Ludwig Posted 15 December, 2014 Posted 15 December, 2014 Is Nigel's sacking an opportunity for us to move forward? The whole reason he was sacked was Cortese and we all know how flawed his judgements were in certain situations. He had something against Nigel. But now, as we see our side struggling for form and looking more and more likely to free fall down to mid table obscurity, maybe it is time for Nigel to make his return? Thoughts?

No thanks, I like Koeman. I liked Adkins too, but that was then and this is now.
doddisalegend Posted 15 December, 2014 Posted 15 December, 2014 wow 1 out of 10 as trolling attempts go that is pretty Lame

And Cortese's management appointments were brilliant, hence bottom to top in short time
ART Posted 15 December, 2014 Posted 15 December, 2014 If we really have ambition, bringing Nigel into the coaching team in charge of the Academy and youth development would be an excellent move. Personally, I have long felt disappointment with the management and coaching of the Academy. Something is missing. The level has dropped in the past 18 months and we could do worse than recruiting someone in football management to be involved in the development of our youngsters.
suewhistle Posted 15 December, 2014 Posted 15 December, 2014 I saw the the thread title and immediately exclaimed "Oh do p**s off", so I thought I'd write it as well.
Shroppie Posted 15 December, 2014 Posted 15 December, 2014 I appreciated everything he did for us, but we have better now. I wish him well.
Mattio Posted 15 December, 2014 Posted 15 December, 2014 Didn't our Physio leave recently, maybe he can come in as Physio/Coach?
goneawol Posted 15 December, 2014 Posted 15 December, 2014 Tonight we will be visited by three spirits....

Delboy Dave Posted 15 December, 2014 Posted 15 December, 2014 Well I for one would welcome Nigel back in some capacity - not first team of course but I feel he could do something with the youth team!
SarniaSaint Posted 15 December, 2014 Posted 15 December, 2014 Reply to the OP............LOL great try

How many of those defeats were his fault though? Not many I'd say.
CB Fry Posted 16 December, 2014 Posted 16 December, 2014 How many of those defeats were his fault though? Not many I'd say. I've been saying all season he needs three or four more top, top quality players.
saint lard Posted 16 December, 2014 Posted 16 December, 2014 Adkins to Portsmouth would be marvellous. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
supersonic Posted 16 December, 2014 Posted 16 December, 2014 Why take a huge step backwards? The guy, as nice as he is, has an awful lot to learn when it comes to tactics and all this "draw a blue line under-neath it and move on" mentality doesn't work.

What do you think we should do? Worry endlessly about each loss? No, of course not. You move on, being positive about your chances in the next game. Adkins gave the players belief. It wasn't a blame game, like you seem to want. Lets get the positivity back.
Stud mark of doom Posted 16 December, 2014 Posted 16 December, 2014 How many of those defeats were his fault though? Not many I'd say. Pretty sure Harry's squad was down to the bare bones for the entire period

Lets get the positivity back. I have no issue with Adkins - I just think he's not as good as people make out. My issue with the blue line thingy is that with Saints, and Reading, there were issues that the team had that needed addressing, drawing a blue line under it and pretending it doesn't need fixing clearly doesn't work. Average manager at best.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 16 December, 2014 Posted 16 December, 2014 Yeah let's swap a European Cup winning Manager with one who's failed in the Championship. Seems to make sense right?

My thoughts are that we've moved on and there's no reason to take a punt on a manager who has proven the ability to stay in the division, when we have one who's proven the ability to get us into the top 6 for half a season. Times and personnel change, and Koeman's better suited to the current lot.

OldNick Posted 16 December, 2014 Posted 16 December, 2014 Lol, is it so desperate in L2 that you need to try and forget by coming on a Premier League site.
whelk Posted 16 December, 2014 Posted 16 December, 2014 How many of those defeats were his fault though? Not many I'd say. After QPR's latest defeat, Harry Redknapp said he wouldn't have lost 8 successive away games if he was Chelsea manager.

Mr X Posted 16 December, 2014 Posted 16 December, 2014 After QPR's latest defeat, Harry Redknapp said he wouldn't have lost 8 successive away games if he was Chelsea manager. nope he'd have been sacked before he reached 8 that's for sure!
Mr X Posted 16 December, 2014 Posted 16 December, 2014 think he would be a good youth coach here & would welcome him back, cant see him accepting a less senior role though!
