Fraser Forster

Just seen the first part of the 2014 round up on the Saints YouTube channel. How did Boruc get off so lightly compared to Forster?

If FF had let in half those goals it would be meltdown on here.

Thought the very same

Some very dodgy goals let in

Happy new year

We shouldn't have it at all. Forster is a huge upgrade on the erratic Boruc. He's made one ort two mistakes but none of them was yesterday. The defence have much, much more confidence in him which of course is one reason our defence has been so good this year. It was good too to see he had learnt from the Villa gaffe and got that decision exactly right. We lost yesterday because City gave their best performance of the season and frankly were better than us.

Utter happy clappy rubbish !

What are we trying to blame Forster for today ? There must be something

CaptainChris ? SaintSteve ?

Christ we have some utter mongs on here

How pathetic to name posters who give an opinion on each game... totally agree, top class performance today... but to be ignorant to his previous errors is moronic

I can now put you back on ignore as you don't provide anything to the forum, except witless remarks

Later mate, I think most of us realised the criticism of Forster was overly harsh. The only real mistake Ive seen of him was the Villa mistake, the rest was just negative ********. Those asking for him to be dropped were the real pathetic ones, and its worth highlighting the moronic comments.

City? Only mistakes he has made is the Villa one, and arguably Sheffield United, and United's second goal. He has been exceptional, and has made many quality saves.

Could have done better with the goal away to West ham tbf. I agree he has been great though imo. The whole defence has been.

Yeah villa, sorry thats the one I meant.

Utds second goal ? No, if you watch it again the ball is far too far away from him.

Thoughts today? Personally I thought he could have done better for their goal, looked like he got a decent hand to it. But then again he had nothing to do for pretty much the entire half, pulling a save off like that from 'cold' isn't always easy...

He couldve done better possibly but in reality its hit hard, well and is moving so is very difficult. He did well to get to it, so I cant really be blame him too much IMO.

His crappy clearance to save a corner was however pretty poor

SSN Transfer Centre:

FORSTER FACING EXIT?

Sky Sports News understands Southampton are prepared to listen to offers for goalkeeper Fraser Forster this summer.

The former England international, who signed a five-year contract last summer, endured a difficult season and has not played for the club since Boxing Day.

His team-mate Alex McCarthy signed a new contract at St Mary’s yesterday and Hughes is planning for life without Forster.

But Southampton are seeking competition for McCarthy, and have turned their attention to Manchester City goalkeeper Angus Gunn, who spent last season on loan with Norwich in the Championship.

I think he should go and good luck to him, he's been excellent....bar the demise last season.

Should chalk a line under Saints and go in search of pastures new.

Always performed well with VVD in front of him...just saying like :)

Never the same after that injury.

He’s been average from day one. He just had a decent defence in front of him. Even when he was keeping clean sheet after clean sheet, I don’t recall brilliant saves, the other sides just didn’t hit the target. How many times have you seen him make saves that you think “how did he save that”. A dozen maybe, and 10 of those were in two games (Liverpool & Arsenal)

Whatever the cognoscenti on here think, I remember the whole defence growing a couple of inches in stature that first game back from injury. They believed in him, that much is clear to me. That is not to say he didn’t suffered a crisis of confidence last season, but he was very good for us at times whatever his ability as a goalkeeper.
