Agree. If we don't make top 6 and get Europe this season, we may have to wait for a long time yet.

Not sure about that. I can see a scenario in which we challenge regularly for the top 6 (although as dark horses, most likely).

This season, however, represents a very rare opportunity to snatch a place in the top 4 because so many of the big clubs seem to be struggling/rebuilding/in transition. You might expect this to be the case for one or two of the top clubs each year, but to have all of Man Utd, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool appearing well below par - along with Everton and Man City looking less than their best, is very unusual indeed.

I though Arsenal and Man Utd were both very poor yesterday, especially defensively. If we can carry on as were were prior to the international break we have nothing to fear over the Xmas period.

Watched Moyes first game in charge of Real Sociedad on Channel 5. After all of yesterday's other games it seemed to be played at walking pace. There was one spell when the ball remained close to the corner flag and for almost 10 minutes kept being thrown and kicked back over for a another thrown in. Shame Moyes didn't hire Pochettino' translator. Really miss the guy.

Is there a point in here?

Sorry for not making it clear. Football should be about winning within the rules of the game. There is no place for cheating in sport but money now dominates football so all that matters is the result by fair means or foul. In some other sports, cheating is severely punished, even with life bans but in football we have commentators who fail to take it seriously at all. That rubs off on amateur players and young footballers to the detriment of the game.

Of course, we have gained through cheating in the past

But is it any different than previously? I can't recall a time of yesteryear when football was played by gentlemen of integrity.

Shut up shut up shut up, they'll want Clyne.

Would fully expect them to make a go of that, and would have fully expected Lallana to be lapping it up to his former team mate too.

From Sporting life

"The victory put Chelsea on 35 points - 10 clear of Southampton, who play at Aston Villa on Monday.

City climbed into second place on 27 points after coming from behind to defeat Swansea 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium."

It appears that city get 6 points for a win now to allow them to overhaul us.

Bolasie is playing well. He played for plymouth and scores against us when we beat them 3-1 to get promoted to the championship. I'm sure we were linked with him a couple of years ago

Liverpool are utter gash. So they'll buy more strikers. Genius.

Hope they don't sack Rodgers.

And they spunked wins against us and QPR - lucky to be as high in the table as they are

“We still think we can finish in the top four and I think that would be a remarkable achievement considering we’ve been in the Champions League,” Lallana told the BBC. “But we don’t want to look that far and we want to get back to winning ways.”

Doh!

Nice start for Rickie - at last (with Lallana assist).....with a goal after 2 minutes, but Palace didn't give up and after the equaliser, they looked better.

For a long time, I was thinking Palace didn't deserve to lose, but after Rodgers took off Lallana, Liverpool lost their midfield control.

After 3-1 ...it was clear that Liverpool didn't even deserve a point. Gerrard was a mere shadow of his former self....very poor.

Never thought I'd see the day that we were above Man.U in the Prem.table....but to be 11 points clear of Liverpool (!)......:adore:.

What a brilliant result. Hopefully just about puts them out of reach for top 4.

No idea why he took Lallana off.

I'd be interested to see how many Premier League games Lallana has managed to finish when he's started. Pretty sure he was the most substituted player last season for us.

Whats with all the namby pamby Spurs players wearing gloves?

6' c .... winter hasn't even started!!! Even weirder is Lamela wearing gloves but has a short sleeved shirt on, there again he doesn't seem to know his ar$e from his elbow when it comes to scoring goals!!

* If our players wear gloves tomorrow night it will be because it is colder and darker, and due to some special sports science findings in helping aid performance!!
