Whitey Grandad Posted 3 January, 2015 Posted 3 January, 2015 No news yet on the results of his scan. Was the injury received during the goal celebrations as he sat down on the pitch just after? One of the papers said that it was because all his teammates had piled on top of him.
Dark Munster Posted 3 January, 2015 Posted 3 January, 2015 One of the papers said that it was because all his teammates had piled on top of him. I can never understand these risky goal celebrations. For example, sliding on both knees always makes me cringe (I'm looking at you Shane Long).
Whitey Grandad Posted 3 January, 2015 Posted 3 January, 2015 I can never understand these risky goal celebrations. For example, sliding on both knees always makes me cringe (I'm looking at you Shane Long). There have been several serious injuries. This was one of the more serious: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2799893/indian-mirozam-premier-league-footballer-dies-spinal-injuries-somersault-goal-celebration.html
cellone Posted 3 January, 2015 Posted 3 January, 2015 Didn't Rednep ban Lua Lua from backflips after an injury?
Batman Posted 3 January, 2015 Posted 3 January, 2015 best goal celebration injury has to be Adams dropping Steve Morrow and breaking him
angelman Posted 3 January, 2015 Posted 3 January, 2015 There was a bloke in China or somewhere in Asia, who did a back flip, broke his back, taken to hospital and died!!
SaintTex Posted 3 January, 2015 Posted 3 January, 2015 One of the papers said that it was because all his teammates had piled on top of him.Not smart to pile on the smallest guy on the pitch.
kpturner Posted 3 January, 2015 Posted 3 January, 2015 There was a bloke in China or somewhere in Asia, who did a back flip, broke his back, taken to hospital and died!! The one in post #407 you mean?
Downthe36 Posted 3 January, 2015 Posted 3 January, 2015 I can never understand these risky goal celebrations. For example, sliding on both knees always makes me cringe (I'm looking at you Shane Long). I was always concerned that Mayuka's goal celebration could cause him a lengthy injury....oh.
Whitey Grandad Posted 3 January, 2015 Posted 3 January, 2015 The one in post #407 you mean? Not as serious, but injuries do occur: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paulo_Diogo
Sheaf Saint Posted 3 January, 2015 Posted 3 January, 2015 No news yet on the results of his scan. Was the injury received during the goal celebrations as he sat down on the pitch just after? On the stream I was watching the taters said he had picked up the injury in training but hoped he would be able to play through it.
Matthew Le God Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 (edited) Was the injury received during the goal celebrations as he sat down on the pitch just after? Wanyama may be to blame, Mane was celebrating his goal with a couple of teammates and Wanyama jumped on top of them all. Mane then started to hold part of his leg in pain, as it may have buckled awkwedly. You can see it briefly here, I did see a longer version and it looks even clearer that Wanyama jumping in did something to cause Mane to be in pain... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmiE_hxRM8w Edited 4 January, 2015 by Matthew Le God
Bewildered Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Mane is not ging to the AFCON as his unjury will rule him out for 4-6 weeks.
Georgie Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 How convenient. Reckon he will be back before then.
Window Cleaner Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Mane is not ging to the AFCON as his unjury will rule him out for 4-6 weeks. Good, you really do not want your players tossing about down in sub saharian africa mid season. Especially those that were at the WC last summer.
Patrick Bateman Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Mane is not ging to the AFCON as his unjury will rule him out for 4-6 weeks. Hopefully we'll get him back earlier then, so potentially good news on current form.
Asaint4ever Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Mane was hanging out the saints store after the game. Looked ok

Saint Charlie Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Senegal look to be without Diafra Sakho too.
sadoldgit Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Interesting that a few days ago people on here couldn't wait for him to go to Africa so he couldn't play for us.
cellone Posted 4 January, 2015 Posted 4 January, 2015 Is it interesting or a dig at those who thought he was playing poorly?
angelman Posted 5 January, 2015 Posted 5 January, 2015 Seems he is out for 6 weeks and going to miss the ACN. Shame for him. https://sg.sports.yahoo.com/news/injured-southampton-striker-mane-miss-africa-cup-nations-201500947--spt.html

