Mayuka

Edmonton Saint

Waste of a squad space. Would rather see Seager or McQueen or some other young striker on the bench. He has done the sum part of zero in his Saints career.

Apart from, obviously, do enough in training for Koeman to select him over others.

He is absolutely shocking.

this. like I posted on the arsenal reaction thread: http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/players/profile.statistics.html/emmanuel-mayuka#clubsTabsAttacking

0 goals, 0 assists, 7 shots, 3 offsides in 15 appearances. I find him just utterly underwhelming...I know we had injuries last night so fair enough but more generally I do feel he's very fortunate to be able to sit on the bench against arsenal and city

I don't really get why Koeman sent him on and wasted our last sub. I know he couldn't have predicted Toby's injury but that is always the risk when you use all three subs. I would only use the third sub if you needed to make a definite, game changing decision or maybe if the game is already beyond doubt. To waste it on a nothing sub like Mayuka just seems odd when we were on course for a pretty decent point.

Been saying for some time now that he is the current version of Nicky Banger, but on reflection Banger was always played through the middle and hence did not weaken midfield, so I am being unfair (to him)

Bizarre comparison. Banger scored a few goals and generally made a positive contribution during his time here.

Huge pace, lack of control with and without the ball, sorry if that does not seem familiar. Agree he scored a couple, hence I was being a little unfair, but it was 9 goals in 5 years

He's only 22. The coaches obviously see something in training. Never really gets more than a cameo so whilst I'm not that impressed it's premature to write him off. Lambert has looked no better in the first 6 or 7 games for Liverpool.
Lambert has looked much better. Mayuka has been with us for over two years and not shown a single decent display in a competitive match. 22 is reasonably young, but he's not an 18 year old kid, should expect to see him hitting his prime soon.

I don't think it's premature what so ever, as has been said he's been here for coming up 3 years now. The criticism of Mane is premature, and he's already shown more in his first few games than Mayuka has ever shown for us.

Mayuka actually went out on loan to a relegated (I think?) French side last year, and didn't do anything - was just a bench player for them most of the time. He's been given an opportunity with us this season, but it's not going to happen. His touch isn't tight enough, his awareness isn't good enough, his technique isn't anywhere near good enough for this level.

He was a poor signing for us, and if I remember rightly...a NC signing at the time, as he brokered the deal to avoid agent involvement.

TBF...Rickie was often the last sub. on in their opening games.... But in the last month, when starting games ..he 's looking a little more of his " former self "..even if not scoring regualrly.

According to wiki we gave him a 5 year deal, which just seems plain odd. No idea why anyone would give such a long contract to an unknown foreign player. It reminds me of Tommy Fourpast a bit, just doesn't make sense.

And Jonno quick....and even Gazza. Odd signings at odd times who are nowhere at the level we should be aiming at at the time.

Nope 85th in the whole wide world, probably a poll conducted amongst Zambian 2 year olds after he scored in the ANC final.

if it's world-wide? survey.... then it's surely based on his input in International games, and not on domestic League performances, as he's never played regularly for Saints.

I'm sure there can't be too many uncapped players in the previous 84?.....although there are certainly some good Prem. players who've never been capped.

Work it out for yourself

Remember the Echo saying he was better ranked than Nasri or Terry...yeah right.

He definitely has some potential in there but hasn't come close to showing it. Unfortunately I think he is an out and out striker and won't fit in for us out wide - as you can see from clips of him he is an instinctive finisher but needs to be pushed right up top. Won't get that opportunity here.
