Pom... ah f**k.

A nice easy home game for me please. Plenty of big guns over the X-mas period as it is. No doubt whoever we draw will be 'boring' to people who were expecting the 1970 Brazil team.

Just someone dull and easy at home. Be nice to go on another decent cup run, but hopefully we will be in the semis of one competition by then anyway.

One of the big boys away and play our reserves as no one wants to win the Micky mouse cup, we need to concentrate on finishing 7th.

Not sure anything can match the "eighth place fever" that swamped the whole city last year, you couldn't move for bunting and street parties that final weekend.

It's such a magical thing to achieve a placement about two thirds of the way up the league. Just magical in a way that no other achievement in domestic football can ever match.

Are Southend still in? We could reprise that magical Friday night game but without the biblical rain. Brighton away, Brentford away, Charlton away, basically any away game nearer than SMS and that we could win.

Are Dagenham and Redbridge still in?

The 2nd round ties are this weekend I think? I also think Eastleigh are still in it!?

Yep, they play Southport! So in theory....they have a chance to get to the big round.

Aldershot are still in it to, which we shouldn't forget ;)

Draw is on Monday.

Who do you want?

Pompey.... Oh wait. Reading away for me would be a good away trip and my mates are Royals fans.

With our run of fixtures I want us to draw a crappy League 2 side at home. Non-league would be too much attention and a greater risk of injury, some "happy to get this far" lower league bums would be a good chance to rotate the reserves in. Oxford, Tranmere, Sc*nthorpe, Hartlepool all look like good ones - if they get through.

Take your pick:

Purely statistically based on tier of non-League, Blyth are by far the best opponents, followed by Worcester.

Scousehampton please so we can further demonstrate how Elite those players are

That could kick us in the arse.

As said we're up against a few big teams in the near future so an easier home draw please.

Posted

Eastleigh would be brilliant.

Incidentally, this is the first time the words "eastleigh" and "brilliant" have ever been used in the same sentence. FACT.

Posted

Eastleigh would be a good crack, if a little odd though as I imagine a great deal of their fan base are Saints fans anyway? Would be good to get a few quid in their coffers from a televised game at St Mary's and help a neighbour.

Posted

Normally I'd say an away game somewhere I haven’t been.

However I’m working that weekend, so hoping for an unimaginative home game.

Posted
Aldershot? Still in it? Good heavens! Who did they beat in the first round?

Just some small team on the coast called Portsmouth, they're not far from Fareham.

Posted

Huddersfield away - we never managed to win there in League One, so it'd be nice to reverse that. Brighton away for similar reasons, plus my sister lives there. Southport or Wrexham for geographical reasons would be great to do a non-League ground.

Jose Fonte wants a word!

I'm sticking to "someone crap in the bottom half of L2 at home" as my preference. Probably means we'll get Man City or Chelsea away.

my heart says Eastleigh

head says Arsenal

tea leaves say Wolves

Well, that puts pay to the theory about following your heart - Eastleigh got knocked out :/

Who do you want?

The same as every cup draw... the worst team left in the competition at St Mary's to give Saints the best possible chance of winning the competition.

Gonna be a bit of a pain actually hearing about the draw, seeing as many of us will be on our way to St Mary's when it happens.

Ok, so here's the MLG-approved "The9 Ranking of remaining teams" table, based on existing League positions. The first 44 are easy (though 3-5 has to get a shake up tonight, it'll be after the draw).
