Smirking_Saint Posted 25 November, 2014 Posted 25 November, 2014 Its a small quandry, I require a laptop that will enable me to play Football manager effectively for atleast the next 2-3 years. It doesnt need great graphics, as I dont really bother with the full match or even highlights. I just need it to be able to cope with a huge database and load quickly. I have a works laptop, so dont need to do any work on the new one, it will be purely a FM platform. (No i cant load fm on the work one) Question is, whats the cheapest, but best practicle laptop to buy ?

Any of the laptops below will run FM - its just a question of how fast its churns through the calculations that power the game. Because FM is so number crunching heavy its the processor that counts more than RAM, graphics or size of hard drive. Obviously the more powerful the CPU the less waiting time (everything else being equal). Id compare the processor speed of a laptop you have played FM on with one of these PC World refurb machines http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptops-netbooks/laptops/refurbished-laptops/703_7366_70436_xx_xx/xx-criteria.html using this site http://cpuboss.com/compare-cpus Edit: I'd buy this one. http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptops-netbooks/laptops/refurbished-laptops/hp-pavilion-15-n268sa-15-6-refurbished-laptop-black-silver-21862442-pdt.html Edited 25 November, 2014 by buctootim
Smirking_Saint Posted 25 November, 2014 Author Posted 25 November, 2014 Thanks Tim, was thinking about a refurbed machine, looked at a couple on Ebay, Ideally I want something a touch overpowered as that way its likely to last a little longer. Again Im not bothered about it being refurbed or anything else, its litterally going to be an FM machine

Obviously ebay can be fine but I like the fact PC World give a 12 month guarantee and they have a shopfront presence. This is the FM15 minimum spec. http://www.footballmanagerblog.org/2014/10/fm15-system-requirements.html
