No one disagree's about Long, our moneyball team desperately wanted him and overpaid for him based on what he provides.

Mane was an unknown and the first 4 games was pretty decent.

I think someone here summed it up the best as his team mates don't know what he is going to do so its impacting what runs they do etc and I would say more often than not his touch is not there.

Gutting we've lost 5 on the spin, of those only 1 was outplayed, the more upsetting thing is the lack of goals or the attempts required to score.

Tadic/Mane/Long - would love to see their mins/shots/goals ratio, they just aren't doing it the last 2 months.

We can't rely on Morgan or Vic to score and has Steve Davis/JWP prowse scored this season ?, we need a top of the diamond who runs at defences, see's runs, has close control and can score.

Obviously the established names cost a lot so who are the alternatives or upcoming 10's ?
