Lord Duckhunter Posted 11 January, 2015 Share Posted 11 January, 2015 Is ex-Skate Joel Ward worth a look at in the summer? On a free, can play RB, LB and in central midfield. Has also played centre back a couple of times I think. Could be useful, especially if we are in the Europa League. He's one of the worst players in the league

UpweySaint Posted 11 January, 2015 Share Posted 11 January, 2015 He's one of the worst players in the league I disagree. Not keen with his ex skate connections but looks a decent player at an age where he could develop further. Not exactly the signing to get pulses racing and I would rather see squad depth come from the academy but I would not be unhappy should we sign him. If we're going to go for somebody versatile in defence, young and English I would rather see us go for Kyle Naughton. Swansea and Palace were interested in the summer but were told to pay £6m and baulked. That's a small price to pay for what he would provide for us in terms of cover at RB and LB so that we don't have to play other defenders out of position. SuperSAINT Posted 12 January, 2015 Share Posted 12 January, 2015 Stoke upping the ante after losing out on Shaqiri?! DZEKO TO BE LOANED OUT? Staying with Manchester City, and Stoke are set to make a surprise bid to bring in striker Edin Dzeko on loan, claims the Stoke Sentinel. With Oussama Assaidi returning to parent club Liverpool the Potters have room for another Premier League loan signing, and the local paper reports Mark Hughes is keen on the Bosnian, who could see his first-team opportunities limited with the imminent arrival of Wilfried Bony. S-Clarke Posted 12 January, 2015 Share Posted 12 January, 2015 He won't go to Stoke I don't think. Not sure he'll move at all, to be honest. There will still be a place for him at City. They need all the squad they can get, will probably rotate Bony and Dzeko - and if they get an injury to Bony, they're back to square one again. Although it's not our policy, I'm pretty sure if we wanted to...we could attract some decent names in this window.

SuperSAINT Posted 14 January, 2015 Share Posted 14 January, 2015 From SSN Transfer Watch: REUNION ON THE SOUTH COAST Ronald Koeman will try and lure £5million-rated Dutch midfielder Tonny Vilhena to St Mary’s in January, according to the Sun. The pair worked together at Feyenoord, where the 20-year-old is still plying his trade, and Koeman is keen to reignite their player/coach relationship on the south coast. And it understood the feeling is mutual, with Vilhena desperate to link up with his compatriot in the Premier League. His arrival could be coupled with that of SC Braga’s Rafa Silva as Southampton look to maintain their push for the top-four. Saint86 Posted 14 January, 2015 Share Posted 14 January, 2015 https://www.clubcall.com/southampton/ajax-to-fight-saints-for-dutch-deal-1754898.html The Dutch Under-21 international is unhappy at the Rotterdam club and looks set to leave in the January transfer window following talks between the club and his father at a training camp in Dubai. Ajax general manager Marc Overmars is keen to land the 20-year-old but faces stiff competition from Saints boss Ronald Koeman - who gave Vilhena his senior debut at Feyenoord aged 16. Reports claim Celta Vigo are also interested while AC Milan, Juventus, Torino, Udinese and Napoli have been following his progress closely with a view to taking him to Serie A. Vilhena's father admitted that his son had become frustrated with his lack of opportunities this season and Feyenoord's signing of two midfielders for his position last summer. Rebel Posted 14 January, 2015 Share Posted 14 January, 2015 Apparently Genoa are interested in signing either Osvaldo or Luc Castaignos from Twente. Perhaps we should go for Castaigns so they are forced to sign Osvaldo - plus Castaignos is the kind of striker we need and could be a good replacement for Jay Rodriguez if we end up selling him.
