Smirking_Saint Posted 5 April, 2015 Posted 5 April, 2015 Why on earth would we have let Lallana go for less than we could get for him? Technically it would have been the same. We wanted a figure, bournemouth had a definate fee. So we upped the price to ensure we got what we wanted. Without the bournemouth fee we would have realistically recieved the same, but the overall value of the transfer would likely have been less.
Window Cleaner Posted 5 April, 2015 Posted 5 April, 2015 Why on earth would we have let Lallana go for less than we could get for him? No idea but it seems to be an established fact that Bournemouth had to cut their share to get the deal done so we would then seem to have had a valuation for the player less their share. They eventually only got 3.6 million or something similar which is far less than their contractual share of a 20 million + transfer fee.

Without the bournemouth fee we would have realistically recieved the same, but the overall value of the transfer would likely have been less. We didn't "up" any price. There was no set price. We agreed a fee that was acceptable to us in the knowledge of what we would have to pay to Bournemouth and acceptable to Liverpool, hence the deal was done. We always knew what we would have to pay to Bournemouth, so there was no "lesser" fee.

Sour Mash Posted 5 April, 2015 Posted 5 April, 2015 Yeah, and that fee may have been achieveable at a lesser prive should we not have had to pay bournemouth Why would it be? Why would we sell Lallana for less than Liverpool valued him at?
Redslo Posted 6 April, 2015 Posted 6 April, 2015 Why would it be? Why would we sell Lallana for less than Liverpool valued him at? Because Liverpool probably didn't let us know their actual valuation. For all we known, they might have been willing to pay more but out negotiated us.
Wade Garrett Posted 6 April, 2015 Posted 6 April, 2015 I reckon Liverpool could offload all 3 ex-Saints in the Summer. Rodgers has now accused his team of not playing for him. Great to see.
El Shano Posted 6 April, 2015 Posted 6 April, 2015 As a Morgan replacement (albeit possibly an expensive one) how about Steven N'Zonzi? Has developed into a really good PL player and has good technique alongside the required athleticism and physicality. Expect a few who half watch other teams to slate this suggestion, but he has been excellent this season.

CB Fry Posted 6 April, 2015 Posted 6 April, 2015 Or we out negotiated them and Bournemouth, just as likely. Far more likely.

Looks like Lambert will be pushed out of the door, sad to see, will end his career at somewhere like West Brom, but can still see why the Liverpool move was a gamble he'd always want/have to take.

He s still very young so still has room to improve. Not sure how much we could get him for? 9-10 million?

He's already launched the excuses for next season as well. ''If we're not in the CL, then we cannot attract the big players'' Given how well you did attracting all those duds in the summer with CL football, I'm sure Liverpool fans won't be too concerned.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure they needed Champions league football to attract any of their summer signings did they?
Batman Posted 6 April, 2015 Posted 6 April, 2015 It's ok. Liverpool are a super power in world football. No need to panic on that front

Might help his international claims if he joined a team that was recognised by Les Bleus as having international players. He will not get recognised at Stoke whatever Sparky thinks. In The Times on Saturday, not sure whether Brendan McLoughlin (author) is a football man or not, and thus whether his opinion is recognised as valid by some of the dullards on this forum.
Saint Charlie Posted 6 April, 2015 Posted 6 April, 2015 Jesus, what about Karl Henry or Vinny Jones. Wade Garrett in "hasn't got a clue" shocker. N'Zonzi is a good PL player.
Avenue Saint Posted 8 April, 2015 Posted 8 April, 2015 I'm being called dim by a man who doesn't know what capital letters are. Clyne is not a wonderkid like Shaw. He is 24 and has a year left on his deal, we will probably get about £15m for him. Morgan I'd say is worth about £20m. £25m at an absolute push. JWP for £20m when he doesn't even start half our games. [emoji38] We will see if they sell, how much they go for. Grammar police. Good one! Dim
Wade Garrett Posted 8 April, 2015 Posted 8 April, 2015 Wade Garrett in "hasn't got a clue" shocker. N'Zonzi is a good PL player. I honestly don't see it. All about opinions I suppose.
SaintVanderbilt Posted 8 April, 2015 Posted 8 April, 2015 Guys, just throwing this out there but what about John Obi Mikel, good holding midfielder
SuperMikey Posted 8 April, 2015 Posted 8 April, 2015 Wade Garrett in "hasn't got a clue" shocker. N'Zonzi is a good PL player. He's a good player but his disciplinary record is absolutely appalling and he's one of the dirtiest and most petulant footballers i've seen in many years.