Shame for him. https://sg.sports.yahoo.com/news/injured-southampton-striker-mane-miss-africa-cup-nations-201500947--spt.html That's sad for him. And all because he scored a goal and everybody piled on to of him, apparently.
Sour Mash Posted 5 January, 2015 Posted 5 January, 2015 And all because he scored a goal and everybody piled on to of him, apparently. Where did you hear this from?
sadoldgit Posted 5 January, 2015 Posted 5 January, 2015 Is it interesting or a dig at those who thought he was playing poorly? Both.
Bucks Saint Posted 5 January, 2015 Posted 5 January, 2015 (edited) Where did you hear this from? per MLG post #416, among various others above. Edited 5 January, 2015 by Bucks Saint
Sour Mash Posted 5 January, 2015 Posted 5 January, 2015 per MLG post #416, among various others above. Cheers. Bloody ridiculous if true, one of those things I guess, but just when the lad is hitting form makes it even more frustrating.
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 5 January, 2015 Posted 5 January, 2015 Cheers. Bloody ridiculous if true, one of those things I guess, but just when the lad is hitting form makes it even more frustrating. Let's all pray for a speedy recovery.
Lets B Avenue Posted 5 January, 2015 Posted 5 January, 2015 Let's all pray for a speedy recovery. I'm sure MLG agrees.
Whitey Grandad Posted 5 January, 2015 Posted 5 January, 2015 Where did you hear this from? Press report in either The Times or The Mail the day after the match.
Picard Posted 5 January, 2015 Posted 5 January, 2015 According to BBC, Senegal want to name him in the squad anyway.
saint si Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 According to his Facebook... it's only a minor injury and he should be back on the pitch in 2 weeks... All sounds a bit convenient!
the saint in winchester Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 If he's not properly injured, he ought to shut up. Sounds like Senegal will want to assess him at the least, so likely a trip overseas. Poo.
Saint Pete Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 Big Sam's managed to get Sakho out of going, but looks like Mane's gone off to the training camp. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11685/9635586/africa-cup-of-nations-west-ham-and-senegal-striker-diafra-sakho-to-miss-tournament
Saint Charlie Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 Bet Sakho plays for WH before the tournament ends! They have done well with Song also not going.
Saint Charlie Posted 7 January, 2015 Posted 7 January, 2015 If he's not properly injured, he ought to shut up. Sounds like Senegal will want to assess him at the least, so likely a trip overseas. Poo. More likely he is downplaying the injury as is desparate to have a chance to play in the ACON. Can't blame the guy for that. Just hope he and Senegal are sensible and don't rush him back too soon.
austsaint Posted 7 February, 2015 Posted 7 February, 2015 Well.......... At least you're owning up Simo. He's a beauty isn't he?
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 7 February, 2015 Posted 7 February, 2015 Well.......... Took a few games to get going, starting to look a really key player now. Feels odd to say after an impressive start, but Tadic isn't a first XIer at the minute.
Rasiak-9- Posted 7 February, 2015 Posted 7 February, 2015 He's always struck me as a player with terrific potential. The pace coupled with him being able to control the ball at speed as well as the fact he's two-footed means that he's a player who'll always have the ability to pull something special off. We'll just have to accept that for now he's one of those lads who every now and then, will have the odd game where he just doesn't turn up.
Tommy Mulgrew Posted 7 February, 2015 Posted 7 February, 2015 Great game today. Always looked threatening with his pace and running behind the line of defenders. Excellent finish under pressure for the three points. If he can avoid going down too easily when leant upon he will become one of our "legends" IMO.

Until he goes to Liverpool or Spurs - then he's judas scum....
Koolman Posted 7 February, 2015 Posted 7 February, 2015 Looks like he's struggling to hear the doubters now
Golden Balls Posted 7 February, 2015 Posted 7 February, 2015 What a finish today. He's the type of player who will have a shocker followed by a blinder.
Barry the Badger Posted 8 February, 2015 Posted 8 February, 2015 What a finish today. He's the type of player who will have a shocker followed by a blinder. I think he's pretty consistent, it's just some games the things he tries won't quite come off and the morons will say he's had a shocker.
