Bad Wolf Posted 30 November, 2014 Share Posted 30 November, 2014 Anyone would think we'd just been relegated ffs. So.... Forster looked like he'd learned his lesson Long looked hungry coming off the bench They're the Champions We only pushed so many men forward because they were down to 10 men. That's what cost us Bertrand was very good JWP and Gallagher are due back in a couple of weeks (to replace Morgan and Pelle when they pick up their ban winning yellow cards) We're still 3rd As another post has said in the 'reactions thread', we forced City to play their absolute best None of our 4 yellow card players picked up a booking Add your own.... gr00031 Posted 30 November, 2014 Share Posted 30 November, 2014 Felt Forster should still maybe stand on the edge of his area, then he would have got their before Aguero did. He did well, but normally any form of 1-1 Aguero puts them away. Would have been better for him to come out?

CanadaSaint Posted 30 November, 2014 Share Posted 30 November, 2014 Ronald now knows that Yoshida is utter shîte and he should maybe try Gardos in the future... What did/didn't Yoshida do today to warrant that conclusion? Bear in mind that the problems that cost us goals weren't on his side. And also the fact that Gardos became a bit of a liability in the last ten minutes of the League Cup tie at Stoke.
Bad Wolf Posted 30 November, 2014 Author Share Posted 30 November, 2014 ????? at what point of that second half was yoshida utter sh1te? This. I actually thought he was alright tbh and after Gardos' performance at Stoke in the League Cup, I'd say Koeman's decision to use Yoshida instead was justified. Morse Posted 30 November, 2014 Share Posted 30 November, 2014 One positive is City won when we didn't play at our best. Had we not been like startled rabbits in headlights for the first half who knows what might have happened. Maybe a bit of attention will be off us and the players can relax and give Arsenal a game. Wiggles31 Posted 30 November, 2014 Share Posted 30 November, 2014 Agreed with this thread. If our team had the spirit of some of the posters on this forum we'd plunge into relegation. City were excellent and there is no shame in losing to last years Champions with one of world footballs best strikers. My positive would be that we kept going even at 3 nil down and did not give up. We are still 3rd and in a quarter final.
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 30 November, 2014 Share Posted 30 November, 2014 The biggest compliment that was paid to us was that City changed their formation and their team to counter us, to play a pressing game and to try to stop us before we got into their half properly. The first half it failed. Once we lost the metronome at half time we lost our way. To those saying we played utter ****e, calm down, 3-0 flaterred them and they scored their last 2 on the break. My word, you should go watch Liverpool or Spurs play if you thought that was bad. Oh, and they have Aguero.

Turkish Posted 30 November, 2014 Share Posted 30 November, 2014 The bottom line is against teams like Man City if they play well they win on most occasions. Player for player they are much better than we are and so they should be given the hundreds of millions they've spent. Quite simply Man City were good and up for it from the off and we weren't at our best, when that happens there is only one outcome. A side from Pelles two chances we never really looked like scoring and were deservedly beaten, sometimes you just have to admit that on the day the opposition were better and although 3-0 was a little harsh we didn't deserve anything from the game
adrian lord Posted 30 November, 2014 Share Posted 30 November, 2014 +ve: Auderweild (sp?) -ves: slow, gave away possession, poor set pieces. I like a manager in a smart suit, I'm not a fan of these tracksuit managers, poch tight jeans and loafers were the final nail in his coffin for me as a saints manager. A good manager also needs a decent coat this time of year, the Arsne Wenger bench coat style is not a good look, its needs a smart trench or pea coat in a colour like grey or navy. blair3 Posted 30 November, 2014 Share Posted 30 November, 2014 We have only lost three points, against the Champions who have almost unlimited player resources. We played poorly and City are said to have had their best game al season and yet until we went gung-ho in the last 12 minutes we were still in the game even with our front three not playing well. Lets not forget we have our own injury crises that the pundits always seem to forget about, Rodriquez, Ward-Prowse and Cork are all first team players and were all missing. We talk about the lack of depth of our squad but we also had Gallagher, Isgrove and McQueen missing, although not first team players from what I have seen of them this year they can all make a contribution and give the manager options when he needs an alternative. With all those players out we have had a bench in the last few weeks made up of three defenders, a keeper and a couple of defensive midfielders which doesn't give much option when we are chasing the game. As for me, today I would have brought on Reed to replace Morgan, by brining on a defender the Fonte/Toby partnership was broken up and we didn't have anybody who could move the ball forward quickly. Colinjb Posted 30 November, 2014 Share Posted 30 November, 2014 Not too sure to be fair. We were not very good We were contained by a side who showed us the greatest respect by being at their best to take us out. It was a shame to lose 3-0 but not the end of the world, the only dark side is how exposed we looked when we pushed on to get something after City went down to ten men, very similar to the Skates cup game, they just picked us off. We played worse then today against Swansea and QPR to name but two.

As you say, a moment of genius, like the individual talent shown by Aguero to pick us apart when we pushed on. The stats today showed that we had more possession, had more corners and gave away less fouls. We pushed them today, they had to turn it on. It wasn't perfect, and yes the lack of penetration from wide areas was a missed opportunity, yet that was far from our worst performance today, we played against a Man City team who gave us their best. That there are such obvious areas for improvement from players who have already shown better says that we have another gear to go to. It's up to Koeman to make that happen. But we had no moments of genius. Nothing. Not a jot. We passed it around quite nicely with our defence and CMs at times but the forward players (bar long) were a non entity. To suggest that was better than against QPR (where we scored 2 and looked threatening) is just trying to make excuses or something for the loss We got well beaten by a team with top players who really played today We hardly pushed them. Until long came on, pelle had our best chance (should have done much better) and we had a fair few long shots that did not really trouble hart
