Morgan Blames Chambers

Morgan is quoted on FIFA as blaming Chambers move on his own move being stopped. Doesn't let go on his wanting a move elsewhere!!

http://www.insidefutbol.com/2014/11/29/calum-chambers-sale-stopped-my-move-tottenham-target-morgan-schneiderlin-on-southampton-stay/174064/

"Lots of people told me that if I left, it would be the straw that broke the camel’s back, especially as Calum Chambers’ transfer had gone down very badly indeed", he told FIFA.

"That was when the club realised that it had to stop, because the fans were already quite angry.

"One player doesn’t make a team, but by not letting me leave, the club was sending out a strong signal that it was still in control", the France midfielder added.

Schneiderlin is still keen on turning out for a bigger club however, with playing in the Champions League a burning ambition which has only grown with regular call-ups to the France squad.

"When I play for France, I rub shoulders with players who represent Real Madrid and other big-name clubs, and so it goes without saying that I would also like to experience the UEFA Champions League and suchlike. I’m 25 right now and I still haven’t played in it."

The bottom line was that no club met our valuation so tough t*tty! Love Schneiderlin as a player, but I think the majority of Saints fans wouldn't lose too much sleep if he went for Lallana money and we brought in Clasie to replace him in January. Silly Spurs have to realise they simply can't afford our better players...

ART, how have you managed to twist that into the thread title "Morgan blames Chambers"? Those quotes do no such thing, Schneiderlin doesn't personally blame Chambers.

I will support him now because no point getting on his back whilst in a saints shirt but wish he would shut the fook up. If we had a suitable replacement lined up I would fook him off in January right away.

Agree. Getting boring now reading quotes how hard done he has been, and how he still wants to go. We're not going down so I would rather have someone playing who wants to be here.

It's quite obvious you didn't read the full article and only read the quoted Morgan text which is part of the article. It was not I who made the title but the writer of the article on "insidefootball.com" I quoted the text and whenever I post, folk are on here asked for an actual quote from a player/manager

He's not good enough for clubs like Real Madrid, so it's all very nice saying he'd like to play for them but wtf is he gonna do it? Move to Spurs then watch us play in the Champions League? He's a very good player but he's not elite by any stretch of the imagination, he's not even been one of our best players this year. Tadic, Wanyama, Fonte, Clyne, Alderweireld and Davis have all been better.

Nowhere in the article are the three words "Morgan blames Chambers" used. You made the title up and it is misleading.

He's already said this (op) almost word for word several weeks ago. Might even be old quotes.

Yeah, I'm fairly sure it was in some French Football rag a couple of months ago and mentioned on this very site. Nice that it's dragged up again the day before we play the champions, someone couldn't be trying to throw a few spanners in the works could they?

Who writes this rubbish? How much credibility can one place on anything written on Inside Futbol? Not a lot I would imagine. How up-to-date are those quotes attributed to him?

Well considering hes talking about the summer transfer window in the past tense no more than 3 months old and theyre direct quotes too so I guess whoever was interview Morgan wrote down the rubbish he said, right?

Pretty sure I've seen those quotes before though? I think this article is a rehash although Morgan did say this.

To be fair, the quoted article does have that headline. But art, being somewhat devious, left out the word "sale".

To be fair to myself I originally wrote "Morgan blames Chambers Departure" but removed departure as not reading well ans requiring more added.

My opening sentence reads. " Morgan is quoted on FIFA as blaming Chambers move on his own move being stopped"

And yet another twist in Morgan's latest outburst on that failoed move

The answer is that it comes from an interview Morgan gave this week with FIFA.COM

Here is the original interview and article

http://www.fifa.com/world-match-centre/nationalleagues/nationalleague=england-premier-league-2000000000/news/newsid/248/069/7/index.html?intcmp=fifacom_hp_module_news

Now we are able to see what exactly Morgan said and how happy he is at Saints and with Koeman. Such remarks were omited from other articles to stir up old rumours and cause troubles

Will he move if we qualify for the Champions League? I think not.

Exactly this.

It's totally understandable what he's saying, all his international team mates play for clubs of a much bigger stature than Southampton. Which is fine. I'm sure if we get into the Champions League (you never know) then he'll be offered a shed load more money to stay and make a stab of it. If at that stage he still wants to go to a traditionally bigger club, then that's fine - he's actually been here a while now and while it would be nice to see him get a testimonial at Saints, I think we all know it's unlikely.

This is a reasonable article encompassing the background to Schneiderlin's desire to move on in the Summer, but the article has been twisted to portray him as being bitter about the aftermath of him being forced to stay. The way that I read it, is that he was disappointed/upset not to be able to move, but that events since had made him much more content to remain here. His desire to be playing in the Champions' League is noted, but then he wouldn't not be playing at that level with Spurs, would he? So all the dross about him wanting to go to Spurs is undermined immediately.

Naturally, the underlying impression the interview gives that he is now happy to be playing for Koeman, at least until the end of the season and perhaps beyond if we were to qualify for the CL, is not the tone that subsequent articles would wish to convey. They are much happier to stir the pot, portraying Schneiderlin as a disruptive influence in the team because fundamentally he doesn't want to be here. So I for one am perfectly happy to read this article quoting him and to believe that it says nothing new that I didn't know in the Summer and to be content that the general thrust of it is to praise Southampton's performance this season against all expectations and the part Schneiderlin has played in it.
