Ewell Posted 14 December, 2014 Share Posted 14 December, 2014 The one positive we can take from yesterday is it was fantastic to see James Ward-Prowse back in the team. I am sure James and Ronald Koeman were not expecting to get so many minutes under his belt yesterday but with Schneiderlin and Cork both out and struggling JWP's return is a welcome one. In all honesty he did not look like he had even been away, his work rate probing and passing were instrumental in our best moments in the match. I hope he gets more minutes on Tuesday night and he could be really important to us. Welcome back James and ignore the doubters.
DuncanRG Posted 14 December, 2014 Share Posted 14 December, 2014 Too right - he will be very useful for us over the next few weeks.
rooney Posted 14 December, 2014 Share Posted 14 December, 2014 Yep, RK must give him game time on Tuesday.
Saint_clark Posted 14 December, 2014 Share Posted 14 December, 2014 Great ball in for Wanyama right near the end who should have scored. I'd have him in the starting 11 as much as possible.
Alain Perrin Posted 14 December, 2014 Share Posted 14 December, 2014 Takes a good corner too. Not that we've been needing that...... ?
Charlie Wayman Posted 14 December, 2014 Share Posted 14 December, 2014 With Schneiderlin fit again on Saturday JWP will be on the bench but at least we have the option of subbing one of the midfielders at the 2/3rd's point with a guy of some quality. Obviously Hesketh won't be fit so no competition from him yet awhile but if I was JWP I'd be looking over my shoulder at this even younger pretender who looks suspiciously like a future goal machine
Clem Fandango Posted 14 December, 2014 Share Posted 14 December, 2014 The loss of Schneiderlin, Cork and Ward-Prowse has exposed a lack of depth in central midfield. Ward-Prowse offers a lot in terms of corners and free kicks. We've not made enough out of dead ball situations since Lambert left.
angelman Posted 14 December, 2014 Share Posted 14 December, 2014 Wouldn't he be best to take penalties?

Saint86 Posted 15 December, 2014 Share Posted 15 December, 2014 Wouldn't he be best to take penalties? I wouldn't mind seeing clyne take a few pen's, "dig that one out sunshine" springs to mind. But yeah, JWP is the boy. I hope his doubters have gone away, our set peice delivery from free kicks and corners is utterly shocking without the lad. When playing Pelle up front, that makes him a must starter. Hopefully we can go back to him, tadic/long and davis starting in midfield again soon. Like at the start. Jayrod to return in the new year at some point. Its not all bad news you know guys, we are 5th and pushing top 4 you realise! Europa league and LC final to come! saintbob40 Posted 15 December, 2014 Share Posted 15 December, 2014 55 PL games usually as advanced midfielder no goals.......needs to work on his game outside of dead ball situations. Would agree if he is on the pitch JWP should take penalties. Outside of Morgan and Cork we have no one who can run a game which is our biggest issue at present. VW is very good without the ball but not very good with it.......and I see SD as more of an AM rather than a DM.

He doesn't affect games in a material way, doesn't score goals or make runs into dangerous positions. He can kick a dead ball and make an easy pass but is probably not going to be good enough... Maybe in the future, surely Pelle should take the pens, even though Tadic has only missed 1 in 13.
Ewell Posted 12 April, 2015 Author Share Posted 12 April, 2015 Wouldn't he be best to take penalties? Nice foresight Angelman. I also have noticed recently that James has started to fill out a lot more. He is developing like Luke Shaw did in the close season of 2013. I expect a big year from James next year and think he will cement his place as a first team starter. in
