Schneiderlin injured and withdraws from France squad

OS says Morgan had a scan on injury to right adductor. Now on way back to Soton for assessment.

Bad time to pick up an injury with so many games coming up but we have had a good run injury wise until now.

Deja vu last season anyone....?

Luckily midfield is probably the one area where we could lose 3 and still look ok.

Wanyama, Cork and Tadic / Reed doesnt look as bad as Gazzaniga in goal on Long as lone striker.

hopefully, it is something that a weeks rest would sort out

bit of a bonus for us that we do not play until monday night....

Morgan tweet says his injury is not serious but needs supervision.

Rest him at Villa anyway, let's be honest we don't really need our best DM pair when playing them as they have scored 1 in 7. I'm more concerned about the other end.

Perhaps we could go 4-4-2 against Villa?

------ Pelle ----- Long -------

Tadic -- Cork -- Vic -- Mané

God no, our system relies on having the extra man in midfield at all times to win the ball.

Remember last time we expected to beat Villa easily! ?

Hmm. However Gazzaniga was in goal, Yoshida at centre back and Wanyama went off at half time injured.

Isn't Morgan suspended for Villa anyway?

No.

However, I'd be inclined to rest him for this match in order to give him 2 full weeks recovery time for Man City.

May depend on Davis fitness as well I guess.

Wanyama, Cork and Reed @ Villa perhaps.

this is why i never yearn for our players to go on international duty

And why we won't finish top 4. We just don't have the squad, sadly

Saying that, as I said further up, thank good for sky pushing this game out till the Monday night. And also, not a bad game to have a couple of players out.

That's him out until the new year then...

Harrison Reed will be due a run out against Villa.

Nothing has been said to suggest he'll be out for several weeks. Get a grip.

Exactly, the same happened this time last year. We simply don't have the same squad depth as the likes of Arsenal, Man City and Utd. We will soon realise why we can't possibly finish in the top 4. Let's just hope Morgan is ok for Villa. If him and Davis are out we'll be severely weakened in midfield

Agree, but at the same time, if players were not being picked for their national teams while at Saints then they are even more likely to move on to the favoured clubs.

No grip needed cheers. Groin strains can not be rushed.

I also don't have an issue with him being out when we also have cork and Wanyama.

What 4 teams have better central midfield options? I struggle to think of many. Proper central midfielders, not attacking midfielders etc.

chelsea, erm, man city? Not a chance I'd swap wanyama and Morgan for fernando and fernandinho

its the strength in depth. not better individual players

The man himself says not too serious so hopefully he's fine for Villa. As others have said, I wouldn't be too disappointed if he sat out Villa and was guaranteed to be available v Man City (i.e. no injury or suspension). Could be good news for us in the long run that both Morgan and Davis have withdrawn from international duty with what look like minor injuries.

Yep, plus that sh*tstirring c*nt hodgson gets to tap them up for whatever chairman he had lunch with last week.

Or, he doesn't do that at all.

If they know that he has to miss 2 matches, he should limp on in the 89th minute against Villa, toss his shirt into the crowd, pick up the resulting yellow, and serve his suspension while recovering during the next match.

How bad is Henderson? Can't understand why he's still on the pitch.

I know. Its embarressing. An international CM player that doesn't really want the ball. He just points to someone else. Doesn't have a clue when he does get it.

The other options (according to Woy) are not much better....Carrick, Milner, Barry. I would honestly prefer Cork before all of these.

Wonder if Woy is pleased with himself after encouraging the ex-saints to move to a bigger club. Now they get limited play time, if they get any at all. What a plonker. Will he learn? Will he fck.
