Head of recruitment in looking at the sane targets as his previous club shocker

And to whitewash what he has done is just fickle fan crap tbh. He is highly thought of for a reason

No whitewash think he was more an organizer than the super finder of talent ..........that's my opinion anyway.

Les Reed and Martin Hunter's nickname for him was 'milk and two sugars Mitchell' and under Koeman his role was expanded to include waffles. At Spurs he has executive responsibility for their new state of the art Dolce Gusto machine. Credit where it's due...

As I understand it, Mitchell headed up a team of several people who looked at every player everywhere and identified those who fitted a particular profile that suited us. So naturally he knows who we are interested in, but conversely we know who Spurs will be interested in based on current research. Spurs as a team will have both different positional needs to ours and different opinions about the sort of player personality and background to ours. Because of the managerial input, Spurs will be favouring Latin players particularly Spanish/Argentinian, whereas we will favour Dutch/Northern European players. Koeman gives us the edge over Van Dijk and Mitchell's previous involvement means very little.

Is that article supposed to imply the yids had never heard of Virgil Van Dijk before they appointed Paul Mitchell? If they had come across him on their scouting radar,as I'm sure they will have, then it hardly proves Mitchell to be a great coup for them, just the bloke with a glorified notepad, listing names and crossing them off again.

Do Managers mostly sign players of their own nationality then?

We have zero Dutch players and I think Spurs might be a little concerned that they have enough Latin types already. Mostly linked with Berahino, Jay Rod, Morgan none of whom fit the stereotype you have attached.

Suppose you were one of the ones sick of Cortese buying all those Italians.

Once Mitchell has exhausted his hastily downloaded database he will find himself back at MK Dons.

For every Wanyama signed during his sojourn there's an Osvaldo and then some...

I understood that the player data for the Black Box comes from the Saints' overseas / domestic scouting team. (as long as they remember who's paying their salaries), so that Mitchell may have a problem keeping it updated as ..a Sky Radio interview (with a former Spuds employee) I heard several weeks ago revealed that Spuds were the only Prem.side without a scouting network :scared:...... ....as it has all been delegated to the foreign " whats his name?".. who squandered all of the £85 million Bale fee (and a bit more) .....in buying Soldado & Co.

Time willl tell.........

I wasnt saying his involvement has any 'edge' FWIW, its just another completely unimaginative article. Mitchell would have spent the past 12 months looking at certain targets, some of which will be good enough for spurs, he has just got to white hart lane and so probably hasnt got time to look at new targets straight away, and so will utilise those he already knows.

Those writing him off as just another bloke is a little laughable, he has a great name for himself in football circles and headed up much of what has been built from a recruitment point of view. Will he be a miss ? Yes I think he will, will we be ok ? Yes we will be absolutely fine.

Well the press all credit him with Tadic and Pelle, which is obviously b*llsh*t - Koeman is the man.

And no-one is mentioning Osvaldo, Ramirez, Mayuka......

Black box my arse.

Have we actually signed someone from the "black box" that has been a absolute gem of a find ??? no I don't think so Tadic and Pelle are clearly Koeman buys,Mane & Gardos seem like the only black box finds

Rodriguez maybe?

newspaper articles indicated that Wanyama and Forster were his picks.

It has been confirmed that Tadic was on our black box radar screen before Koeman joined, just that Koeman pushed it to conclusion.

we have had PLENTY of duds to say that the 'black box' and the magic around it, is not quite true.

we have a success rate like most teams

Want to reconsider Mane???

Let's be honest here, he was hardly an unknown. Koeman already knew of him (and wanted him), plus he was also a transfer target for other teams long before he joined Saints.

Having said that, I honestly think this "black box" seems to be more about personality profiling than finding new players. We seem to be looking for a certain type of player who is a team player, will grow/develop further and so on.
