Morgan Schneiderlin Speculation

Commentator said "he might of played his last game for Saints" as Morgan left the pitch. Mischievous comment no doubt but made me realise, he could be right :-(Edit: On the NBC stream I was watching
Think its a one game suspension, not half a season. Why do people continue to ignore Ronald's unequivocal statements.

Red card is a three game suspension surely? He was a yard off the pace today hence the desperate tackling that earned him yellows. Morgan is always a car crash waiting to happen with his silly habit of jabbing out a foot when exasperated. He is certainly an accomplished player but on today's evidence not disciplined enough to match Fabregas & Co. He'd struggle to get into the Chelsea team and most likely Man City as well.

His absence from the Arsenal games is a co-incidence not conspiratorial as the more nervous on here postulate. Maybe there is a Saints conspiracy to keep him away from Wenger?

Two yellows = one red = a one match ban.

It's not like violent conduct or serious foul play, more like denying a goal-scoring opportunity.

I did think when he got sent off that he did not look so bothered about it. It does seem strange that his absences have been when we are due to play Arsenal. Would like to think its a massive co-incidence....but i'm not so sure!
 I would like to know more about the other shooter on the grassy knoll.

Sevilla DM Gregorz Krychnowiak (linked to Arsenal since late october), tweeted this afternoon that he has agreed terms with an English club. Perhaps he is going to be the DM signing Arsenal have needed for the last two years?

On an unrelated note, December 28th is Spain's equivalent to April Fools Day, apparently.

What part of the manager saying no one is leaving in January did you fail to understand?

Typical of some on this board.......where did I say anything about Morgan leaving in Januarys window???....he will leave at some point i have no doubt...and personally i would not be surprised to see him go to Arsenal.

Not unless Wenger actually decides to pay what someone is worth. £40m should do it...

So he didn't look bothered because he may play for Arsenal sometime in the future?

That's nearly as good as some of Pap's conspiracy theories.

Apparently part of the deal we made with Arsenal when they signed Morgan for us was that he'd have to miss a certain number of games against them through suspension. MS is just keeping to the letter of the contract.

That is a quality post. Good work.

Hope he stays but fear the worst :(

Why so ? Can't see the problem, Arsenal won't pay the price and can't see anyone else interested enough in the January window to pay it either..if there even is a price if you see what I mean. Think he'll go to Rome next summer.

He'll be here for the rest of the season unless someone (PSG, Arsenal or Man United) throws genuinely silly money (£30m+) our way, and even then we might hold out until the summer.

I've no doubt that he'll be gone in the summer, even if we somehow finish in the top 4, and I'd find it difficult to begrudge him that move - someone will pay him the best part of £100k a week, and we can't come close to matching that. I think I'd prefer him to go to PSG where he can't hurt us further down the line!

Is the correct answer.

^^^ this. I think as we are pushing in and around the CL places the club won't sell in Jan unless the money is stupidly high. I don't think Arsenal or Spurs will stump up the cash for him so that leaves only Man U who might take him in the PL IMO. I'd like to see him go abroad myself.

Agreed, it seems clear to me that the Club and Morgan agreed that he would stay until the end of this summer come what may, but like you I expect him to move on before next season. My only slight cause for disagreement is that if we "somehow finish in the top 4" PSG are just as bad an option for him to join as anyone else (assuming we could get through the qualifier into the Champions League proper if we finished 4th which would be the most likely finishing spot). It would be rather disappointing to qualify for the group stages in the same group as PSG and for Morgan to be responsible for our elimination. I know, its a long shot. Think it is more likely he will end up in Spain, if he doesn't stay in the PL.

Dont worry we will not be in fourth position at the end of the season probably 7th which is really good

Believe me, I won't worry. Response to the original post by Steve. That said, 4th is not impossible, after all we are 4th now, and we have played every other team once. Just depends whether we have the determination to strengthen in January (in addition to EE) to provide depth to our "waffer thin" squad. We are likely to be seriously stretched in January without Mane and Yoshida (oh and that other wastrel) and Cork and JRod.

This - we can't fault his commitment on the field even though he was ****ed off at being told he couldn't leave.
