On a good run, in champions league spots early on

Players and staff start to mention champions league, fans start to believe in our own hype

Away league game to an average side, keeper makes an utter howler and we draw.

The the wheels come right off and we go out of the cup after the manager makes lots of changes (leave toby on the bench FFS)

Injuries and suspensions take their toll and we appear to keep playing the same way

It appears we have become the team so many predicted we would in the summer...

but what is different than last season? cant see much really

It's spooky in the sense of how everything is playing out - the injuries, the suspensions, the start we had, the pitiful showing in a cup game....

But we're not a bad side, we haven't turned into **** over night. We've got serious confidence issues right now, bought on by the fact that I believe they got a little too carried away and started to believe their own hype (Villa away being an example).

The performances against Arsenal and Utd were ok, it's the performances against the lesser sides which have started ringing the alarm bells with regards to complacency. We're more than good enough to win against Sheffield Utd, clearly, but it's not played on paper. We just weren't there tonight, not the right mentality what so ever. Blame has to lay at the management and coaches, as well as the players.

Pretty much this. It is amazingly similar. And I'm not going to complain if we finish 8th again either. We had bad performances last year as well. Cardiff at home for example. It happens. I think I'm just going to write off the rest of December, and we can regroup in January. Doing my best not to get too upset about recent results, because there's bugger all I can do about it anyway.
